Topredoes do up to 400hp damage.
now if you fire them obviously they are slow as a stoned snail, BUT on hitting a target they only do around 150 - 250 damage most of the time. The splash damage from teh explosion on seems to affect the ship it was aimed at.. so not much good on groups either.

your avergae heavy missile is MUCH faster, does around 150 damage all the time (its listed as 150hp damage in stats)

now why on earth would you use Torpedoes? most ships with missile launcher slots can mount 2 or 3 h50 launchers. shove heavy missiles in them and 2 heavy missiles = 300 damage almost guaranteed. fly faster and do more damage.

Torps seriously need looking at, they need more skill to use, fly slowly, have a huge explosion radius. yet do less damage (time wise) than heavy missiles?

they should do at least 800hp. if not then speed them up and make them cheaper to produce.

Same for mines... 30hp damage.. usualy do about 24, they suck. they should do at least 120hp each, you can ignore them and fly through a whole fields of the things with just a shield booster on and they wont scratch you.. just make a nice light show.

They both need fixing.

Clearly missiles need all kinds of adjustment. Right now they're more of a joke than a threat...for God's sake, the only valid missile tactic is MWD'ing to point blank range and crapping out missiles literally on top of your target.

Lower the firing times. Up the fitting req's, but lower weight. Make them fireable quicker.

OR

Keep the current firing times. Up the speed, and up the damage...get it to the point where getting hit by a heavy hurts a LOT (currently about 60% of my turret damage) getting hit by a torpedo is LETHAL, and getting hit by a Cruise is YOUR ASS.

As it is, slow + heavy + low damage + easily avoided + expensive = worthless.

I agree that missiles in general need an overhaul, but Im also wondering if guns are doing to much damage. Perhaps the range mods will get guns back into line, but will it be enough to ballance with the damage from missiles? In R/L, 9 out of 10 targets hit by a missile are destroyed. In EVE a missile hit is about the same as 2-4 hits from a gun.

Be carefull what you ask for

Missiles are supposed to be used as a complimentary weapon to regular armament , not a general win button .

The missiles you want to up the damage on will mean they will give the pirates with the endless supply much more firepower .

It will also give someone the ability to MWD to you , lierally nuke you with a missile boat in a matter of seconds and then run away again .

Right now the guns are still far too powerful , when a player can load up a ship with mods that allow him to destroy a ship in 5 seconds ( im talking cruisers and indys here ), there is something very wrong .

Mines i agree should be higher damage but should not be able to be placed together in such a dense field . Maybe dropping them close together should cause them to trigger each other on a chain reaction .

What I want? Think PT boat. I think it'd be kind of funny to see suicide squads in Kestrels chucking highly damaging torps against a cruiser or battleship. That'd be funny...and horrible. But mostly funny.

I say leave missles more-or-less where they are but lower turret damage. Turret damage may already be lowered significantly in next patch due to Surgical Strike fix, but that remains to be seen.

Once turret damage comes out of the stratosphere, missles will start to look a lot better in their current form.

I think Cruise missiles are worth it and better than heavy missiles... Torpedoes are crap at the moment... Cruise missiles are better I think.

Understand, if it matters to someone, when you kill with a torpedo you destoy all their loot and pod along with the ship.

They are the neatest weapon in the game when used right and work. There is just something so satisfying and classy about taking someone out with such old age type technology ;) ,

another thing, Rockets. now i dont use these things, but on a frigate they WOULD be damn usefull. if you could fit a larger number of them in a launcher that is. rocket launcher should hold lots of them and fire even faster than it does.

im not asking for things to be made uber for the sake of it, just pointing out a clear imbalance.
