The new ships look great.. they're almost too good, they look like they're from a whole different game then the ships pre-exodus. I think the old ships need retextured. Gallente ships look good (mainly the megathron and the dominix) but the Ammar, minmater and caldari don't look half as good as the new ships.
simple retexture, thats all :| ________

Yeah cause thats what I said... right?
As far as you or I know, the guy whos currently fixing bugs, may be required in some manner to impliment the new textures, if thats the case...
Arghhh nevermind, I'm guessing its a little to complicated for some to understand

Don't excpect perfection as in a singleplayer game, in an mmorpg. Go try Anarchy Online, and see just how buggy the average mmorpg really is, I'd say EVE is one of the most bug free mmorpg's out there, and also the most detailed...

Yes, update the existing stuff to look prettier.. and while you are at it, throw in more super-low-res options for those of us playing EVE on our toasters.. because I for one sure need it.. I'd personally rather have an option to just take ship models out of the rendered scene all together.. have them and drones represented only by icons.. bet that would speed up battles considerably :)

When art textures are made, they're usually made at a high resolution, and then the texture quality is reduced when it is put in-game for better system performance. So, theoretically, the devs SHOULD still have high-resolution textures for all of the ships. If so, it should be simple for them to just update the current textures.

No its not complicated at all. I just have some understanding about how software houses work, and you dont.
New textures could be made in a matter of days, however the problem is having spare artists (I am not sure how many in house artists CCP have) and what kind of performance hit new (ie bigger) textures would make. CCP is a properly run team and the work is divided into several departments as it should be. Some random dev can't just go making fixes because people request them, or a bug is found. It has to be done by the proper team.
However even the good textures are quite horrible and pixelated when you zoom in. But this can not be rememdied without slowing down the client (bigger textures take longer to load and use more memory). --------------------------------------------------

Texture artist dont need to spend time fixing bugs
If CCP claims they got no time fo rthis then they are full of ****...Or maybe they already fired their texture guys so they can install an extra node
Originally by: cashman It's time for Eris to get a clue. CCP should make a statement about this.
It's the exact same things as what Zombie did, you may not attack in "safe-areas" (empire/within sentry range) without loosing your ship.

Yep... Fix the textures.. And while your at it... Scale up stations.. As they are way to small compared to the ships that dock in em.. :) ------------- Most tired of thing atm: - Mods on the forum saying: "Please use the bug report page to submit bugs, the forum is not the place to post them." and then closing a topic. |

A good solution could be to code in the ability to add play made texture moduals into the root directory which could superseed the standard game ones. Then release on the webside the texture templates, packaging tools and instructions to players on how to make thier own textures for the ships they love.
Make it only client side and ensure that the cloak cannot be altered.
Anyway to bring new content into the game is good even if its just giving the community the ability of putting a new skin on an old model.

A good solution would be to release the existing textures with the x,y,z positions of the shps so peeps could use 3D software to make new skins. Then CCP could have a competition for the best ones for each ship with the prize being that the skin becomes the in-game standard. CCP gets new textures for free leaving their Devs to work on getting the bugs out and lag down.
I am not lost in Insanity, I know my way around fine thanks ! ! !
