Edited by: APH0DITE on 06/09/2010 22:32:05 I'm wondering if a Capital (dread for example) can warp out from a battle with scramblers and disruptors. I've read that when siege module is active, scramblers and disruptors don't affect the warp of the capital ship. So then, can you activate warp while siege module is active? Thank you!

Great, therefore I suppose that when you are Non-sieged and scrambled, you may activate the siege module, then scramblers and disruptors would not be able to be against you, therefore you disconnect the siege module quicky (while aligned) and warp. Is that correct? If not, how can you get away from enemies with scramble/disruptors without blowing them? Thnx!

No, you cannot align while in siege, your ship will be completely immobile. You also cannot deactivate the siege module when you want, it will always finish its cycle.

Since aligning for warp takes its time and the enemy will most likely be spamming his disruptors on you while you are sieged, you cannot simply warp away once your siege cycle ends.
You can try and have the exit cyno fired up, and hope you can manage to jump out before the dudes spamming their disruptors lock you down again. You need to have enough cap to jump though, so being neuted is a problem there.
Another option, if you have a carrier with you and there are not that many disruptors on you and there is no hostile HIC keeping you locked down, is refitting with warp core stabs using the carriers fitting service, then try a warpout or jumpout.
Edit: Sieging while already in trouble usually makes your situation a lot worse, as a general rule.

Great, thanks a lot for the info. What does HIC mean though?

HIC means heavy interdictor, a cruiser that can either create a warp disruption bubble or in lowsec use focused warp disruption. Both cannot be countered by warp core stabilizers.
In nullsec, light interdictors with their warp disrupt probes and mobile warp disrupt generators are a threat as well, they cannot be countered by warp core stabs either.
No offense, but given these are pretty much basics of pvp I think you should maybe get a bit of fighting experience before considering capital ships, they require solid knowledge of game mechanics if you dont wanna be ganked in your first engagement.

haha, well, im just begining, let's say I've been only 2-3 weeks learning from the basics. I'm right now focused on bc's and bs, and a stealth to start pvp. I have around 2,4m sp. I'm just curious on these stuff, and learn soon about the next things, as I'm pretty managing well with fits on BC + BS. Thanks again for the info ;)

basically it works like this:
lets take a dread(any will do)
if you arent sieged: you can be scrabeled, jammed, basically everything you can do to normal ship.
if you are sieged: your weapons will do HUGE ammount of more dmg, but have less tracking Your shield boosters and armor repairer will repair a lot more. you cant move, you cant warp, you cant dock, you cant jump. you cant be scrableed, you cant be webbed, you cant be jammed and so on. you have to wait the full cycle of the siege mode when its deactivated... so you cant just turn it on and off. ---------------------------------- Fighting for something

Theorycrafting because I've never flown a capital but couldn't you siege up, overload and logoffski?

It takes 15minutes for your ship to disappear under aggression so it's doable assuming your opponents can't bring enough DPS to wear down your passive HP's (which is you die in most cases).

If Siege mechanics of being immobile are anything like cyno mechanics, sure you can log off(from local), but your ship aint going to be dissapearing, even without aggression.

Has anyone tried this: - align full speed to an object - enable siege (speed dies down slowly) - hit warp ? [None] |

what part of 'you cant warp while in siege' dont you understand?
The warp button DOES NOT DO ANYTHING while you are sieged, except throw an error message.

When a dread goes into siege, it is stuck there for 10 minutes, there is no way around it. For those 10 minutes the dread is on its own tank wise; no remote repair or remote assistance modules of any kind can be used on a sieged dread.

If you're seriously desperate to move, you can warp a titan ontop of it for some serious bump action.

doesnt the siege mod add 900% mass?

It would seem so.
Hence my post has been altered:
If you're seriously desperate to move your titan, you can warp it onto of a sieged dread for some serious bump action.

Depending on the way CCP has implemented warp-denying this could work. It would be a bug if it worked, but stranger things happen in Eve.
It's reasonable to assume that it is possible one coder at CCP implemented warp-denial by setting thrust and agility to zero. So your attack on me personally is not appreciated. [None] |

I'd imagine they did something more like this:
if (!ship->isInSiegeMode()) ship->warp(destination);

Very unlikely, if you think about warp disruptors for a second.
