Just a question. Can they scam you, and take all your stuff or is this thing legit.

Of course they can scam you.
However, I have used it and they are in my experience trustworthy.

It's legit.
It's not a CCP service or anything, it's run by some Eve players, but it's been going for years and they've earned a reputation as trustworthy.
Of course, there's the potential on any given day someone says "**** it" and steals all the ISK on their end, but that's a potential risk with any player-run operation.

Isn't it funny how every gambler claims to always 'come out on top' ?
EOH is pretty cool tho

EOH poker is legit, it's not (thus far) a scam. I played it.
That said, EOH poker is a somewhat poor texas holdem experience. The way their system deals with the cards, results in what should be "rare" hands occurring far to commonly. To be honest, I quit playing precisely because it's no longer a game of skill when certain hands happen to commonly. It's kinda like playing with a couple of wilds. It's still fun, and it's still cards, but it's not the same game as what I consider "texas hold-em" until they fix their system.

Well, everyone else say that it's legit, but I've never got that 10mil ISK added to my EOH account when I tried to join it. And, yeah... I've triple checked that I've entered everything correctly.
It was probably a "glitch in the billing system", but I can't be bothered to try it out again. (Not that I have time to play now anyway ).

Probably an honest glitch. 'Cause lets face it, 10Mill isn't anywhere near enough to risk their rep on is it?

Please explain why poker 'Legends' are now getting rolled by nobodies who just started playing online a few months before. Should have just kept the amateurs away from them, in order to perpetuate the fantasy of skill being a major factor.
I know there's tricks to it, like everything, but it still all boils down to luck if they work or not.

Edited by: Selene D''Celeste on 01/09/2010 03:31:22 Sabine pointed me here, and I wanted to say thanks for the kind words. It's always good to ask around and investigate yourself before trying anything new in EVE (including EOH) because, as you can see, opinions do indeed vary =D
I did want to respond to this post though:
Originally by: Antihrist Pripravnik Well, everyone else say that it's legit, but I've never got that 10mil ISK added to my EOH account when I tried to join it. And, yeah... I've triple checked that I've entered everything correctly.

I try to keep anything, even a few million ISK, from slipping through the cracks. Our tools are much better at catching mistakes these days as well. The proper way to have things like this addressed is to make a help ticket via the Help Desk on the website (viewable once you log in), and provide useful information (character depositing, deposit time, deposit amount, etc). I work through the stack of tickets at least a couple of times a week and reset passwords and track down deposits as needed.
The bottom line is even though we try, sometimes mistakes happen, but I won't know unless someone tells me!
Edit: In addition to what Sabine said above on rakes, all ring tables other than the beginners tables are raked 3-5% with 2 x BB caps. I think the highest demigod table is 2.5% as well. ______________________________

Someone's asking if a gambling game is legit or a scam? Don't you realise that gambling is the most legitimate scam on the planet, short of girls getting guys to buy them drinks down at the pub.

In poker, you're not betting against the house, you're playing against other players. In games where you bet against the house, the odds are never in your favor. On a long enough timeline, you will lose it all. In games against other players, you're only as good as your skill vs. the skill of your opponents. So it's not really a "scam" form a gambling. Luck does play a factor, but not so much as other games.
In poker, the new players don't realize how much skill is involved, and the old players tend to forget how much luck is involved.

As a relatively new player (eight months old), I have played the free roll tournament games and have come in second place twice and third place once (along with fourth place and lower). The top three positions will pay in chips which can be converted into ISK. So while I have 1100 chips currently in game (or 110,000,000 ISK converted into Eve), I have cashed out part of my first winnings and gained 50,000,000 without spending one ISK.
So perhaps I am scamming them! *joking*
*still steamed about not winning first place this past Sunday and missing out on the bonus prize of a Firetail. Yes, someone was giving away a ship to the first place winner and I lucked out being the last one to loose...

It varies on EOH from 20% to 5%.

Not really. Texas Hold'em was perfected by math and probability. If you can count cards and know how the math works you can win games easily. The "Legends" never had the technology to mathematically "solve" poker or the ability to play/simulate thousands of games. Welcome to technology. On another note, I also have an annoying sig. |

In addition to what Selene (The owner, for those of you who didn't know) has already said, id like to add that we take collusion very seriously - and in most cases where it affects the game play, it is caught and dealt with swiftly and decisively. If, while you are playing you suspect players of colluding, please report it to the banker on duty who can be found in the EOH Games channel.
I'd also like to address this:

Details on the amounts raked from various game times are available to view here. As you can see, the highest raked game is the lowest stakes tournament we provide - 28mil, which is raked 3mil (8.3%). Aside from that, and 54m games, all tournament games are raked 5%. the only exception to this is special event games, such as ship games, which are usually raked around 10%. _______________________________
