Edited by: dosperado on 30/12/2004 11:33:40 Edited by: dosperado on 30/12/2004 11:32:41 Due to the current bad incidents in south Asia I would have an idea, as we could help this poor humans there as EVE players.
Everyone donates as much ISK as you can miss or means donates to be able/have. The ISK are transferred to an certain character and each donation will be placed individually on a web page with height of the donated sum and name of the donor with corp/alliance.
The in such a way collected ISK amount is then auctioneered on ebay.com. Proceeds in euro or dollar are then transferred to a donation account for the tide victims.
I think so every EVE player can do his contribution to this century disaster and it even wont hurt your own money bag.
I would have to clarify the legal thing before with CCP (offence against EULA etc.) before I really start with this charity campaign.
What do you think of it?

Give to your local charity in stead. No hassle with EULA's, no chance of falling for the biggest and dirtiest scam in Eve ever (not calling you a scammer, just pointing out the possibility)

Its not illegal, it will just get you Banzored!!!1111.
And its much easier (and dont have to worry about scams) to just donate straight to the Red Cross. Even if I donated all my EVE assets it would still be worth less real money then what I could afford to donate. --------------------------------------------------

Right... well, that's alright then.
Seriously, this is against the EULA which is absolute and without exception really (any CCP employee or ISD member will tell you that). If you want to give something, then try your local Red Cross or Oxfam branch. It'll be very much appreciated I'm sure.

It's a bit idiotic, although it really is the sentiments that count in this instance. Much better to donate to a charity.

Why do players have to collect? CCP could also initiate that by having a collect or so and auctionating that amount where they give the earned (real) money from that auction to a charity afterwards. Still, spending the local charity is way more efficient and needs less effort.

First when I read the topic I thought about donating ISK to the eve players that have lost someone, but soon realized that wouldn't be the case :)
The idea is sweet, but in practic it's not worth it. I've donated real money, and to be honest I couldn't afford giving any of my precious noobie ISK away.
And Karch, that's totally uncalled for. BIG is still a trustworthy corporation and there's no way they would risk it over something like this.
