I was wondering what the pros & cons were for fitting two identical ships with different launchers?
1) Assault launchers with standard missiles
2) Heavy launchers with heavy missiles
Taking into consideration that the ship can accept both and I have the skills.
If this question cannot be answered simply without knowing the ship, then it's a Blackbird.

Standard missiles hit smaller targets (frigates, destroyers, cruisers) better.
Heavy missiles do more damage to larger targets (battlecruisers and battleships) and have greater range.
Usage depends on your expected targets and engagement range. ---------- My typical ship fit:
Highs: teeth Mediums: claws Lows: nads

A Blackbird operates at long ranges, thus you want to use HM on it. However, your "classic" weapons are the least of your worries, not having any missiles at all will hardly make a difference in combat and leaves you with more cpu/grid if your having trouble with proper fitting.

My blackbird has empty highs. or a nos. to....u know. NOS stuff.
Either way, a blackbird should fit a prop mod, 4 ECM's and a sensor booster. Then rig it for optimal and strengh, and fit a 1600mm in the lows
This will result in a cruiser jamming with 10 strength with 100 optimal 88 falloff, huge locking range, a 16k buffer. When stuff gets too close, warp off, and warp to your m8s at 100, continue jamming.
Its an awesome ship to use

Considering distance as possibly the most important aspect of this, I have decided to go with option one, as I only really want to deal with close up annoying small ships, as the rest of the fleet would be dealing with the chunkier stuff. If something larger targets me, I probably would not have the time to deal with it anyway.
Many thanks for you input...

Lol, you said "if". You will be primary, weapons are useless. You will get one jam cycle off and then evaporate - make sure you pick a good target to shut up for 15 seconds (logistics, recon, other ECM, dominix)
