Ilona Nightwing Minmatar Blue Republic	Posted - 2010.07.13 14:11:00 - [1] So, wanted to try some PvP and made an alt for it. First tried bumming around low sec (Molden Heath to be precise) in a Rifter looking to pirate pretty much anything I came across. Someone in a cruiser got podded by me which was the high point as I set upon him while the rats were about (hey, alls fair in love and low sec right), but most of the time it was just 'wow, this place is very, very quiet'. Seems that unless you have an interdictor to hand that bagging traffic is not easy, certainly there were no idiots in exhumers roaming the belts of low sec on their own anyway. Even the gate camp I saw wasn't very scary. Then tried faction war, but the corps are all kinda paranoid and all the usual Serious Business hoops to jump through. Or grinding out the faction standing to join the NPC FW corp. Way too lazy, sorry, grinding is for WoW. What to do? Red and Blue! Joining was no hassle, and most excellent PvP happened almost instantly. OK, I got my ass kicked, a lot, but thats not too surprising being a pvp-nub. So happens my alt has plenty of isk so money no object as far as frigates are concerned, though in truth being blasted repeatedly was remarkably inexpensive given the wonders of insurance and the fact that fellow blues were kind enough to scoop my wrecks and give me my gear back every time I got wasted. I was made to feel very welcome and even needed, even if I accomplished almost nothing. So very much a thumbsup for Red vs Blue, my first impression is 10/10. If anybody else is looking to get into PvP I highly recommend them.

Hah. I guess the famous Eve paranoia is about. No, I do have an alt (Silv Talaran) who just sits in stations and trades all the time. I got bored of ISKmaking and wanted to do something else, the story is above pretty much. Actually I went to RvB last, after exhausting all other options. There's probably a few people about who might recognise me from spamming the Recruitment channel asking for Minmatar FW corps... I've had zip to do with RvB aside from one night of the best fun I've had on Eve since I started playing it. Not everybody who plays Eve is a congenital scammer you know.

We have a recruitment thread in the appropriate forum but we can't control whether people who like what we do post elsewhere nor can we stop people from asking about it and we most certainly aren't going to sit on our hands when people talk **** about us. I think RVB gets more interest outside the recruitment forums because it is unique in EVE. It isn't a typical corporation or alliance and what we do is different from other organizations. You'll also note that you see quite a bit of traffic outside of the recruiting forums for Eve U and the Agony PVP courses. The reason is that in all 3 cases you are dealing with an institution that is different from a typical corporation. In the case of EVE U you have an organization that's sole purpose is teaching new players about the game. Agony provides neutral PVP training. RVB provides a venue for low drama quick action PVP where you can get into fights between roughly even opponents rather than the more typical ganky engagements that are more typical of EVE PVP. And you can do so conveniently near multiple market hubs with all the additional advantages of Hi sec. We aren't creating these threads ourselves, not because we're not sneaky enough to do so, but because we don't have too. There is an abundance of people looking for exactly what we have to offer and they post this sort of thing with out any prompting from us. As far as actual recruitment efforts we encourage people to post this sort of thing in the official recruitment thread, I've done so myself with my semi regular battle reports which is kind of how I got the job of recruiter in the first place. Note I was posting about how much I liked RVB before I was asked to pick up Orion's slack. But thousands of pilots pass through RVB and we aren't going to try to police them all so you'll get posts like this. I assume that the lack of moderator action on these posts means that the moderators understand the value of what we do for the overall health of the game. RVB is not nor was it ever intended to be the final home for an EVE player rather as most corporations are (whether they succeed in being such or not) It is simply a way stop that people are welcome to pass through during their EVE careers. A year from now I'll probably be somewhere in low or null sec once I've accomplished all I want in RVB and get bored with it like many before me. This is after all the Warfare and Tactics forum and that's what we do. We aren't interested in holding space we aren't trying to sell our services we aren't making any isk on it and you certainly aren't going to get rich by joining us. We provide a place for people who want to practice warfare and tactics that's it. We give people a way to baby step into PVP many of our members are former carebears who've decided to get into PVP and we're providing them skills and the nerve to step out into other area's of EVE. People who someday will be tooling around low and null sec providing you with fleet mates an targets. Whether you think that we do PVP right or not I'd think that if you enjoy PVP you'd support our efforts at creating more interest in the activity. Which should result in more and better targets everywhere in EVE.

So it is both autobiography, and thank you. I'm sure other newbies looking at PvP who are on this forum asking where to get it will be interested in my experiences. There are plenty of pirate guides that just say 'Go to low sec in a Rifter and you will do OK', well, wasn't my experience, I went, I roamed, I got a single pod kill (hence the security status I got atm if the paranoid want to fact check) and that was it. Bit of a snooze really.

The cruiser didn't get away, though... Have a look at my security status in game. A bit of aggression and one pods worth. For that matter if you google 'Ilona Nightwing' you'll find some evidence of me bumming around in low sec Oddelulf before giving up on finding helpless innocents to rifterise there.

Since it's not up on BC that means that either you didn't post the killmail the victim didn't post the lossmail and neither of you have your API's in BC (not entirely unbelieveable for PVP newbies) or your lying. The solution is to go to your character screen go to the last section Combat record I think and locate the kill mail. Double click it copy all the text from the resulting popup then open battleclinic go to the eve killboard and paste the text into the space. Submit killmail and we'll be able to see it.

Battleclinic, looks like you have to register, and I can't be bothered. However... Oddelulf is low sec, and -0.3 sec rating shows I was shooting up someone illegally. And if you don't believe that, someone put up them greasing me in Molden Heath apparently here... Lots of dying ...so there's plenty of proof there that I was indeed bumming around in low sec looking for pew pew as soon as I was out the gate, which is the point refuting the accusation that I'm some RvB plant or something.

If you don't want to be bothered with registering to post on BC you can post it on the Blue Republic Killboardsame basic process just click on submit mail. You'll want to learn to do that since we tend to like to be able to view the killmails right after an engagement so we can better analyze the battles.
