a griefer corp declared war on my corp and they demanded 200 mil ISK to cancel it. Since the war we haven't been able to mine and 3 or 4 of our members (2 were really active) quit. I petitioned and was told that this sort of extortion is OK.
My question is: how can we get them to stop the war? It seems that there's no way out since dont pvp and they have 4 active members who all pvp. We're mostly missioners and miners.

Edited by: Ehnea Mehk on 09/08/2010 01:42:21 ODATRIK Mining Corporation is also a target of a WARDEC as well. We however found this document very helpful.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/4768288/Surviving-a-War-Dec
Our CEO is using some techniques in a book on passive resistance that has also proven effective in dealing with this WARDEC.
Judith Hand, "A Future Without War: the Strategy of a Warfare Transition".
We are managing very well with our business during this WARDEC
Good luck with your own situation. Ehnea Mehk |

Get everyone into nub ships and swarm them. Who cares if you kill anything. Just swarm them over and over again.
I know I'd get bored with that.
But this is high sec pvp, where neutral RR and station games provail. So who knows what kind of boring things they enjoi.

In the document I gave you, there is a technique where you create an alt, make that alt a part of your corp and then you leave the corp while that alt serves as a placeholder. This will allow you to go out and mine to keep yourself going while the WARDEC is raging on because you are now protected by CONCORD again. You can mine to make ISK to pay the WARDEC'rs or just to keep yourself going and active.
When the wardec stops, then you return to your corp and delete the alt unless you want to keep it. Ehnea Mehk |

Fly far far away, seriously, leave the area, they won't follow. You chose to join a PC corp, so you chose to be open to this sort of thing. It is always sad when people quit eve, and learned to handle the war dec should be part of the tutorial process, because it is very different than other games.
The alt solution is the most amusing one, and works as well TO CCP: The implicit promise of polished quality keeps me playing through the rough times. Don't let the Trolls keep you from your goals. |

My way would be make jumpclones. move them to some otehr high sec system far far away more then 1 jc is good and spread them out they attack you jump to the clone farthest away. use retrivers their cheap and when/if big if there they finaly make it to where you are which is unlikely since most grifers dont like working for their kills they will end up droping the decor you jc to another location either way you can go back to mining and once they get bored you can go back to your orginal area.

I LOLed.Pretty much this.
You are miners and mission runners and you cant come up with a lousy 200 mil between the lot of you? Thats just sad. Really sad.

The surrender mechanic lets you pay a standard fee (25mil iirc?) and have the wardec nullified. Boring and lame, but an option nontheless.

Should ... not .... tell ... you ..... but will anyway
There is one weapon you can employ; boredome. Make sure you do not provide them targets. Wardecs cost ISK, no isk/kills gained during the war means no reason to prolongue.
Forget mercs at this point in time. Tho a lot of mercs wont agree I guess Just sit it out, go 30 jumps the other way, mission a bit, play the market, spin your ship. It will pass that way.
On the other hand; provide them with juicy targets and emo rage in local, and you'll have a long war ahead of you.

shoot them in the face until they don't have faces left, then shoot them some more. or hire mercs, or disband your corp. but the first one is the most fun, and hopefully you can exorcise yourself of that whole 'mining' thing. ~ |

As far as I know, that only works if both sides accept the surrender. One of my first noob corps got grief-decced, the CEO surrendered, and we still got pounded for the next week.

Grow a backbone and fight back, with resources you have (aka, hire people, buy T1 frigs and go pewpew).
It's a shame they did it to you, but they could just as well petition and whine about not being able to play eve they WAY they do it. It is a "war" game after all and you should be able to defend your turf (or way of life). At the moment someone said "no" and most of you quit. A corp where I was got wardecced and guess that we did? We started bolting turrets and such on our POS and started hauling ammo and ships to use in the war. We also mined so we could build stuff for the war. Of course it was one of those wars where we never actually saw a war target. It ended fast without any kills i think :) The main thing being that we reacted to it. You just quit.
Shame they do this, but I have no respect for those who quit and whine about it. Specially those two actives one. If they have played eve they should know better. Stop whining. |

Use a jumpclone with no implants or cheap ones. Get some T1 frigates and go pewpew.
If you ever get the chance, pod them.
Make the industrialist surprise fleet: a bunch of haulers with a couple of Procurers as tacklers. Sure, the fleet sucks for PVP and your ship will probably die, but if you do get a kill with this fleet the killmail would have you ROTFL in Corp Chat for weeks. Get fraps of this if at all possible.
Now is a good time to improve your standings with other factions. Go 30 jumps or more from home and mission far away from your usual haunts.
Use the killboards of your foes against them: look up the corporation on the killboard, find every player in that corporation and add them to your contacts list. You can then see when they log on and off; then you know when it is safe to do your thing and when it is best to stay docked.
Use locator agents to find your foes. Then run away or engage.

Here is some tips I find handy in a war.
General
Don't go AFK in space this can not be stressed enough
Never use faction items or tech 2 ships that you have know experience with, these will just be killboard stats and income that will increase the war length.
Never except convo's from stangers(they could tip them off) or mention your in a war or smack talk.
Create a hauler alt out of corp to bring you supplies and use shuttles to get around only unless in a combat fleet. It takes a day of traing to get a Bestower.
Avoidence
When doing missions do them 20 odd jumps away. Keep local open and fit a cloak. If a war target enters local warp 100km away from a Belt or planet and cloak. This will help to avoid station camps.
When mining do it again 20 odd jumps away and watch local like a hawk AFK is your worst enemy.
Leaving a corp for a while because you need money is a good solution, you can rejoin when needed
Combat
Get Eve Fitting Toll for all members.
Fleets and TS or Vent are required, even Eve voice is better then nothing. Always be in a fleet. Stay organized and unified why be alone when you can bring friends. Finally have a fleet comander and a backup fleet comander to call target, put all your DPS on that target then switch when it pops. The Prophocy, Drake and Maller make excellent FC ships as they are last on the primary list.
Frigates and Cruisers are your friend. The Rifter, Incursus, Punisher, Griffen and Merlin are excelent frigs at a great price. Vexor's, Thorax's, Moa's, Arbi's, Blackbird's and Rupture's are the best low skill Cruisers in the game. Make use of these and your ISK losses will stay low. You can try Battlecruisers(best class). I recomend the Hurricane, Drake and the Harbinger, but make absolute sure there fit right and you can afford to lose them.
Have your fleet roam, if they dock move on and don't station camp. They will call in a more experienced fleet. Hope to catch them on a gate alone where there most vunrable.
Your a minning corp, if you have an Orca have it leave the corp, they make great cloakable moble bases for safe spots. You can re-fit and re-arm your ships or change ships while avoiding station camps.
Fitting, buffer and brawler will serve you best. Fit a MWD and close range weapons I.E. Blasters, AC's, Pulse. You should not use reppers(unless experienced with them in PVP). For Armor, Plates and ENAM and always a DCU, with a Dmg Mod or 2 (Gyro's, Heat Sinks, Ect). For sheild a Sheild Extender and or Invun, Dcu and Dmg mods in the lows. A scram or disrupter is required. Research tried and true fits(there are many for speed or tank for frigs) using eve search and ships and mods, look around and double check your fit before you undock(LOL mails encourage them more and make you look foolish).
This is mostly theory craft with a little experence(never killed in a war yet). If anyone has anything to add or correct, it would be appreciated. Fly Safe

Do it like Ehnea said:
Create an alt and make him ceo of your corp to act as a placeholder. The other corp members leave the corp and are thrown into noobcorps. Now do your business as usual.
When someone of the griefer-corps attack you watch ultimate concord power.
Or disband old corp and create new one for several times, which will lighten griefer-corps wallet. Note that CCP will NOT be fond of this tactic.
But the first one will make griefer-corp die from boredom. NEVER PAY A RANSOM!
Hope this helps.
