Seriously...I can go into system after system and find macro-miners. It is ridiculous. You can bump their ships, try to contact the operator and get no response from hulk, after hulk, after hulk. This hurts the legitimate players that actually do play the game as intended and stay and actual mine. How does it hurt them? A non-afk-macro-miner cannot stay in game 23/7 and mine roids. These afk miners are driving down the price of ore for the players that choose to be miners and that is not fair.
CCP has to take a pro-active stance against macro-miners and crack down on these macroing players. We players cannot afford to lose ships and security status dealing with it our selves. We shouldn't have to.
Damn - how hard is it to put in some kind of random time check to see if a player is present at their computer while mining. Have a random code come up requesting the player input the code to verify they are present. This would go a long way to stopping the macroers from ruining the game for legitimate players.
Seriously CCP - please get this under control.

How do you know they are a botter? Because they do not respond to request to talk and or they are on when I stop playing and back on when I return at different times of the day and night - still mining away.
By having a random code pop up and requesting the miner to input it would verify that they are present. It would pop up at various odd times and if it is not input within a short period of time the botter is kicked from the game. If they are actively mining.

CCP might look into macro mining in 18 months after they are done ruining the game we all love.
Until then, CCP seems to endorse macro mining.

Could you imagine how many bowls of rice/ramen, or potatoes wouldn't be delivered to the hungry little bellies of far-off children if macro-mining were effectually countered?
Even more important is how the economy would be effected, to include the price of your precious hulk.

Yes. Yes, you have. You have proved that you haven't quite thought your ideas through to the end.
People not answering you is not proof of anything except that they don't care to talk to someone who behaves like your bog-standard griefer. People playing isn't proof of anything except that they're playing a lot. Your solution doesn't work because there's nothing to stop the bots from automating the code input as well.

How about you contribute? So far, you've expressed that there's a problemà but you have thoroughly ambiguous and useless proof of this. You have suggested a complete non-solution. You don't want to discuss the issues your raise or the problems connected to those issues.

I think your 'facts' and 'reasoned arguements supporting my position' are confusing them Tippia, since they dont seem to understand these concepts.
The simple fact is that there is nothing CCP could reasonably implement that could not be taken into account by a sufficiently sophisticated macro program. They do the best they can and I salute them for it.

While playing STO I have met many Eve players who are quite happy to admit that they bot, claiming it is the only way to play the game. A quick Google will find many Eve Online bot programs. There are many video clips on youtube where you can watch bots in action.
All this is, of course, not proof. But makes me think that somebody who denies that Eve Online has a botting problem is either very naive or a botter themselves.

Honestly though, I don't think it's against the EULA to semi afk mine, meaning you leave your ship going until the cargo fills up. Most miners probably don't stay 100% alert at all times so you can't really be sure they're macros just because they don't respond to you.

I routinely get ignored by miners. I steal their ore, loot their wrecks and do all sorts of things to get their attention and try to **** them off. The SMART ones ignore me and go about their business. The not so smart ones throw little tantrums and usually end up in their pods.

1. Because there's a chance he might blow up your exhumer. Target him as a catalyst or arty thrasher. Also, anyone at the keys is going to make some kind of action: move to a different belt, reply back, something.
2. Because its hard to coincide. I'm talking just checking for a few minutes at different times in the day. The average person is not going to be on a lot of different times: work, classes, etc. Do it for a few days if you worry to screen accidents. Ask corp members to check too.
3. That's why they distort them, or put them in a gif, to prevent reading.
In any case, CCP will have tools and be able to watch accounts who is suspected of being a bot. Players simply cannot mine for 16-24 hours a day. Let them check to see if you doubt players ability to determine it, and let them deal with it.

... that idea is more like an insult isn't it? So mining is crappy and instead of fixing it and adding some actual "game-experience" into it, you want them to go the easy way (again) and use a captcha check? WTF!?
The only way to fix mining is to make it interesting and to some degree challenging. Otherwise it will never be worth the time investment. Nothing easy ever is. -

Only way I can think to "solve" macro-mining is to remove belts from hi-sec. Make "hi-sec minerals" like veldspar and scordite available on the market from NPC vendors.
All low-sec and null-sec belts stay the same.
You can imagine the uproar from such a change, considering most the playerbase resides in hi-sec.

As much as I hate cheating in games - which botting definitely is - a few facts:
1. There's not a single mmorpg game around without botters; 2. Afaik CCP has never ever banned macro miners solely for macro mining itself. They only ban you when you sell the profit for RL money; 3. How to prove someone's a botter/macro miner? a) bumping doesn't mean anything. Every Hulk player doesn't watch their mining lasers yield ore for 15 minutes, at least I definitely don't. Everyone is afk or does other things on a 2nd account; b) doesn't respond to convo: same thing. Next to that, some poeople may not speak english and the EULA doesn't say you have to answer every convo request; c) 23/7: some people suffer from insomnia and can stay awake for weeks;
What CCP should do is making botting impossible by constantly changing some game mechanisms so the programs don't work.

Now do you honestly believe that to ever be possible? I sure as hell don't.

What hasn't been macro'd in Eve? Find that and then see if it's possible to make a mining version of that.
For example, combat mission running might not be easily macroable. How would/could you make mining act enough like combat mission to prevent macroing? Maybe, introduce a chance for mining ship loss if you're not paying attention?
Also, why is it in CCP's (and probably most players') interests to eliminate macro-mining? Macro-miners bring in subscriber money for CCP and they keep mineral prices low, which means that ships and ship component prices are lower. I'm going to guess that ship combat and industry brings in more active subscribers than mining. It might actually be bad for Eve if macromining were to be completely eliminated?

The largest reason they can do this and ignore your attempts to contact them is because the game supports the ability to stop everybody from contacting you. If they remove this feature - and make the game client smaller and possibly faster as a result - then this problem goes away. People would still have to spend ISK to contact you of you have it turned on, and it does nothing to harm people not using scripts.
We already have systems in place to limit spam, etc.. and this is an MMO, so the key thing here being "multiple player".. so this feature seems to me to exist only to be abused or limit the fun of the game. So remove it.
