I've been playing Eve for 4 years now. I have 4 accounts in total. All this time, I've been a carebear across every account. It's just my nature. I've lived in lowsec and 0.0 during my time in Eve, but it was always very... friendly.
I have pewpew'd, I've even won, occasionally. But I always feel bad afterwards. I've even gone so far as to replacing a person's ship after I popped it. I can't help it, I'm just a nice guy. As such, I can't PVP, because I feel like an ******* for blowing up others people's stuff. It doesn't matter that they can return the favor, to me that doesn't balance the equation.
Now, I find myself bored (of carebearing, specifically), to the extent that I'm thinking of selling my characters and leaving for good. So, like I said in the title, what is a nice guy to do in Eve?

Keep your accounts, or at least your primary. As you well know, Eve isn't a game where you can grind to the cap in a few days when you start over. Even if you're bored now you might find in 6 months or a year that there are new things for you to do and you don't want to have to spend ages retraining all those skills again. That's just not fun.
Or, see if you can find something else. Settle in WH space, find a small low-sp corp and mentor them up. I'm sure other people will make other suggestions as well.

Have you played any RTS games? Such as Starcraft, or Command and Conquer? In those games you blow up people's stuff and it is expected, because they can get more.
In Eve they can get more too. I think what you are really missing is sense of purpose. There is little point in blowing up someone's ships without reason, some people get their kicks out of it, I don't, and it seems like you don't either.
If you need purpose, there are many good corps, perhaps the Free Intaki Movement, then you'd have a reason to fight.
If you want to discuss others, message me in game.

how about FW, everyone who signs up by default expects to get blown up (or Red vs Blue) and there is still a little carebearing involved in FW, so you can have your cake as it where.
he other thing is to just keep your main training and take a break, come back refreshed in 6 months or something

Best advice. Take a break, do something different. One day in about 3 months time you'll be dreaming about something in a late night slumber and your sub conscious will go, "auto pilot disabled, way point reached." and you'll be ready to get back into the grind.

I have moments of remorse as well sometimes and end up reimbursing the people that I like :)
The appeal of the hunt and the adrenaline will always pull me back to pvp and ebil gankage though.
Also I have met a few of my ingame palls due to being blown up, blowing them up or being decced. Great way to filter out people with a similar mindset, in my opinion.

Ive found that joining newer younger corps and helping them grow is fun. IE teaching ceo and members the basics and basicly being an anchor for the corp to go to for questons/emergency leadership.

To expand on this idea then head it along a tangent I like:
Start a small corp on an alt. Be really nice and generous to new members. Start an office in one of the high sec island systems. Get your newbie corp guys to pod jump into small high sec island. Give them mining ships and explain to them that they are prisoners in this high sec island and they need to give you 50mil trit a day for at least 20 days to earn an escort out through low sec again.

This or FW even. If you don't mind big alliances then join one and defend it against random piracy. Too bad there aren't many NRDS corp. It sounds like this would have been perfect for you as well.

At least until the first one figures out the two-way nature of pod jumping.

Find a service that you can offer to other people. Estel has his jumpclone service for players, maybe you can find something that can be just as readily available and helpful.

It's not the same at all. In RTS games you don't have to spend the same kind of time doing other activities to purchase your equipment. You get your pieces as a matter of course as you play a match. When the match is over, you move on.
EvE is forever, on the other hand. You can lose assets you spent months aquiring. The guy who blew you up is still gonna be around a year from now. To me, this tends to lend a feeling of ownership that RTS games just don't have.
I can certainly see where the OP is coming from in his post. However, I think if I became bored of industry and carebearing, I'd want to go out in a blaze of glory somehow.

Not that I am currently a big fan, but why not spend some time playing in Red vs Blue? You could help newer players with ship replacement, get some fun PvP, and well, of all the PvP out there, it's the one time you know people are expecting to lose their ships no matter what.

Grow a pair between you legs, and stop reinbursing people for their ships. The more sadistic, ruthless, and cunning you can be while getting away with murder are just a few fun things you can do in eve. Do what you can not do in Real Life. Kill people, steal, buy prostitues, be a ****. Hold people ransom. Tempt fait in engagements while being out gunned. Use pills in game to increase your ***** size, and then swing it around. Stop being a pansy, and dont take crap advice like joining eve uni to teach new players. Let the new players learn of your can flipping wrath. C
And if all else fails after trying all those things, then give me all ur stuff, but not until u have tried growing a pair.

Not knowing exactly what your 4 tons do, it's kind of hard to guess at where you should go next. As I said, for PvP try Red vs Blue...
However, what about starting your own empire? Find a nice Hi sec island, located a bit away from the main routes. Do whatever you need to anchor a large POS or more in the hi sec island. Then, start building a manufacturing empire there. Mine locally, setup orders for other minerals, etc. Basically, try to corner the entire market in that small island and become the sole provider or at least the main provider of all materials. Sure it would be tough, and honestly not possible if you don't also do invention, but still, at least for ships, basic ammo, drones, etc, you could form your own little hi sec domain.

Everyone knows the golden rule of EVE right?
By refraining from blowing people up while they are flying ships they can afford to lose (golden rule reference) you are directly harming multiple people.
The miner. The builder. If it was a faction ship or had faction mods the mission runner. The professional trader. The scam artist in Jita that would have made bank by selling the guy a CNR dirt cheap.
So by following your non-aggression policy (most of the time) you have economically violenced at least 2 to 3 other innocent people.
So knock it off, you animal. ===== If you go to Za'Ha'Dum I will gank you. |

Don't forget the trader! Some of us (me) live off the billions trade revenue brings. If people stop dying, modules and ships and ammo etc stop selling so fast, so any profit from moving items goes away!
