I run Vista on the PC that has the SISI client installed (my main PC). My laptop runs Win 7 and Aero Snap was the very first thing I disabled when installing Win7 on that one.

I guess it will do that if you have set it to run at for example 1024x768 and your screen has 1280x1024. My primary screen runs at 1920x1200 and I have set my client to run at the same resolution, but for some reason, it scales itself down a bit vertically, apparently to make room for the task bar. (Edit: on further investigation I see that it's not that task bar the window resizes to make room for, but the title bar on the top frame of the window.... Wich means the new client does not allow the client to launch at a resolution that will let the window extend beyond the bottom of the screen.... The issue is still the same though, that I can't launch the client at the resolution I have set it to run at and wich has worked flawlessly since I started running multiple accounts)
I provide you with 2 (poorly taken) pics to help explain the difference: Pic 1 - TQ on both screens Here I have two TQ clients running in windowed and with window frames removed. The task bar (right screen) is behind the client as long as that is the active window
Pic 2 - SISI on primary screen Here I have launched a SISI client on my primary (right) screen. Since the frame remover doesn't work, you can see the window frame, and also the task bar sits in front of the client, even when it's the active window.
Now personaly I want to have both clients filling the screens perfectly, and not have unwanted elements like the task bar and window frames visible, making the visual aspect less appealing. I suspect the only reason the frame remover no longer manage to handle the sisi client is bechause it's resizing itself. Why the task bar suddenly ends up being persistently situated in front of the client however, is propably due to some other setting for the window manager or something (I'm no programmer, just a passionate gamer).

Nah. It concidentally happened that total window height for me was exactly 1051px (screen width 1050). Any height above that causing window to shrink back down on load. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Please don't take this as an incentive to remove this feature or delay it. Really awesome for me with my 1024xwacom/widescreen setup. :-D Please re-size your signature to the maximum allowed file size of 24000 bytes. Zymurgist |

I have this problem also, I really hope they can get rid of the problem of the taskbar protruding over the client, its tedious and makes it impossible to manage windows that are often miniturised. Its a terrible visual for those who run EVE in windowed mode and I hope something is done to bring the clients native aspects back to be more like the current tranq build.

It's not that easy, it's something about the total resolution. 2560x1024 shrinks, too. --

Well, that was a mistype. The "height" of screen is 1050. Height of client (total height including window frame/borders) was 1051. The width won't change, btw (strange, yes, I know). -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Originally by: Pierced Brosmen um... well... The resize function is somewhat nice, but I'm experiencing some issues with this.
The first thing that caught my attention is the fact that when running eve in windowed mode at max resolution (same resolution as the screen), the window seems to automaticaly resize itself to make room for the task bar, regardless of the resolution you have set it to run at. This is an issue, cause I like eve to cover the taskbar when it's the active window (like the past and current TQ clients does). Ofcourse it is possible to set the task bar to auto hide, but that is not really a solution, as it will pop up again if I move the cursor to the bottom of the screen (where the tabs for minimized in-game windows are).
I normaly run 2 or more eve clients simultaneously, having one on my priamry screen and the others on my secondary (wich is smaller). To make eve look it's best, I use Zeonelle's EVEWindowFrameRemover tool that removes the frames and makes the clients run as if they were in full screen mode (and not just reposition the window to hide the frames off screen, like for example EveHQ does), but now that the client seems to automatically change window size based on "available" screen area, the tool no longer works.
So, as helpfull as the resize function is to some, I hope there will be an option to turn it off, and have the client launch and run in the resolution you have previously set it to run.
The current state of the SISI client, regarding the window resizing, is really an annoyance and it ruins some of the gaming experience
The issue of Eve not displaying over the task bar is not an EVE issue but is actually a win 7/Vista issue. Basically any window that follows the rules on resizing (which the old EVE client (TQ) did not) has this issue. You can do it with IE just resize so the bottom is below the task bar and you will see. In XP there was an option to turn off "Taskbar always on top". In Vista and 7 Microsoft took this away so the taskbar will always be on top of an application that uses the Windows resize function. Why Microsoft took it away I do not know (see this post) probably because they are Microsoft and know all. You can change it in Vista and 7 but there are some drawbacks but I will let you read the post and decide whether you want to implement it or not. The guys at CCP maybe able to find a hack around it but I do doubt it. I hope this helps.

Hm. interesting.
But wouldn't that also mean that if CCP gives us the option to chose wether or not we want to be able to resize the client window, we can have the client over the task bar by simply chosing to disable said feature?.
I'm not asking for CCP to remove the feature, cause there are naturally people who welcome this. But I don't want that to be the only option. Sure it can be the default setting for the client, but it should not force us to have it like that.

This feature looks pretty sweet. However, is there any way that you can lower the 1024x768 cap as the minimum resolution? Currently there is no way to fit more than one client on a single 1080p monitor without overlap, no matter how you resize.

I have windows XP and the taskbar issue also. Its so frustrating beacuse I only play EVE in windowed mode and don't wish to either change that or the auto-hiding taskbar.
I hope that CCP offer the ability to turn this off and that the window returns to normal.

Have you tried using the window relocator in EVEmon? I use it with win 7 and it allows me to play in 'fake fullscreen' with the eve window covering over the taskbar (until I click on the desktop on one of my other monitors). --- 34.4:1 mineral compression |

Have you tried to turn off the "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows" option? This is not autohide. Go here to read up on it.

Yes. EVE is still on top and it sometimes just plays merry hell with the *other* programs I'm running at the time. The whole point of running EVE in windowed mode is to be running a normal computer behind it that I can alt-tab to. I don't want access to the taskbar while in EVE but I do want access to it (and it on top like normal) of every other program that I use normally. I'm not looking to bury the resize idea, just looking for an opt-out for those of us with no use for it who find it really detrimental.

I don't have multiple monitors, I have one small one so the resize feature is just one big headache to me. I havn't tried that feature and I will check it out, hopefully it'll still allow me to dualbox. But this is still just a workaround to an issue that didn't exist before this build and hopefully won't exist in Incurision.

It's written in .NET though, so you can read the source if you want. There's even plugins to create a VS project with the complete source, as well as rewrite the .NET IL code without recompiling with VS.

Is there any chance of us getting proper borderless fullscreen support while the resolution's being monkeyed with? Many other games manage that these days, and I abuse the heck out of it where it's available.

It's gone from the sisi client. This makes me sad, cause it was literally the one thing I was looking forward to in Incursion. Is this off the table, or just a freak thing?

A problem with me is that I am on a 1366x768 resolution screen. I use EveMon on tranquility so that I can play in windowed mode and easily alt-tab around. This new thing screws up EveMon, and on top of that, in Windows 7 the top of the window with the TitleBar and the close and minimize buttons take up space on the screen and the entire bottom of the window is off my monitor. So i can't see time nor any minimized windows in Eve. I have to use fullscreen mode, which screws up alt-tabbing, especially amongst multiple clients. Please fix is so that it supports EveMon or so has its own built-in feature to appear fullscreened when in windowed mode.

i personly run 2 moniters (both differnt sizes and reselutions) but i ussly run 1 windowed client on the bigger of the 2 screens at 1920x1080 and use evemon to make it look maximized, and i can still move my mouse over to the 2nd screen which i ussly keep forums, and websites open on, but when i had windowed mode on when this "feature" was here, it disabled evemon's relcation function, and make it anoying to use windowed mode, because the task bar and a title bar got in the way of the game. if i try and run it on fullscreen, i can't click on anything off the game or it minimizes, and takes a few sec to get back up and its anoying, and could get you killed, because i can't see whats going on while im typing this complaint for example.
it could be a cool feature for some of those odd people with weird screen sizes, but for the rest of us, please ccp add a disable feature or let programs like evemon maximuze the screen like old times.

I agree. I run multiple clients and move windows around a lot, I would much prefer them to be at a fixed resolution at all times.

You can get lower than 1024x768 resolution it's just not supported by the client (some stuff will be behind the edge of your window) - to do that you need to set up custom screen resolution and then switch EVE to it in fullscreen, after you go back to windowed mode you can keep your 'custom' resolution - for example I have used 2 eve clients side by side at 960x1080 (for fullhd monitor) - although TBH I would suggest sitcking with minimum width of 1024 - ie use 1024x1080 resolution on full hd monitor with small overlap between windows.
BTW awesome looking option :)

I myself love this feature. I have 3 monitors (Two at 1280x1024) and a 1680x1050 Widescreen in the middle. expanding a single EVE client to fill all three monitors is a lot of fun.
For those of you that have the task bar "getting in the way", this can be easily adjusted on XP, Vista, or 7. With the latter two, simply right-click on the task bar, select properties, and check the option to "Auto-Hide the Taskbar".
Right now for TQ, I use EVEMon to resize my clients to a borderless window, although since I got my new video card, it's not automatically resizing them anymore (I have to manually resize each window) When Incursion hits, I'm unsure if I'll continue EVEMon for this or not (I have all of my Windows borders set to be really small, so I loose very little space even with a normal maximized screen). --- If you've read something I posted and want to contact me, EVE-Mail me, or contact me via EVE Gate. |

Thats not a solution, its a work-around... and its terrible. It works alright for getting rid of the bar, but the point of playing EVE in windowed mode (as opposed to simply playing in fullscreen) is to have access to the rest of the PC. Alt-tabbing only does so much, when you are out of EVE and into other programs not having the taskbar is tedious and irritating in a million small ways (and several big ones!).
I'm not against the feature and I'm assuming like Incursion Character creation and Incursion PI thats its a WIP and it'll be fixed before release, I have a second monitor (which I mostly watch TV on these days) and will probably use multiple monitors too on occasion - but it needs to work correctly, Autohiding is NOT an effective solution.
