I'm pretty sure they don't always scan, I think I read somewhere that they only scan about 40% of the time, but if there was any fact to that number I don't know.
I know at least once or twice in the last week I have picked up drugs from rat loot and brought them back without being scanned, giving I didn't jump very far, but it doesn't seem to be a 100% scan rate. so given that along with a skill at hiding it even if they do scan, and getting to gates quickly to avoid scans then it shouldn't be that hard to move it with the skills

A bigger question to me ...
I have a large shipment of drop i bring into a system in which it is contraband. I get a hefty fine. What if that fine is more than the total isk in my wallet ?

We "The Smugglers Corp" are very very exited about this news.. we would like to thank CCP for the hard work they done, and give us the option to take active part in the black market.

You go into negative values. You can't buy anything until you finally break positive.

A friend of mine went trough 6 gates with crash in his cargo (wich he didnŠt know of) and the customs didnŠt scan him once. So customs canŠt be scanning all ships that go trough the gates. Lets say the customs scan 10% of all ships going trough and you have Black market trading on max. That would mean that you have a 90% chance to slip trough customs when scanned, making the procentage more 99% -ish. Just an approx. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. Just a thought... if you had say 5 corp mates who also had this skill at lvl 5... and you all moved this contraband in a relay fashion, for example, a 5 jump trip, you jump through, pass it off to a corp mate, they jump to next system, pass it off to another corp mate, and so on... wouldn't that effectively make your chances of getting caught very very slim?
Just a thought... maybe this is how CCP intended for it to be done? Seems like the odds work better that way |

I'm new to the game and didn't know you could smuggle till i read this but can i put in something anyway ;) Can't you just make an alt character, a mule purely for smuggling the stuff to and from moving to goods to and from letting a main do the sales and profit. You could even RP it as some down and out who transports the stuff for your main in return for a portion of the cargo to feed his habit as he can't get the stuff any other way. He has nothing, and nothign to loose so he doens't care about all the fines and neg wallet in the world as long as he gets his drugs ;) If one day you shold need the alt with money i'm sure no one will miss a down and out dying in the gutter of an OD and a new one replacing him ;)

No.
A 1 in 10 chance or whatever value it is, still remains who ever takes the contraband.
For example.
player 1 - gate 1 - 1/10 chance of being caught. player 1 - gate 2 - 1/10 chance of being caught. player 1 - gate 3 - 1/10 chance of being caught. player 1 - gate 4 - 1/10 chance of being caught. player 1 - gate 5 - 1/10 chance of being caught.
in your example it would be.
player 1 - gate 1 - 1/10 chance of being caught. player 2 - gate 2 - 1/10 chance of being caught. player 3 - gate 3 - 1/10 chance of being caught. player 4 - gate 4 - 1/10 chance of being caught. player 5 - gate 5 - 1/10 chance of being caught.
The chances of being caught are the same.
You could get lucky and go 10 or more jumps and never be caught. Conversly you could take the first jump and get caught. It's total random chance. Basically with this skill your enhancing things slightly more in your favour to not get caught. Nothing to see here .... move along. |

I can answer that. Jonas is right. It happened to me. I was carrying 110,899 units of Spirits to sell. I'd spent every dime I had down to about 300 ISK in my wallet. I was going to sell it for 525 a unit.
Spirits are illegal in Amarr, Khanid and Ammatar. I plotted my course around those regions and made my trip. So far, so good.
In a system that the map shows as soverignty CONCORD I ran into a spawn of Amarr customs agents and had the entire cargo taken and was fined about 55.4 MILLION in ISK. I was at negative 55 million and change.

Genesis region belongs to the Amarr Empire. CONCORD has several of the Genesis region attributed to them for formal functions, the systems of Kehour, Ourapheh etc are in Genesis.
