When asked about missing a relase date..
Dev: "It will be ready when it's done." Writer: "My soul is torn! The agony I feel is as deep as a canyon!"

So, raven prototype ? And talking about the scorpion having been invented prior to the raven ? That doesn't seem to match the backstory.

Yeah, that bugged the hell out of me. Plus there are some blatant oversights that suggest that the author was rushed.
Quote: The madams who reported to her all had three things in common: Stunning natural beauty, undeniable sensuality, a sharp memory, and origins in repressive poverty.
Yeah...

Edited by: Nyphur on 04/01/2005 04:35:23 Well, there are a few gramatical errors, a few confusing parts in the layout of events (though it IS 4:30AM and I'm incredibly sleepy) and such but this is shaping up to be one damn fine story. It's excellent that eve has things like this. I bet no other game goes into this kind of detail on the prime fiction and extensions of the prime fiction. It's one of those things that makes Eve more than just a game.
I do suggest, though, a final proof-read or two by someone other than the writer. Quite often, the writer will overlook simply mistakes like an extra "the" here or a scene that isn't portrayed well in text and thus gives a confusing image in the mind of anyone but thwe writer.
EDIT: Oh, and I think they got the Scorpion and the Raven the wrong way around when they wrote that story, given the description of both ships:
Scorpion: "The first Scorpion-class battleship was launched only a couple of years ago, and those that have been built are considered to be prototypes. Little is known of its capabilities, but what has been garnered suggests that the Scorpion is crammed to the brink with sophisticated hi-tech equipment that few can match." Sounds very much like the Raven from the story.
Raven: "The Raven is the powerhouse of the Caldari Navy. With its myriad launcher slots and powerful shields, few ships can rival it in strength or majesty." This suggests it is in well established use in the Caldari Navy, which the story attributes to the Scorpion.
There's nothing wrong with admitting they've made a mistake and going back and replacing "Raven" with "Scorpion" and the same in reverse, but if they simply leave this, it's going to be damn near impossible to justify, given the prime fiction.

Jesus, let's not turn into trekkies here. A few continuity slip-ups never hurt anyone. Besides, while the Scorpion is described to have been created recently, the Raven doesn't have any such specifics - this doesn't necessarily mean it's older. If I were the Caldari State and I had to make war with the Gallente, I'd first build hilariously tiny, easily manufactured battleships crammed with high-tech EW junk sufficient to shut down a much bigger Gallente BS, and only then, once my fleet was established, would I start cranking out the huge expensive warships.

Don't think the story takes place recently enough for scorpions to have been in use anyways. Depends on how old the CEO guy is in the current time when scorpions are supposed to be 3-4 years old.
