I can see the use of agrotimer when someone for exemple flip a can or do som 1vs1 that way or some other criminal that get the timer going but why dont make it easier? Just take away the timer from npc. then u only have timers if their is peps involved. Easier for nev people to see the diffrens.

Does that really affect macro ratters? I thought the aggro timer only matters for PVP aggression.

There really isn't an agro from rats. You can still shoot a rat and dock or jump a gate without delay.

If you fire on a npc you still have the 30sec (or was it 1 min? I forget which) agro timer in which you cannot jump/dock. Plus you will still stay in space for 15min if you log off after firing or being fired on by an npc.
That is really all rat agro does, but if you are hunting someone who has been ratting and they logoffski, you have 15min (or however long is left on their agro timer) to probe them down, courtesy of the local rats. -------------------------------------------------

No that's not true, you can jump through gates straight after shooting rats.

I call b.s. As matter of fact client froze up 30 secs into mission today had to logoffski immediately relogged and was in warp dropped out of warp right back where I was (was shooting and being shot at when gun cycle froze after popping rat)

You still emergency warp out when you disconnect you know. Logging back in and seeing yourself in warp back to your original location is normal (unless it's something like a mission with acceleration gates, then you'll go back to the first gate).
When you log off you do an emergency warp 1 million km away from your current location, your ship sits there for the duration of your agro timer and then vanishes from space. When you log back in, your ship will then warp back to the original point you logged out of. Unless you've been probed out and tackled that is.
Baghtar, I can very clearly remember Aura's voice telling me "the stargate deny's you permission to jump for the moment" after shooting rats at the gate. Acceleration gates are different and will let you use them even while you're still shooting.
Edit: spelling -------------------------------------------------

I live in low sec doing lots of PvP, so my sec status is hurting. When on roams and such, if we see a cruiser or higher rat on a gate we all light him up for the sec status, before immediately proceeding to jumping the gate and moving on.
Rats don't impede jumping/docking at all, that's only player aggression.

There is a very easy way to test this. In fact, go to the test server if you can't bare the thought of risking getting ganked in a newb ship.
Get a newb ship, fly to low sec, find some rats on a gate. Shoot at one of them until they aggro you. Try to jump. ----- Andreus Ixiris CEO, Mixed Metaphor
