Every ship warped as fast as every other ship... better read: warped as slow as; 1 au was the norm.
Cruise Kestrels, oh the fun!
Battleships with no stacking modifiers pwnd all (*waves to m0o*).
Mining in an Imicus till you finally could afford a cruiser to mine in and then on to a BS.
Harvester mining drones... wonder what these go for now.
Mines! Wonder if they'll ever come back.
Looking at just over 1500 people online and thinking "Wow, busy night/day."
Ratting in 0.0 in a Rifter and standing a chance... well, most of the time.
Just a few memories _

LOL yea, that kinda talk is what makes me wish I could play the game in reverse from Trinity backwards... cuz going forwards has not quite been as entertaining as I had hoped it would be in the long run. I guess it's like anything else tho, when you get to pioneer the game experience in its infancy and as a burgeoning game platform it is almost always a very exciting time because everything is so new and fresh and every little accomplishment means the world, it's like the common belief that most people covet the times they had in their childhood cuz it was all so new and exciting and they hadn't had the spirit pounded out of them yet, rofl.

I remember the days when +5 implants were 600-500M each (oh i wish they'd still be), hulks went for same price since some *cough* lucky one had bpo(s).
I remember the days when i lived in wicked creek (2-3 years ago?), when one red came to local and it was docking extravaganza.
I remember fall of empires and shifting of power, i remember the time when titans weren't mundane and 1 billion isk was a lot of money.
I remember time when people actually used battleships in lowsec.
Also as side note; Nano typhoon, that did 10km/s <3 i wish this still would be the case.

I remember reading the news that a Player owned Titan had been built.
Spending hours setting up bookmarks for mining ops, so that you didn't have to slow boat to the stations.
Getting scammed in the "new" contract system and buying 1 zydrine for tens of Millions of ISK because the contract stated that it was thousands of units.
Calling up a friend who was thinking of playing to tell him that I had managed to make over a million ISK from mining in one day, using my shiny new cruiser.
Finally getting my skills to the point where I could fly Ogre II's in my Myrmidon and having Bandwidth introduce 2 days later.
Being one of the first log in after the expansion that added salvaging (forget which one that was). Buying the BPO for salvage units. Manufacturing the first salvage units in the region I was in, carefully calculating how much ore it took to build them, figuring out how much it cost to build them, adding in just a bit for profit, then putting the 7 units I had built on the market at 35k each, watching them sell out in 15 seconds and go back up on the market for 12million each, then watching those sell out in 15 seconds. (I didn't factor in supply and demand).

Edited by: Guillame Herschel on 30/06/2010 19:55:42 Torpedoes and rockets worked like bombs do today: they traveled for a bit in the direction you were pointed and exploded, doing splash damage. These were the unguided missiles. Standard missiles, Heavy missiles and Cruise missiles were guided and worked like they do now: track the target until it hits, and only did damage to the ship they were fired at. There were no Heavy Assault missiles.
Also, you could put any missile into any launcher, if its magazine had enough room. Standard launchers could fit one Cruise missile if I recall correctly. Assault Launchers could cram a Torpedo in there.
I also seem to remember that when you jumped into a system through a gate you appeared on the other side at a random point in the system, not at a random point 15km from the outbound gate. So gate camping was always done on the inbound side, not the outbound.

I remember when range modifiers on ammo didn't work, but damage modifiers did. There was no reason to ever use anything but antimatter.
I remember when missiles were AOE.
I remember when low security space had arkanor.
I remember being mad that I started right after ship customization was removed. Now THAT'S old school.
I remember when the Thorax was implemented. It was the best Gallente ship in the game at the time.
I remember when max drones was 10.
I remember mines.
I remember Jove space.
I remember a lot of things. Hopefully I'll come up with more later.

Myrm has epic face time with Tourney camera. Looks gorgeous.
CCP Soundwave: "Hey anyone in Amamake, can you get this myrm out of the camera shot?"
Myrm hears it, runs off the camera immediately, 80 bajillion ships warp in.
Everyone laughs. \o |

hi,
You could fly through low sec (I know right!) in a cruiser or a battlecruiser and find at least one person per system mining, ratting or looking for a fight. Once the fight started it tended to be you vs one, or maybe two to three max. Everyone had a single multispec fitted and it added real spice to a fight as you were randomly jammed/jamming throughout. This allowed for protracted and fun fights.
sigh. + LDSkill+hireLDS |

Heh,i used to belong to the original FA aliance in fountain in early 2004,when the corp i belonged to(eve marshals),joined them.
Prior to that, the corp was mostly doing NPC farming in delve and querious, and before that,we were travelling to providence for NPC farming, which is when CCP introduced the Castor patch and BS spawns in 0.0 space, and those spawns were much harder than they are today,as they were groups of 15~20 ships with multiple tacklers and spawned 20 kms from where we were.
I was barely a 6 month newb back then, and still far from exploiting the full potential of a battleship, and a lost a lot of ships during that period, but it was a blast, and it was a shame that CCP caved into the pressure and made those spawns much easier to handle later on,as it just became boring.

Edited by: Joe Starbreaker on 30/06/2010 20:53:19 I haven't been around too long, started in late 2007 (Revelations II) just before the new Trinity graphics were implemented. I thought the game was the most beautiful thing I'd ever played -- under the old graphics!
One part of EVE history I played a role in is the discovery/invention of ninja salvaging. Back in 2007, it had been mentioned once or twice on the forums, as a hypothetical, that ISK might be made by scanning down mission runners and stealing the salvage, but few people were actually doing it. I went out, "invented" it (probably not the first, but it was an independent invention), spread the word, and taught it to my corporation.
By the middle of 2008, people were talking about the "epidemic of salvage theft" on the forums, something which has continued to this day, and entrepreneurs such as Kahega Amielden and Tchell Dahn had turned it into a Really Big Thing.
So, sorry about that, guys!

There was a big unclaimed 0.0 region between FA and CA. Kestrel fit like 4 cruise launchers. (Or heavy, i'm not sure anymore). Corporations bought and shared 1 BS BPO. (Every corp in this deal pay 10% of the BPO, and got 1 BPC every 10 copied). We made 'thorax for everyone' corp mining operation. We camped 0.0 entry with 4 frigates.
There was no Spy! (or they had almost no influence). There was no TS hack. When POS appeared, you fuel them in 0.0 with standard industrial ships, with 1 scout before, and 1 scout behind. BoB attacked our big POS with their every 4 DN :)
And so on ...
PS: Anyone remember the 'Moo' ? They camped low sec with BS, and were quite very well known :)
