This was the promise:

Then there are the many graphical glitches like no portraits or logos being rendered on entry level cards while being listed as supported.
Meanwhile you can read some DEVs from CCP bragging in the forums about how great they can run 150 clients on one machine when they turn off the graphics.
Well give that power to your users to further turn down the graphics or revive the classic client to make it playable again. I will not start even start about server lag here, but meanwhile it should be obvious that this is also a major problem with the game.

Old cyno effects and engine trail? yes please
but it wont fix lag, Apocrypha lag was actually pretty damn playable

Forget the reversion to classic, too old, not supported.
I want them to release of the thin client to the public.
and further more why do i even need a sig? |

edit: Any machine that's not 10 years old will run the game absolutely fine. Eve doesn't run on something you've been using since before this decade? That is completely NOT CCP's problem.

Actually, i have an 3 year old comp in the garage that wouldnt play eve 2 years ago in classic client. And no it wasnt an e-machine for instance.

Actually, i have an 3 year old comp in the garage that wouldnt play eve 2 years ago in classic client. And no it wasnt an e-machine for instance.
Fixed it for ya. And I demand specs! I also accuse you of having 50 viruses.

My computer is far newer then that yet over the past 6-8 months I've seen a quite horrendous drop in performance with the client. 8 months ago I could run 3 clients in a large fleet fight on a busy node just fine; now I can't run a single client in a small fleet fight without getting 2 FPS and my computer wanting to kill itself. And it's gotten a hell of a lot worse in Tyrannis.

Server lag. Nothing to do with your computer, and everyone gets it. A thin client would do nothing.

Dunno about classic client, but I'd kill for some real control over performance elements. You know, similar to what CCP advertises as things you HAVE to turn off to deal with hectic environments (which nowadays also includes a 14 man FW gang jumping into an empty system and emergency warping all over the place and subsequently being stuck - amazing).
Serious though, they said they can't do the classic version anymore because of something of resource allocation. It being too much work in reference to their metrics of how many player accounts active in what game niche and what those do when and more of that. But let's not go into CCP's metrics. It's pretty clear that the cluster performance is better then ever
But further and simplified control that builds upon what CCP themselves advertise that helps in dealing with the shiny would be seriously great in the client settings. We can turn off some effects, but NOT the ones that pose the biggest load when stuff goes hectic and fun. We can turn off animations, but again not all of them. We have no control over the things that pretty much go out of the window as the first thing to break, services that connect to the client like channels.
I know, comes across as wireframe mode. But tbh, going over this stuff in a few alliances and corps one thing pops up quite a lot: we care more about the results of actions, the intensity of being busy with it, the engagement of taking risk for the kill and really flying around, then about the shiny - complete with awful cyno / eccm / sensor booster / etc effects.
Performance options. Really. And yes, that probably means checking under the hood, but let's be honest .. it already looks and feels like the cluster as well as the client already feature some sort of degrading system for services and elements. Look at how chat channels are the first thing to just crap out, the capacitor second, the weapon animations third, etcetera.
If this included client side elements, that would probably make a lot of people happy. Especially those damn notebook users pretending to work but instead working EVE And if it included server side interactions, like those friggin services that always show up bright red in the log server during mass testing, like channels, that maybe could have an interestingly positive bonus. It's worth having a look at at QA.

classic client was way better, shame it was phased out, minmatar ships really got shafted with the new graphics, (back when the vagabond didnt look completely stupid) and the old effects got replaced by generic wormhole circly effect thingy shortly afterwards.
I would love to see the classic client back but its never gonna happen because its all about the streamlined developement process and new features and shiny stuff these days instead of fixing the little things that make a game great (and the big things that break a game)

I could go for an Elite type client with the wireframes.....would not mind one bit.
Pretty graphics are nice. But, they're not everything. And when you're interested more in playing a game than taking in the graphics, they don't mean all that heck of a lot.

No. Get a proper gaming machine and stop playing games on a Pentium II with TURBO MODE.
Also, classic client was entirely rendered by the CPU, making it very inefficient. If you cannot afford a mid-ranged GPU for your GAMING rig, then you're not in the right hobby. Go play badminton or something.

bringing back two clients would only mean 2 sets of bugs for ccp to ignore for 18 months per client.

I built a pc back in '02 (is now my download machine)
It runs eve fine.
I could easily see going 2 years earlier and provided a half decent video card (for the time) and actually having a decent stick of ram in all your slots and not having one iota of a problem running eve.
I think ppl itt have no clue between client/pc performance and server performance.

Not only that, but the difference between their PC's performance and the client's performance. If your PC runs like **** doing **** on the internet, or anything else, of course it's going to run Eve ****tily.

Unfortunately, the thin client lacks any user interface at all, and can only be used by scripts (aka: macros).
