......nooo thats not what he needs. K bud first you need to find out what damage it is that the rats you are fighting specialize in. After that fit acordingly.... high: 4 seige with torps 800's and or other close range projectiles in others med: cap recharger II's (or named rechargers) low. 2 large named armour reps 3 hardeners (specificly for your rats) and cap relays.
That will do it man, you can sustaine one rep forever and the other for a good amount of time if you get into a real nasty spawn. Also the torps will catch the little ceptor guys just give em time. 2 perceptor usually does the trick.
Kill order in spawn 1)ceptors 2)cruisers 3)bs's
gl man that will do it

highs: 4 seige launchers 4 heavy nosf
meds: sensor booster scrambler or disruptor 3 cap rechargers (5 rechargers if you just NPC hunt or are bait )
lows: RCU cap relay 3x armor hardeners of your choice med t2 armor repper large armor repper (I don't have a named one)
I've easily tanked a Raven using 4-5 torps and 1-2 cruise (wasn't sure of exact setup). You should be able to tank him long enough to drain his cap and take him down. I hunt Angel npc's and can easily tank 1BS and multiple cruisers/frigs. 2BS is a bit tough but my torp skills are low atm and can't kill as fast as I could.

There's no room for whiners in this thread. Please end yourself Pesadilla. Btw starfox your main armament, the projectiles, will get buffed in January (or if the devs are neat as a Xmax present but hey, that would be too great!)
Now to your PvE Typhoon setup ;)
4x 800mm ACs 4x Sieges with Torps
1x Afterburner 1x Large Capacitor battery 2x Cap Rechargers
2x Large Armor Repairer 2x npc specific hardeners 1x Reactor control unit I 2x Capacitor power relays
You need Engineering and Electronics on lvl 5. Get Weapon upgrades to lvl 5 too or you'll have to get named launchers like Malkuth Sieges.
To find out which armor hardeners to use, check out www.eve-i.com , left bar, object explorer -> pirate drones and check what damage your rats deal out. Also check their resistances and choose Torpedos based on that. For example, Sanshas deal Em+thermal damage and are weakest against Em on both shields and armor.
Side note, don't pvp with this setup. There is no ship with the same effective setup for both PvE and PvP.
Basic setup for PvP use:
4 650mm ACs 4 Siege Launchers
1 Cap Injector with 800 charges 1 100mn Mwd 1 Warp Scrambler 1 Web
1 Large Armor Repairer 1 t2 medium armor repairer 3 hardeners 1 Rcu I 1 ballistic control unit
You'll need a named Siege Launcher or Weapon Upgrades 5 for this because you'll run out of cpu. Malkuths have the least cpu requirements and are around 6m per unit in empire space. If you have grid left over, replace some 650mms with 800mms.

Do this many people actually use dual large armor reps?
I've hunted NPCs a lot, and I never needed more than a single large armor rep, or two medium t2 reps. I've been able to tank Dread Guristas spawns in a dominix with two meds, for crying out loud.
I think 2 large armor reps is a waste of grid. Get a single named large rep, and add in a t2 med if you are still worried.

Just been working out a setup in my head for the alternative to armor tanking:
4 Siege Launchers 4 1200s/1400s
Xl shield booster amp thermal hard em hard
PDU 2s
I havent worked out the CPU reqs but grid will fit no problem. Waiting for chaos to test soem more crazy setups.

Edited by: JoCool on 21/12/2004 20:38:02 For Sansha spawns you'll sometimes need 2 large armor repairers, and Angels are harder.

I had something like that on my tempest and had to fit a CPu for it to work, might work on Typhoon though. The problem was range: the rats i was fighting closed in too fast and the arties were useless. Better of with AC's in that case.
Dont forget your drones.

Edited by: hooj on 22/12/2004 15:20:51 i'm sure half the people here have never flown a phoon, 6 turret points & 5 mid slots?
Here's something that might be a bit different to the norm. It takes advantage of the new AB changes and fix to defenders. AB is excellent for the approach to gunships as long as you don't go head on.
Hi: 2x rocket launchers, 2x siege, 3x 800, 1x dual 650 100mn AB, 2x cap rechargers, 1x scramble 2x L rep, 3x hardner, 2x cap relay
Rocket launchers are for defenders vs missile ships. Fire the first, wait 10 seconds, fire the second then repeat. You will always have at least 1 launcher firing, when both are going the rate of success is reasonably high. If you're fighting a gunship use rockets when in range, you may laugh but they do decent damage!
No 1 setup can fight any ship, with the above I'd be v wary vs 800 tempest & blaster mega but I mostly see Caldari/Amarr nowadays.
