I'll wait until the price comes done. And I probably should play the Brood Wars expansion first, anyway. And clean my optical mouse so it doesn't wig out so often. (Let's put the optics in a very small cavity so that it's easy for cat hair to get into and block the optics but difficult to access the cavity and remove the strand of offending cat hair. Damn you Logitec!)

Bought it, installed, added to my b.net account, Says it's active...
Tries to log in and gets "This account does not contain an associated copy of StarCraft 2, Please log in to account management and add your game".
I've since spent close to 5 hours getting told by their "tech support" to "change my password in my b.net account and wait an hour" and to "change the language settings in my b.net account" and other bull****, Still doesn't work :/

A good RTS has 'rock paper scissors elements'. Units have their strengths but for overall game balance they should have a counter.
I liked chrono tank and Mirage Tank in Red Alert

Well regardless of hype, it's a good game, the singleplayer portion is well done although it only really makes sense if you've played the first game, the missions are varied, lotsa RPG elements in upgrades and research, bit of point and click adventure between missions. Some challenge type missions to help get you prepared for multiplayer. And it's got the Blizzard spit and shine really. Graphics are better then I expected.
The actual RTS gameplay isn't very ground breaking or inovative but I doubt anyone really wanted that. It takes everything surrounding it to a whole new lvl though. And I'm liking it a lot.

Every RTS is the same as the last as far as game play.
I really don't get what gets the fanbois all riled up about the genre.
Build units, upgrade buildings, build upgraded units, swarm enemy base, rinse repeat.
I seriously cannot stand RTS. Even Warcraft III, which has amazing story elements, I really can't stay interested in the gameplay after a certain point.
I despise how the entire strategy genre is watered down by RTS games as well.
I look up "Strategy" on Steam, or Gamersgate or some other digital distributor and 90% of the games listed are RTS.
Real strategy games are games like Hearts of Iron, Victoria, Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings, Civilization, or anything with elements of 4x.

Well, I was willing to give it a chance. Have fond memorys of SC from years ago - its the game that first got me into RTS's.
Bitterly disappointed. I'll admit here that I'm only 5 missions in - I will keep going and probably complete it, but only because I'm a completionist (and can't keep games unfinished). I'll post again if my opinion changes (I don't have high hopes)
As far as the RTS element goes, its essentially the same game as Starcraft. I can see why this appeals to people, but not to me. Gaming has moved on... games like Company of Heroes and Dawn of War 2 have set the bar pretty high... I haven't been a fan of "swarm" games for years. Its like playing Pac-Man with realistic graphics when half-life 2 is available. I don't see the point in it.
I had a couple of moments of nostalgia, but they quickly passed. They were the highlight of the gaming experience for me.
It seems like they realised they were basically just re-releasing a 10 year old game so decided to bolt on some poorly thought out RPG elements aswell to make it a bit more "fresh." I have nothing against RPG elements in games if they add to the gaming experience... SC2's RPG elements so far haven't.
Plots pretty crap aswell - can't really comment on this properly as like I said, I'm not so far in; but so far its completely unengaging. Dialogue is relatively poorly written and not overly well voice acted. I have absolutely no empathy for any of the characters.
Missions are far too easy on normal - just really frickin long. One I just completed took 45mins and I never even broke a sweat. Was just a case of plodding along doing a certain repetitive task.
It bores me. Its bad when I think in a game, mid mission, "this is boring."

Kerrigan looked better in old Starcraft.  And by better I mean meaner. And what's with the frickin' high heels?!
Otherwise the cinematics are pretty awesome. I don't like the game graphics though, too cartoony (which seems to be the Blizzard way nowadays).

Newegg has some good deals on power supplies + starcraft II as well as Cases + starcraft II. I was thinking of getting a new PSU for my next build and getting starcraft essentially for free.
