This is a HUGE HUGE speculation, but the DEV present at PAX did specify that "everyone who participated in the Sansha Incursion (although you don't get to kill the Mothership)" gets the special item. I suppose that means there will be thousands of BPO/BPC handed out for a limited time for anyone who participated in the event, but won't be available afterward?
That's how I read it. Once again, just a huge speculation.
This would do wonderful things to the price of Amarr Navy / True Sansha LP.

True true, but I just don't see any other way around it. I can imagine a huge outcry from the general populous if only the "lucky individual" gets to loot those BPOs.

-Liang
To be fair. I don't really see a complaint in there.
What I see is a fair jab at those epic pirate arcs that, surprise surprise, somehow didn't really hit the other factions and are still only available for the same factions as when they were released.
It's a testament to the fact that even "copy and paste" development, is more that CCP is willing to invest in EVE at the moment. I'm sure that "incursion copy and paste development" will be different... oh wait, no, I'm not.

Either case, it's quite amusing that the new expansion has two primary goals. One is Incursion, the other is.. to fix what was released just recently. Normally CCP takes a few years to fix stuff they released, but now supposedly PI is so game breaking wrong that it needs a new expansion to fix what was broken before.

Fixing broken things quick is great.
Balancing something right after launch, when it's in a 'working' condition and not gamebreaking, while there's gamebreaking "features" that existed for years.. is a bit odd.
CCP gets alot of credit from people, me included, for stuff they do good. Pointing out stuff that is bad, doesn't make it 'complaining' - if it contains some suggestions for focus/improvements. Then it's suddenly constructive critisism. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |

Yeah we should save this stuff for the big alliances and the rich folk
Unique BPOs - don't care. Supercarriers? Just what Eve needs more of.
-Liang
Ed: Also, supercarriers are hardly stuff for "big alliances". LOL.
The feature itself actually sounds cool though.
The feature does indeed sound awesome, hopefully a bigger brother to Level 5's.
Though I imagine (hope) the BP's that drop will be a) extremely low chance drops and b) just copies, not originals.

I am not sure. The interview did say that anyone who participated in the Live Event (killing mothership) would get some kind of reward. I am sure it's not just mere ISK. Besides, it sounds not fair if only certain individual receives these super rare BPCs by random draw of luck. I do agree though that the blueprints should be copies.

Edited by: Ordais on 05/09/2010 11:23:06 Guys, use your brains for once.
CCP is working on 3 fronts atm, LAG + Incarna + Dust. This are the 3 main goals. Till Incarna is out, don't expect expansions packed with stuff! They said it themselfs, primary goal is to finally finish Incarna (oh, and Dust514 integration of course)
Incursions: well, its self explanatory that not everyone will get a supercarrier BPO right? you get some nice bpc for some item, some isk, or some faction stuff. Who cares. Its just some incentive for cooperative gameplay, and if it helps bringing more ppl to lowsec, say thank you. Wardec them and shoot them if you like.

Edited by: Borza Slavak on 05/09/2010 11:49:39 I just hope CCP implement attractive incentives for 'Sansha loyalists' in order to encourage pvp around these incursions too. If so, and the lag isn't too bad, this could be beautiful.
Also if blueprints looted are for some new mothership I imagine a whole raft will be needed, including new component BPOs as well as for the finished product.

CCP shouldn't avoid things just because other developers do them, and nor should they do things for the same reason. But if they can see how the inclusion of such a feature would help Eve, they should do it. And group based PVE helps Eve.
-Liang
I would love to see some group based pve, its more about the "5-40" bit (I'll admit I'm speculating here and very likely wildly speculating) but that just sounds like instanced crap that is just not fit for the Eve universe.
oh and mothership sounds like a fancy word for boss and not super carrier.

Assuming this patch doesn't break any existing game features I won't complain about a free expansion. However it does seem rather small, no doubt due to all the resources being tied with walk in stations.
Speaking for myself I wouldn't mind if CCP put out an expansion with a price tag if it meant a new sound/graphic engine along with a decent chunk of new content.

incursions sounds excellent, I would love for some new pve content that doesnt involve wormholes.
As for the bp drops, great! Not like there will be hundreds of them or anything.
Really do hope that I can revamp and totally change merkins look when this change comes as well I never did like it one little bit. Proving natural selection and Charles Darwin wrong since 1981.

My money says its gonna be waiting for the pve players to clear the rats, then hotdrop them with over 9000 supercaps to kill them all and grab the shiny blueprint.
That, and the inevitable question how many times said blueprint will survive dropping from the cargohold of a wreck.
Cooperative works as long as everyone gets the loot at the same time, and I suppose they wont hand out said blueprints to all 500 players participating.

Rare is different than unique. Furthermore, there's lots of room for "rare" and "unique" that isn't "supercarrier". The supercarrier plague has spread far enough.

Ha, Hesp and I were talking about the way this was gonna go down. It seems like: - 0.0: Superblob Alliances drop 50+ titans on the "mothership" and doomsday it on the first day. Scoop loot and cyno out. - Lowsec: Superblob Alliances + Pirates drop 100+ Supercarriers on the "mothership" and fighterbomber it to death on the first day. Cyno out if you start taking damage because you can't be scrammed. Scoop loot, cyno out. - High Sec: Ugh. Killing anything with massive quantities of HP. Ninja looters. I can't get in to play. Joy.
I think it might be ok if Concord held "thank you drawings" and placed the rewards in the lucky person's med clone hangar.

Anything involving the ammount of players needed to get a mothership and its supporting fleet down (whatever that might look like) needs to get a new looting system in place, otherwise i cant see it working out at all(if the blueprints or other shinies are not handed out, but are indeed in the wrecks). Otherwise, i can see myself in a cov-ops cloaked and keeping distance at 3 km of the mothership allready

Hmm this sounds very similar to a Public Quest in an RVR area :p ( That is from Warhammer Online in case you were wondering ).
I found PQ's a good idea and had fun with them especially in a PvP setting, so this sounds promising.

What happens when it turns out that the LP you are rewarded from killing NPCs in the Sansha invasions gives you access to The Society LP store, and it turns out that the blueprints don't actually drop from the mothership, but the LP store?
Why would you get Sansha LP for blowing up Sansha ships?

I like this solution a lot. You should definitely do something to promote it.
Quote: Why would you get Sansha LP for blowing up Sansha ships?
Nobody is suggesting that you would - they're suggesting that people running missions for Sansha should also have access to said wonderful mothership BPC.

Well, the current version of incursions are *mostly* happening in hi-sec, where the population is ('cause that's what Kuvakei and his True Slaves are after). If that remains the case, all this herf-durf about "OMGWTF Over 9000 SC hotdrop!!!!" crap won't be affecting the event.
Plus, sounds like an instanced dungeon, so I don't see how caps are going to "steal" the rewards.
á How many humans will CONCORD allow Master Kuvakei and his True Slaves to abduct? How many is too many? Too many have already been lost! 20M citizens on countless planets! |

Seconding this. Brilliant idea... now they jest need a couple more stations that won't ber permacamped in nullsec. ;-)
