I see some stations have a refining percentage of 50 and30%. I have a stupid question. Does that mean that they charge (take) 30% or that you receive 30%?
To me, 20% is huge if you factor in perfect refining and standingsGǪ |

no, that's how well they refine, you want a 50% station ideally. the tax is what they take. this is 0% at 6.67 standings with the corp that owns the station (in reference to npc stations) Reading my posts is like panning for gold; most it will be useless, but occasionally you'll find a nugget of gold. |

Thanks for the reply.
Are there stations with higher than 50%? |

50% is max, I believe. That is supplemented by your Refining and Refining Efficiency skills as well as any implants that effect refining. |

It's their base refining efficiency, before your skills are calculated in.
So the base is that you get either 30% or 50% of the mineral content of the ore you refine. A percentage of these minerals, usually 5% but reducable with standing and standing skillz, go to "we take", a form of tax (their "charge", as you call it). The remainder, as much as 50% (or even 70% in a ****** station!) of the minerals, go to waste.
There's then a selection of skillz you can learn to reduce this waste. In a 50% base station (one that can be said to have a good refinery), you can reduce waste all the way to 0%. Without even needing to train all the relevant skillz to 5 (or use any hardwiring implants).
(You can also reduce the "we take"-tax to 0%, by the way.)
In a 30% base station, you cannot reduce the waste to 0% with just skillz, even training all skillz to 5, although you can get fairly close. And it is possible there's some implant hardwiring that can reduce waste to 0% in synergy with skillz. But basically, you want to do your refining at a base 50% station, not a base 30% one.
In the refining interface, the percentage shown takes into account only your general refining skill(z), not your ore-specific skillz. Therefore, it's a mistake to look at the refining percentage shown. Instead, look in the columns for each mineral type. You want both "we take" and "waste" to be 0. |

You need a 6.67 or higher standing with whatever NPC corp's station you are refining in to fully eliminate the "we take" tax on your minerals. Anything lower and they will take some. At 0.00 standing, they take 5%
Refinery V Refinery Efficiency V + The 2% refining skill wire will give you a perfect refine for anything (any ore, ice, modules, ships, scraps, ammo etc) when utilizing a station with a 50% base refine.
To get a perfect refine in a station with a lower base, you'll need to train up item-specific skills (Veldspar Processing, Scrapmetal Processing etc)
That is generally only a problem if you live in Null or a WH. If you are in high or low sec, there is almost always a 50% station nearby. Its just a matter of researching who has good station coverage before doing the rep grind to 6.67. In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse. |

at a 40% station if you can use t2 crystals and the 2% implant, you should get perfect refining for the ore corresponding with your t2 crystals. Reading my posts is like panning for gold; most it will be useless, but occasionally you'll find a nugget of gold. |

The same reprocessing formula applies to all materials.
You can never get over 100%.
Yield (before tax) = Facilities Base + Reprocessing Base * (1 + Refining * 0.02) * (1 + Refinery Efficiency * 0.04) * (1 + Material Specialization * 0.05) * (1 + Refining Implant Percent / 100)
Facilities Base: Depends on the station Reprocessing Base: 37.5% for NPC stations and outposts
Tax Percent ("We Keep" column) = MINIMUM(0, 5 - standing * 0.75) |
