This was just literally announced. Give a week or two for a Dev interview and perhaps we should get some luck. But then again we are dealing with CCP.

Oh well, there will always (hopefully) be Malkavians, Tszimice and Lasombra, and masses of prettyboy Ventrue and Toreador to troll and gank.

You forgot how brutally powerful a Gangrel or a Brujah or even an Assamite can be:)
When talking about magic I have only thing to say Thaumaturygy (Blood magic)
Thaumaturygy
The Discipline of Thaumaturgy encompasses blood magic and other sorcerous of arts. Thaumaturgy is the unique possession of the Tremere and one of its most jealously guarded secrets. Certain kindred rumors even speak members of the Warlocks' clan. Clan Tremere created this discipline by combining mortal wizardry with power of vampiric vitae. Thought its existence is not widely known by mortal mages and wizards, it is seen as a Thaumaturgy is a versatile and powerful discipline. Like Necromancy, its practice is divided into two parts: path and rituals. Thaumaturgical paths are application of the vampire's knowledge of blood magic, allowing him/her to create effects at her whim. Rituals are more formulaic in nature, most akin to the magical "spells" of bygone nights. Because so many different paths and rituals are available to the arcane Tremere, on never knows what to expect when confronted with a practitioner of this discipline.
I mean Thaumaturygy Auspex and Dominate is a really nice set of disciplines when speaking of the fact that a Tremere within the Camarilla is very powerful both stat wise and socially. Together with the ventruboys and good looking toeradors they are the ones that runs the Camarilla so i am really looking forward to playing any of the Sabbat clans. Specially Assamite antitribue, Lasombra etc.
Specially if it is as politically. I would really like to play any of the socially focused clans. But anyhow I think that CCP is gonna make a great job. One of the things that worries me though is how they are going to make PVP and PVE etc. And what will happen if you get killed....will you get into some kind of torpor? or something.

To be honest I have never watched any of the Twilight movies and I never will. I think it is a violation and a disgrace towards White Wolf's vampire. But of course this is only my humble opinion. But I would hate to even think about a mix of White Wolf's vampire and Twilight the little I know about it is not really good so to speak. I do not wish to know more since the only really true vampire universe in my opinion is White Wolf's.
Well what I am wondering how they are going to make it. In EVE it makes sense but if you die as a vampire you are dead if you are not put into torpor or whatever it is called in english it is a state where you as a vampire will be inmobile for some time. This would indeed be a possibility and I really hope CCP reads this. But I guess they probably allready know all I have said here. ------------- Hailgrains (?) hit, cut in crops! Ohhhh .. I can finally play a Nosferatu and Obfuscate everything around, or perhaps a Tremere for the sheer joy of blood magic/rituals.
Wonder if we could go and Walk the Path of Screams, the True Descent, Infernalism ... <quiver in perverse delight>
Man OWOD is hands down the best GAME SETTING ever, up to this day I still reread occasionally some of the core book of the day. Requiem is just a hollow shell.
Also I dont hate Malkavians, I hate the Setites and Tzimisce. Malkavians have been the most entertaining fun of the ages, and a Nosferatu dressed as a clown alongside a Malkvavian dressed as a Carnie showman introducing me to a group of helpless families was up to this point in my life one of the best roleplaying sessions I ever had. Such a wonderful show. I felt right in this MOVIE . The loss of humanity that night was a burden but worth it ---

That would be awesome, I do not know how they would do it though. I mean hwo do you divide into cities or what?, becuase if the game is going to focus on politis and socialinteraction there probably has to be something like EVE Online's 0.0 regions or something that is worth of conquerig or at least something that players can own personally or something.

Talking about Malkavians, the funniest roleplaying session I have experienced was when two of my friend's played a ****ofrenic Malkavian. The one part of it was more or less a nymphoman while the other were the exact opposite. It was extremely fun becuast this was also applied to alot of other things like decison-making and alike.
I just hope they really will give a huge amount of thought how they are going to make this game so that it won't fail. The actual setting is worth all the golds and diamondsin the world. I really really hope they give Vampire The Masquerade what it deserves. ------------- Hailgrains (?) hit, cut in crops! If one is to die, Another one is born. |

Wow. You are a bright guy, thank you so much for stating the obvious. Got any other tricks up your sleeve that will shock and amaze me?
As for the game itself, I'll just get the cynical grumpiness out of the way and state now that it is *going* to be a theme park. Why you might ask? Look again at the audience that WoD is trying to attract... |

Below is stuff taken from a guy who was at the Q&A event.
Direct MMO Stuff:
- the game has been in development for approximately 3 years. - This has been slowed by keeping up with EVE - Preparing to develop 'Carbon technology' framework for what should provide state-of-the-art character customizations, unlike any seen in any game before, for the MMO. - They are particularly psyched about the customization framework. They claim they have in fact, hired a fashion consultant, to help make the system more realistic and stylish. - Another 1.5 years has been spent preparing the actual gameplay - They have increased their staff by 6 times the previous head count - They've put 629K man-hours into this MMO -- so far.
Regarding Coffee House, Sandbox and Themeparks that we've discussed on the forum, Burgermeister writes; "From what they said, these three spheres should be closely tied and interconnected together, essentially running the economy of blood in the game. "
The four overall themes they intended to have in the game are: - Mystery - Romance - Power - Danger
"For concrete facts, we learned that the game will be ready, by earliest, 2012. The game will be based on Vampire: the Masquerade. Specifically, in the initial release of the game, there will only be vampires as supernatural, playable characters. There will however, be elements from Werewolf, Changling, etc., likely in the form of environmental content, and NPCs."
-One of their criterias for success is to make the game as accessible as possible. Specifically they want to get women involved in the game, as well as casual players. Also, they want to maximize the amount of human interaction that happens in the game.
-They confirmed that the game will not be combat intensive (unless you choose as such). Knowing, influencing the correct people is arguable more important than being the biggest brawler.
-They will not be catering to immaturity in the game, however, they would like to see these types of offenses policed by players, rather than in-game mechanics.
"I personally offered up one of the board's suggestions of Permanent Death as a solution to controlling an otherwise glut of Kindred population within any one area. This was one of the suggestions that got applause from the audience. I also couldn't help but notice two of the content developers smirking -- I think permanent death is a serious possibility in the MMO. A lot of other fans made the same or similar suggestions. This remark also drew out a comment from the panel, suggesting that the game world would consist of one server rather than multiple servers, after someone else suggested that some servers offer this permanent death option while others did not. (His response "Servers? What servers?") " :chinscratch:
-They confirmed that factions and territories will almost certainly be a big part of the game.
-They confirmed that the game will definitely contains gay clubs. This is an excellent angle to cater to the gay and lesbian audience.
-They again, did confirm, that starting off there would only be Vampires, but one of the other developers also confirmed that there would be playable human classes -- although nothing specific. I only can assume he means the likes of ghouls and hunters.
-The game will be fully PvP, i.e. there may be Elysium areas, but nothing like the flagging system, as seen in PvE WoW servers.
"That is everything that I learned from that particular panel. Afterwords, I had some time with one of the developers, and managed to ring a few more details out of him:
He is supposedly working on something called 'story arcs'. He immediately realized he had probably already said too much, so you'll have to use your imagination to determine what that would mean in the game.
He also stated that in regards to the development cycles, some disciplines simply will not be included because they are way too complicate to implement well -- specifically, Temporis."

Vampire was the most deterministic of the White Wolf games by far, your character was pretty much completely defined by those dots on the paper in front of you and you didn't really need to exercise any imagination to roleplay as your personality was essentially fixed by game rules in most cases.
So, basically, that'd make a fine MMO. I'm glad they didn't go with werewolf (non-mechanical and extremely individually variant negotiations with spirits are something a computer would be hard-pressed to reproduce) or, god help us, Mage (the players basically make up the rules as they go along).
What I'd actually play, though, is a Changeling MMO. It would basically be Eve with magical powers and a class of NPCs massively more powerful than the oldest players... everyone in the universe is out to get you, and even if they aren't you're convinced they are. ---

Edited by: Colonel Evans on 29/09/2010 09:38:23 I seriously doubt that emo people will flock to this, it's far beyond that.
WoD was what vampires were before Twilight and various other sources of fail pranced along. And since CCP decided to use oWoD (Masquerade) instead of nWoD (Requiem), it will be even more so, with a Gothic/Punk setting as opposed to traditional vampireness.
I would have said inb4 people think that Twilight***s and emo***s will flock to this, but i'm late by 3 pages. If you're not going to play it, keep your opinion to yourself.
Also, Masquerade >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Requiem. Keep your nWoD **** over there with the rest of the compost.
