You know I'm not a heavy missioner but I do 1 or 2 L4s pretty much every night at least and I have NEVER ONCE had a ninja salvager/looter.
Maybe you should pick less populated systems to mission in.

ok, I'm only gonna say this once, because I side with the ninjas...
fit an armor tank, some racial specific ECM for the rats your fighting, a web, and a scram.
When ninja loots your wreck, start jamming the rats. ECM works on rats, and they will lock up targets randomly after they are jammed. Once enough rats have locked your ninja, you can scram and web him. But really, why not just fight the bastard? I'll never understand carebears.

Do not shoot a ninja, bad things happen. If he is just salvaging your wreck, then shooting him will result in Concord shooting you. And unless your ship is built with some uber jove technology that is capable to taking on 100 Concord BS, you can forget about trying.
If he is also looting your wreck, then of course you can engage him at your own risk. You better be able to swap into a PvP ship soon as engaging in PvP with a PvE fitted ship will result in certain death (no matter how much billions of faction/officer gears you've put on your shiny faction battleship).

I like ninja salvagers, atleast the "new player trying to make some quick cash in a fun way" kind. I'd looks like its way more enjoyable than level 1/2 missioning or frigate/cruiser mining, and they need to be quite alert to not get popped by new spawns and the like. So the more the merrier I say, its not like loot/salvage is more than a fraction ot total mission income anyway.

using a huge sig drake in a system like Umokka?
There are always lot of mission runners and therefore always probers around in the main systems. They won't be after *you* specifically, but you're one of the easier targets because of the sig radius.
For a quieter life, move somewhere quieter.

OP and all the other whiners...you are pathetic
you get LOTSA isk sitting afk in your Ravens/Drakes...farming Bounties/LP/mission rewards
and still you cry over some "ninja" salvagers
Grow some balls and blow them up if it annoys you that much...just refit your ship jump back and enjoy the fun and/or let some corpies join in to shoot the evil ninja
you pathetic lonesome isk grinders don't get EvE at all...defo not the game for you
also i love seeing missioners blow up their own stuff.for some reason they think it ****es me off but ill just sit there and watch them blow it all up.amazing how people get excited over some pixels
i feel sorry for you people

The not so funny handle with ninjas:
Start popping wrecks when ninja comes near. Don¦t convo. You must be very patient, more patient than ninja. Enjoy ninja smacking in local.
A bit more funny:
When mission makes possible, try getting full room aggro, warp out. Only do it when you are NOT scrambled, and be sure to be able to handle it if something might go wrong with your own gtfo. Some good loot/salvage on ninjas wreck sometimes. Enjoy smack in local.
Very funny:
Have an alt in a cloaked pvp fitted (high alpha) ship ready nearby (must be in same corp). Wait ninja stealing (comes flashy red to you) otherwise CONCORD will take care of YOUR fine pvp ship. One shot ninja. If alt¦s sec status allows, send ninja to clone station, hoping there were +4¦s in his head. Enjoy killmail. This is actually the only thing the Sin is existing.
Hope this helps.

3) I don't usually salvage anyway so if they find me I'm not losing anything. I've simply abandoned all the wrecks in the mission when I've seen ninja-salvagers warp in before. This sometimes has the ironic result of ****ing them off, feeding into #2.
4) Sometimes I'll manage to get them killed, resulting in delicious tears.
These, pretty much. They provide some flavour in an otherwise bland mission running day.
Originally by: Saelie Cool stories.
Cool story indeed bro.
My own story is a tad less interesting. Some ninja salvager turned up in my Damsel in Distress mission, not too much of a problem as long as him doesnÆt intend to nick the loot of Zor (however bad it might be). Not feeling particularly malicious but seeing the opportunity for some fun anyway I remember the station with the Damsel in explodes dealing damage in a 40km AoE. Not enough to cause harm to a battleship but certainly enough to ruin the day of anyone in a frigate. Pop goes the station and pop goes this poor chapÆs Covert Ops, I believe it was. It made me smile.

Since more than one person in this thread has evidenced some confusion about the ownership of salvage from mission rats:
Per CCP Mitnal: Originally by: CCP Mitnal "Our policy on this is extremely clear... Salvaging is a mini-profession within EVE and does not constitute stealing."
Per GM Faolchu : Originally by: GM Faolchu Salvaging other peoples wrecks.... This is an intended game mechanic and is in no way an exploit. People salvaging your missions npcs or the player you just blew up are doing nothing wrong. The players are salvaging what is effectively floating rubbish in space and Concord places no value on this wreckage. Eve is a harsh place you won't always have everything go your way, its a do or die world and people do what they can to get along. If salvaging some wreckage gets them a few more ISK someone will do it, it doesn't matter who just blew it up.
Per Senior GM Ytterbium : Originally by: GM Ytterbium Players are still completely free to salvage other pilot wrecks at will ... and doing so is not considered as an exploit.
Per CCP Prism X : Originally by: CCP Prism X Why is stealing salvage OK? It's not. It shouldn't even be possible to move an item from your cargo-hold / hanger to another persons cargo-hold / hanger without opening a trade window. Before the salvage enters those containers it is not considered your stuff by the server code. Hence it's not stealing.
Per CCP Incognito : Originally by: CCP Incognito Had a chat with some designers this evening. Ninja salvaging is intended game play. It was always intended that the wrecks are public, the loot is private. They do not see it as a problem if others salvage your wrecks.

What? lol... u need some +5 logic implants
The real reason why they scan mission runners out is.. they hope u get concorded if you smartbomb em - they collect ur 3 bil cnr loot and win.
or any other way - you just click overview and shoot at rat (ops.. it wasnt rat) ..
1. You are just making **** up, OP was in a Drake. 2. Yes, it's not your salvage, it is your loot. CCP confirms, everybody knows. 3. Enjoy your stay in the sandbox. QQing is allowed.

I have my own solution to it really:
If a looter comes around,i start blowing up the wrecks, and when said looter sees that i'm doing it repeatedly, the looter leaves.
It's a simple and effective solution, and no,i don't give a crap about the loot myself,it's just the principle of the thing.

Nah, people always say that, but they still get their thrills from watching you destroy your loot, and will return to watch you do it again.
If you really want to know what's always worked for me, as someone who's done more missions than anyone you're likely to meet, just wait until the ninja salvager comes close to the bunch you're tanking, and warp out. That makes them rage pretty hard. Some keep checking the pocket to see if i'm back yet for awhile after, and i just keep leaving and putting the NPCs on them again. That usually does it, but two people really, really, got mad, and made it their lifes purpose to keep checking the pocket every 5 minutes for hours. I just docked and went afk to do other things around the house, while they just kept checking, and checking, and checking. Never seen those two log in to the game ever again.
That, my friends, is how you deal with ninja salvagers.

OP, you seemed to forgot about taking account of the bounty, which for AE4, is at least 10 million isk.
Let me tell you one more interesting fact:
Assume it takes you one hour to complete an AE4 which gives you 20million worth of bounty, reward and LP, and it takes 20 minutes for you to salvage the wrecks you left behind that gives you 5 millions isk worth of salvage and loot, you are actually losing money by actually bothered to salvage your mission. You're better of to skip the salvage and do another mission.

The loot sucks anyways, and it doesn't take long to destroy a good portion of them, which i specifically target the battleship wrecks first....They basically assume it bugs me but it doesn't,since i never salvage anything anyhow, and move on to the next mission ASAP.

This holds true when you sell your salvage like a monkey. If you put that stuff up with sell orders at .01 isk less then the lowest sell order, you'll be amazed at the amount of isk you get out of that worthless salvage
Or, even better, invest in a few BPO's (or BPC's if you're still poor) and build some rigs off em... anyways, I turn salvage into 30 to 50 % of mission total .. so yeah, you guys are doing something wrong.
Dont even start on my social skills. They are good.
