I've been watching the armor HAC gang videos and wondering why a similarly fitted Vagabond fist wouldn't tear it apart?
Even armor tanked, the Vagabonds are going to be very fast. They'll have an even smaller sig than Zealots. They have ridiculous EMP resists. Most fittings include nuets which could drain the Guardians. A Vagabond fist--on paper--looks like the perfect counter; so why isn't it in game?

I'm not in any of these gangs, but a guess would be that the Zealot gangs are most effective overall, while a vagabond gang would just be better against the zealot gangs specifically. So unless you know excactly what you are up against (in which case you win because of falcon) you would be better of with a zealot gang. Again, just my specultion.

Edited by: Drykor on 21/08/2010 17:07:31 Probably the range at which you can actually apply your whole dps, i.e. not in falloff and not with drones. Also medium neuts have a **** range. Also less low slots for armor mods and damage mods.

They don't do it so much anymore but back in there pirate days you could see them running around "Old Man Star" and other low sec systems in that area with 12-15 Vagabonds doing nothing but killing pretty much everything they wanted too.
Between all of them the gate guns couldn't do enough dmg, when 1 got low he'd just warp out let gate gun(s) goto someone else in his fleet. It was fun to watch, Id follow them in my cov ops from time to time just watching them kill tons of stuff.

Help me out--I'm curious and inexperienced.

A vagabond fist would be able to punch through a lot of targets...

Mainly because the SFI is the better stabber hull for Armourhac gangs, its not just about the resists but the sig radius. SFI can fit 220s and a plate easily, where as the vaga is a lot tighter. SFI is also cheaper..

Edited by: Marko Riva on 21/08/2010 23:28:40 - Sig radius is bigger due to shield extenders and shield rigs - zealot+scorch gives a better (effective) range than vaga+barrage. - no ammo usage so no problems with reloading/lag (also faster ammo swap) - logistics rely on having their own cap chain, for a shield tanked group that would imply Basilisks which (being shield based) gets you into that sig problem again, apart from that the Guardian just performs better.
Armor tanking a Vaga is just plain no, you'll have a huge resists hole (albeit not against zealots) and you simply lack the slots to tank and have damage/range mods.

This^ also the Vega is in no way a tough ship. On the contrary it has a paper thin tank and mid Dmg at best. It's strength lie in its speed and range, with it's most common set-ups the idea is to orbit outside Stasis Webber range at about 60% fallof of your guns.
You Speed or Range tank most of the incoming DPS of the target, by using your suppior speed to keep webs and scrams of of you. For a Minmatar gang I would go with the Fleet Issue Stabbers or Muninns, with a tank styled after the rupture with a Gaurdian flying support.

When it comes down to armor, a Vaga fails too much compared to the SFI. --- I smack just for myself. Allow faction cap boosters to be traded via normal market ! |
