Edited by: Wenoc on 30/09/2010 19:19:46 First off, you've done something to dragging and dropping. It's harder to hit small stuff, like for example the cargo button in space when you loot stuff directly to that. Maybe you've disabled the icon anchoring on the mouse in the upper left corner? Anyway, it's a bad change.
Second, surveying in PI will make the first extractor yellow. Why? It seems something was half-made but didn't make it to the patch, but still half of it got through?
Third, when you select a processor blueprint the list view is new. While it looks nice with the icons and all, but it's much slower to scroll instead so configuring several processors takes much more time (currently reworking a chain including 30+ processors).
Fourth, PI routes seem to be remembered sometimes when reconfiguring a processor. Sometimes not. Previously they never did.
Fifth, PI surveying is now about double as fast as before. Good job. Halfway there. But we didn't ask for them to be faster. We asked for multiple selection == less clicks, not faster ones!
Sixth, you modified PI despite stating you didn't, in the patch notes.

Edited by: Raven Alexandr on 30/09/2010 19:23:54 Way to break login. Gotta hand it to you CCP, you have managed to make EvE less and less desirable with every buggy bad idea you have implemented in Tyrannis. Currently 500 people have been able to log in in the last 10 minutes, so at this rate, with only the people waiting in que (600) it will take an hour to login. Funny, EvE has never needed a login que before, nor does any other MMO, so why start now? FAIL
So now the que is gone, but when you actually log in it crashes the connection and your back to the login screen....

Drag and drop mouse anchor isn't at the top left of the icon, IT IS A TERRIBLE CHANGE and a huge headache when repeatedly moving multiple items across corp hangars.

Yes CCP **** up on Patch Days. Buts not entirely their fault.

Edited by: Blnukem 192 on 30/09/2010 19:41:37 Thanks CCP, you broke the UI even more than it already was.
No more module / fitting sounds (minor, but now I'm forced to double check when I activate a mod...), corp mates are now listed as militia / alliance members, and all of my windows are resetting, moving, and resizing on their own after I used certain tabs, undock, or re-log.
Bravo. EVE is actually unplayable for me, since my windows reset so much.

In space my tabs are completely broken. The overview has remained the same size on the right of the screen but every tab and window stretches (off of it) to the far left and is greyed out. Its like it doesnt realise the extent of the overviews window and continues on. No amount of jiggery pokery is fixing it.

Ok so i was expecting the window stacks and positions to be reset.. As many have said that isnt the end of it.
Windows can be stacked and seem to remember their position, unless they are pinned. Pinned windows seems to ALWAYS revert to some default position as they were at first log in.
Unpinned windows seem to behave OK with the exception of the fleet window which in my case always resizes to twice the height i set it on opening. It does drag back to the size i want so its not a window size restriction...
Obviously i would like to be able to pin my windows at some point so i dont accidentally mess up my stacked windows by dragging one off.
Oh, and we can stack the LP store now, thanks for that at least :)

Some game windows (Overview, fitting, cargohold, assets etc) refuse to stay where u opened them last time and take up their own size, no matter how many times u tell them to. I m a man of order, I d like my game windows to stay put, this is anarchy. Oh yeah, some sounds are gone as well (module activation).
Dampening, stasis, scramble, target painting effect little icon in overview also missing. I sense a DT coming

Dear CCP. I have no polite words to express the disappointment of the most bugged build went from test server to live. You just killed EVE. Entirely. What is this I can't keep just two windows stacked for more than a second?
Testcase? Open cargohold of ship A. Open cargohold of ship B. Stack them together. Make stack pinned. Close stack. Open cargohold of either ship. Do you still think EVE can be playable? -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Excellent job, as always.
Some small glitches - see my post in issues thread - but overall a rather quick deployment and no major problem experienced.
As far as the improvements are concerned, I assume most of the reworked parts are in the background, invisible steps required before more content or functionality is added... But there's one thing very easy to notice, it's the drop from 2-3 seconds per extractor to do a survey in PI, to about 1 second now. Which means that my clicking frenzy at every logon to restart all extractors on all planets is now much faster, and it pleases me a lot :)

My Feedback: Nothing is perfect at the beginning.
Pleased with increased speed with PI functions but a bit disappointed by not seeing some grouping of basic functions. Understand and appreciate the communication regarding large client error, look forward to more info on error once other bugs have been fixed. Didn't like having to fix my channel overlays but I believe you communicated beforehand that this issue might arise after patch. So, managed my expectation there and we are fine assuming it doesn't become a persistent issue.
Appreciate the fact that you are already aware of and working to fix the other bugs that have been mentioned. I would expect those to be fixed over the next day or so as a reasonable expectation.
I didn't experience any login problems but I waited until about 1900 EVE time to logon.
For me, things have went well with only a couple of minor issues. I can understand folks getting upset by logon issues and really upset with total crash of the client. My perception is this went from a minor patch to quite a bit more with the error that emerged. I suppose this could explain why folks are so upset or maybe it's just a few who post valuable feeback and info, whereas the majority just want to whine and complain.
Cheers!

== snip == Ship module activation/deactivation button sounds are broken.
There's still some minor click noise whenever you "enter the button area" with your mouse pointer... but "pressing the button" (clicking on it) is a silent action now, both for activation and deactivation of the respective module.
If you click the HUD scanner view button (between inventory and autopilot button), a "failure" sound is getting played when opening up the scanner window. The sound getting played is the one usually getting played whenever entering too long strings into text fields (e.g.: give money->enter "99999999999999"->press TAB).
I had this confimed by somebody using Windows client, so it's 1.1 and not Mac specific. == snip ==

Edited by: Kathleen Mercury on 30/09/2010 22:40:09 Hi there everyone!
I readed the feedbacks by others and i admit theres a few problems with the windows it wont remember for the positions ie when u open a cargo container and place it somewhere it will remember for its position unless you open a new cargo container cuz the new one's window will be at around center "default position". what i noticed is... the ui seems faster. much faster. i dont have that strong comp and i wont list my config, eve runs smooth. But it definitely works faster at everywhere. However i only hauling and mining, but its awesome. even the docking/undocking procedure is much faster for me. I'm happy with the new patch. Looking forward for the fixes. Keep up the good work. I can understand how others ****ed off by those annoying bugs. But as a casual gamer i dont have any problems. Fly safe&thanks ccp.
Edit.: I forgot to mention im using pc win 7 ultimate 32 bit version and i deleted all eve data, cache+everything else.

Usually if you resize it the next one will open to the resized size you made the previous. It does not do this anymore. Also when you open multiple wrecks it usually stacks them, but now it cascades them and opens separate windows instead of adding a tab to previous one.
I'll try and get a screen shot for you.

Not really as much. But well, a bit. However, the "disable window animation" option would improve it even more. Minimizing animation kills whole UI for a second.

In all seriousness, this one and deployment has been worst updates ever. Eve is just getting more and more unplayable. Tons of stealth nerfs, bugs, broken features are added all the time, why dont you for once focus on fixxing ALL the old stuff before adding new and broken stuff. I guess CCP forgot the golden rule: if it ain't broken, don't fix it
Seriously though, I'd been really surprised if there wasn't any bugs after you rewrite some parts of the code. Although the bugs are annoying, hopefully they'll be fixed in a few days. I don't have much time to play this weekend anyway so they don't bother that much. If the bugs still exist next week, well that's another thing
Hopefully this trouble with UI is worth it in the long run...

I will have to disagree respectfully. You can still give feedback such as:
"If I was not affected by this mess, I would be having the time of my life laughing at the people who are."
or
"If you intend to fix and improve the UI any further, wouldn't it be easier to simply delete it entirely?"
On a more serious note: I do feel bad for all the Devs spending their time working on this patch, just to have it turn out this way. But if you do not fix problems that already persisted on SiSi, and then still deploy the patch to Tranquility.. not sure what you expect to happen, really.

Feedback:
This patch is an utter mess. You've broken so much UI functionality, I don't even know where to begin. The persistence of window sizes and stacking has always been patchy at best, now it's completely broken.
The new appending of spaces and zeros to values in dialogue boxes is baffling. Previously functioning sounds are now nonexistent, or incorrect.
I'm astounded that you would release such a clearly faulty patch. At what point did you determine that this was acceptable for release?

UI is -slower( 2 seconds for the fitting window to show up? RLY?) -buggy (windows dont remember whats going on, clicking something on one stacked window makes it go to the background) -lacks sounds (probly some lookup table for sound effects got shifted? as more than one sound is wrong)

CCP for once I am impressed. I run 10 planets across 2 chars producing POS Fuels. Previously the time taken to restart all the extractors every day across all 10 planets was a good 20-30 minutes a day of just clicking, clicking, clicking, clicking, clicking, clicking..... you get the picture.
The survey cycle time of extractors is now taking about 1/3rd to 1/2 (at the most) time to cycle before you can select your extractor cycle, which already has cut in half the time it takes me to restart all the extractors across all 190 planets.
Still looking forward to the extractor control unit in Incursion, but well down for pushing this patch out in the meantime, the difference in the time taken is defintely appreciated and adds up a lot over the days.

I am running a few more planets than that, and am pleased that it takes less time to cycle, but I am curious as to why it reset all my planets(well, most of them) to the same time? I wouldn't really mind, except for I'm running quite a few planets, and with advanced CC's that's like... 15 extractors per planet. I had them cycled(for the most part) so about a third of them expired every day, some in the morning, most in at night. Now, with them all reset to one of two common times... well... that's gonna be quite a PITA to do and get the cycles back in place. I will admit to being not the most diligent in doing them, so sometimes I mess them up myself, but this was not one of those cases. Contrarily, I'd just got most of them resorted... and now their all uniform again :(.
I can haz cookie for Government interference in my facility production? :(

Broken stuff and changed / undocumented items that do not quite make sense:
1) Fleet finder window always resizes to a default(?) size when re-opened. User changes to the window size are not retained.
2) Rat loot window does not remember user sizing or location.
3) Linked character names, items and system names are now underlined creating a less visually friendly text chat. Suggestion: remove that damn underlining.
4) ISK value column alignment and width change in the wallet (and market?).
Also and as others have reported, the 'align to bookmark' and improved PI performance elements are most welcome. Why not include those positive changes in the patch notes? The PI language in the patch notes doesn't even come close to describing the performance gain / time saved.
What other changes to the client and server were made that remain publicly undocumented by CCP?
I find it odd that CCP doesn't include marketable(even if only for good vibes in the community) and positive 'stuff' in their patch notes.
Oh, and as far as using the Test Server for a pre-release code review and bug creation resource, that server is a very poor medium for user acceptance testing. Not only is the back-end hardware not identical or an approximate of the live environment, but the code may contain stuff never intended to go onto the live server. Big waste of time testing against both a code base and an environment that is not representative of what is intended to be made public.

Here's my general feedback why not fix the bugs reported before making a patch or if a 'patch' is needed for 'stealth' things they won't ever tell us or admit to do those and don't jam more half baked 'defectively designed' updates on us.
If you can't do something right hold off, this is a 'patch' it isn't some stupid expansion CCP hyped up that 'has' to be delivered wait until it is 'right' then drop it on us instead of continuing the 'fix it later' BS that we get all the time.
PS: I love how so many 'bugs' are known to CCP yet they do nothing to fix them before pushing patches/expansions on us then ask us to submit more bug reports as if the ones they got weren't good enough. I might as well start writing letters about them then burning them in my yard, I think it would accomplish the same thing which is to make the writers feel 'better'.

I like the reduced survey delay and the faster window animations for PI. The whole thing feels much snappier now, and I can do my 4 planets in around 5 minutes instead of closer to 10 minutes like it was previously. Thumbs up!
I also noticed that the first extractor you give new orders to on each planet receives a yellow status color in its pin. May I request that you add this to ALL extractors that receive new orders? It would save me the time I spend double-checking that all extractors are running after I press submit.

2 Threads are a bit confusing. What's "general feedback"?
Here's some feedback for you: 1. test stuff before you release them. 2. Why make unecissary changes that no one asked for on stuff that no one had an issue with. ie: Dragging around icons in order to stack guns or fit modules to ships is now a nightmare. The old way worked perfectly fine and no one had an issue with it. Try to fix the overload buttons instead next time you decide to "improve" the UI.

My feedback is like this, for me the patch worked okay I didn't have any install issue and I could log on when I needed to this morning. However its shown some pretty big QA issues for quite a few people, you have to question the release process.
The frustration, for me and a lot of other players is that the content in the patch doesn't really address many issues that a lot of eve players care about, doesn't really advertise any changes or features of note, and clearly sucked up tonnes of development effort and QA time for something that still caused a massively extended downtime and was still somewhat broken on deliver.
I'm getting frustrated that the entire development focus seems to be away from anything that affects me, I'm playing the game for small to medium scale pvp. There's a lot of issues that seem very easy to address that never get looked at such as: - random heat errors, burning out full racks of modules based on existing damage to 1 module in the rack (e.g. you can have a shield extender that is damaged, overload your warp scram for 1 cycle and all of your med slots burn out). - Boosters frequently not activating unless consumed before initiating combat and really never activating when they affect a stat on an existing module that is active. - God mode ECM drones which are neither doing proper sensor strength checks or realy working in any kind of a balanced way at the moment. There is no way that a flight of hornet ec-300 should jam a recon ship on first cycle or simply give the player of recalling and re-attacking if the first cycle fails essentially turning every ship that has a drone bay into a full fledged jamming shi - tech 3 gang boosting sihps that can be neither probed, locked down in a bubble or targetted before cloaking essentially providing another god mode imbalance.

I think your company's over-inflated opinion of itself is inversely related to the quality of the code you put out.
Given that some of the bugs are really glaring (Corp mates green symbols not showing, drag and drop problems, module activation problems, numerous UI bugs, lag seems worse again), I honestly fail to see how you could have missed these before.
This patch is simply terrible. I think I'm gonna cancel my sub before the next major patch and wait until you've fixed the bugs before resubbing again, because I'm starting to see that the only thing that works with you, CCP, is massive player protests. It seems that petitions fall on deaf ears, bug reports go unheeded, but a good dollop of bad PR gets you off your backsides as if your lives depended upon it (which, of course, as a company it does).

Good day capsuleers!
I'm a new player. I played world of wa.....t for years. My wife told me to try eve out. it seems cool &stuff but after reading these posts... im not sure if it worth the time to play this and for pay this. i think its better for me if i "step back". "dont leave the know way for unknown". it's seems perfectly true in this case. wish you luck and patience waiting for the bugs to be fixed, stuff to be improved. farewell!

Well.............it's very difficult to remain upbeat and positive, after this terrible failure, AKA Tyrannis 1.1. I normally try to avoid whining and trolling.................but..........WTF were you THINKING? This patch breaks most of the few remaining aspects of the game that were, while archaic, at least playable. Positives: we can now align to bookmarks, and surveying a planet now takes half the time. That's it. Entirely. Negatives? The time I just saved surveying is now offset by more than more than double if any of the following occur: I jump through a stargate. Someone joins fleet. I log in or out. I try to buy something. I try to sell something. I try to loot something. I try to salvage something. I open anything. Also, "Eve has sound?" is no longer a question, it's an indictment. You extended DT astronomically to deliver this............in Oz we lost the whole night. I'm paid up til January, so there will be no OMGWTFBBQIQUITSHOVEMYSTUFFYOUKNOWWHERE!, but....................I'm pretty disappointed in you, CCP. And I'm not alone. I imagine you're pretty disappointed in yourselves, so I'll try not to make it much worse. Pick yourselves up, admit it was a total bork, and lets get this crap fixed. Please.

I have an honest question, and so will stick my toe in the water and hope the sharks don't eat my leg. I am a hobbyist programmer, which means that I write simple programs for my own use and am certainly not an expert in any language. The UI errors in the current patch have me baffled; how can this not have been tested and fixed prior to release? Surely there is some method by which the UI of a program can be properly tested without it being launched into a live environment.
Using one bug as an example, where the send money box of the wallet does not fully highlight the default entry of 0.10, I will illustrate my confusion.
I use Visual Basic (yes, I know only grandmothers use that ... want to see pics of my grandson?) and it takes two lines of code for me to fill a text box with 0.10 and then cause the entire text to be highlighted:
txtSendISK.text = "0.10" txtSendISK.focus
I will assume that Python requires a more complex series of instructions to fill and focus a text box but ... since the apparent change to this particular code involved changing the default text from 0.1 to 0.10, how could a professional programmer miss changing the code to highlight the entire text box? The two instructions can't be more than four or five lines apart. And how could the mistake not be found upon testing?
I'm not slamming the programmers at CCP, but I really do wonder. This sort of elementary programming shouldn't be causing problems in a major software program. Is corporate development so different that someone can change an "A" to an "I" and bork an entire routine with no follow-up testing? Are programmers not allowed to test their code before sending it off to their team manager, who in turn does no testing before sending it up the line?
If this is the case (and considering the problems I've seen in other MMOs I've played I have to wonder) then the MMO genre as a whole isn't as advanced as some would like to believe. I have a long winded theory which I won't expound, but if someone who actually works as a professional programmer could enlighten me on why we see these horrible errors I would be most appreciative.

How many issues are we dealing with, now?
- chat windows resetting their position every login
- other windows not retaining position/sizing information
- alliance members appearing dark blue instead of green
- decimal point shenanigans for Give Money/market prices
- various missing module/fitting sound effects
- random missing icons on the Overview
Those are just what I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure there are many more than that.
How could you not catch these items during testing? Does no one use chat or belong to an alliance on Singularity? Is "EVE has no sound" so prevalent that not a single tester noticed anything? Did any CCP employee(s) comb through the UI and do any testing to ensure there weren't a bunch of bugs still to be worked out?
Why did you go live with this? We get the wonderful Align to Bookmark and a ton of bugs to go along with it. It's like one step forward, ten steps back.
Honestly, I think the entire UI should be revamped from scratch at some point. Hopefully before 2020.

Really there is no excuse for a patch being released in this state. It is like launching a website and the navigation menu doesn't work. With this kind of QA it is no wonder it takes forever for even small thing to get fixed; the source code must be like reading used toilet paper.

One day you will run out of nubs to buy plex to sell for cash beause they dont relase how much isk can be made EASILY in 0.0 then they wouldnt buy plex anymore because they wouldnt need too but they would have to depend on the steady influx of NUBILES to EVE that dont have a clue about how much isk can be made in nullsec and they want to buy plex to sell for isk cause they think they are poor.
Cycle will continue to repeat itself until there are no nubiles coming into eve that need isk and buy plex.

Either they used monkeys do the testing (read: it wasn't or they don't have testers anymore) or the QA is really this bad / incompetent / uninterested / don't care / no serious levels of testing. Delete as appropriate.
Poster above states they do actually have a duplicate environment to test pre-release. This makes it even more bad quality.
You know, maybe some people in CCP need to take a step back and ask themselves why they have a system which needs to go production live to find some quite big problems and bugs. Database problems recently for example. Don't you guys find this unprofessional at least?

Random Post-Patch Issues
* Random lag. Stutters. * Resisized columns on overview, market, directional scanner. * Moving items in station no longer produces a confirmational sound when the item is dropped. Lag here as well. * Fitting tool -- items placed into the slot must now be exactly centered rather than them dropping where the cursor suggests. These too lack audio feedback. Lag here as well. * Color coding on overview changed.

Ganked leaving a station before the graphics even load for space. Now that's a new one. Left the station 3 slow slow slow scroll bars of graphics loading. pew pew pew. Ship in armor when graphics finally load and pop, dead. Go ahead say its the connection or the machine...
Down Speed: 14.04 MB/second Up Speed: 5.38 MB/second
Hardare: Dual Quad Core 960 @ 3.20Ghz overclocked to 3.84GHz 6GB RAM 2GB ATI Video Card (Running Latest Driver) Windows 7 (64-bit)
No question the patch sucks. Did I mention seeing double entries in the Overview as well as planet, stations and jump gates 4 systems away... Woot! Fail!

It is on one hand great to see that localization has got an overhaul. On the other hand, I am costumed to the official (English) name of the skill groups, especially in the training queue and the Skill tab in the char overview. In the training queue I want to have international names of the skill groups, as many oog tools (EVEmon) are kept in English.
Is there any smart way to let the player decide where in the game which language is used?
Thanks in advance

Even though I didn't get ganked I can confirm wondering about what felt like "extreme" time required for undocking... it took about 30 seconds to get a space view after initiating "leave station" command.
I tried to reproduce it but it felt like only happening the first time I left that station -- be it due to having to download textures / cache filling or whatever. I'm using a SSD locally so disk i/o shouldn't have caused that much of a delay.

Excellent job of having crunched down some serious Mac issues:
a) the client runs smooth as never before. c) it is possible to work while having the game in background mode. b) some crashes are gone.
Two thumbs down for introducing new obvious bugs.
I would really be interested in reading a dev blog on how the obvious errors present managed to get past QA.
Any chance your internal documentation of changes is sloppy and QA doesn't know what to test?

Best part of this particular bug is that it only affects *2* of my 8 characters and it also will randomly do it when jumping through gates--VERY fun in 0.0 when you jump into an enemy gatecamp and your screen is suddenly covered in 8-10+ unstacked chat windows (corp, alliance, fleet, intel channel(s) and private channel(s)))

How many new players does eve get everyday? Probably over 100. How many do you think are going to keep playing when their only experience in EVE is a broken interface that won't save window positions or size.
Pathetic.
Maybe you shouldn't be developing 2 other games if you can't even provide a decent patch to the one that's made your company what it is today, and is your only source of income since it's your only released game. You loose your eve players you loose everything.
If you can't handle a small patch for EVE, then it's time to scratch DUST and WOD.

Load the skill into the skill queue to check. I have a number of partially trained skills that show no progress bar, but if I load them in to train them, close and open the skill planner, the progress bar appears.

Yes, we did. All of the cosmic signatures, except the static WH,are gone. This includes the sites that just spawned in the past week, one being a site that just spawned two days before the patch. We have seen old sites go and new ones appear over the past three weeks. To go from 12 signature sites to zero in one DT is a bit much.

Many sounds don't play anymore. Like when dragging a ship to a hangar in order to switch to it, or enabling armor hardeners.
"Floating Cargo" windows don't auto-stack anymore. Each and every one is treated as its own individual window. That is extremely annoying when you're trying to grab dropped cargo from a mission. Each one opens in a window that shows only 1x2 number of items dropped.

CCP devs or CEO, are you sniffing Coke during worktime (and after worktime) alot?
Rollback of tyrannis 1.1 seems to be the ONLY logical option. ROLLBACK the darn thing, and in future try to be more carefull, as in test updates more carefully, before you go live with a new patch.
The only thing you do now is: - you waste your time, but also the time of your consumers aka the players. - you hurt your name by messing up so much with all those unwanted patches, downtimes, introducing of so many new bugs before you fixed the old ones.
As im CEO of my company, its just a joke how you deal with things at CCP. Its a big shame that you run things like a 8 year old would do it.
Current strategy: Release patch-> ooh it contains bugs -> try to fix those bugs -> go live with the new patch -> oh no, more bugs and the original bugs are not fixed yet -> more downtimes -> many unhappy customers.
Working strategy: List all current bugs -> analyze them -> fix them -> apply the resulting patches in a test environment -> test EXTINSEVELY Tests work ok and no new bugs introduced? -> go live with the patch on tranquility, otherwise, keep fixing!

Here's my feedback.
You don't do enough testing. This is the absolute number one thing wrong with your entire company and its development style. I don't know the amount of hours you put into just testing your game, but I don't need that piece of information to come to this conclusion. However much testing you're doing, you aren't doing nearly enough. Devoting sufficient resources to testing would prevent most of your current problems from ever happening. Your interim patches like this 1.1 could fix more problems than they cause. Your major content releases could be actual, fully-realized expansions to the EVE universe and let players have even more fun with the game, actually adding value to it. We wouldn't have this warehouse full of half-finished projects, gameplay dead-ends and broken promises. It wouldn't be something you'd need to fix; the issues would simply not exist (the 0.0 lag is a different story).
I know your code base is huge and probably very bloated after all these years, and that changing the smallest of features can be a huge undertaking. This is now a big game, and you don't get to just shrug your shoulders and pretend to be cute little indie developers anymore. If you want the game to continue to prosper you may need to actually devote sufficient resources to keeping it playable. As it is, I have no confidence that you are capable of actually improving the game in your current state. I fully expect the optional patch to introduce at least one additional crippling bug, keeping you at a net loss of performance and playability for this patch.
I find the idea that not only are you working on two new games, but that one of them is supposed to be a console game that interfaces with a PC MMO, utterly absurd. If you don't make massive, and I mean massive changes to your development and testing processes, your new ventures are going to fail spectacularly. I hope you realize that soon, because I don't want this game to be collateral damage.

Edited by: Whitehound on 02/10/2010 10:09:43 Hello,
I would not call it an issue as it can also be seen as a new feature. Windows now apparently raise themselves more often into the front whenever there is a change occuring in them. This also happens when windows are being stacked together, which then kind of reshuffles the stack.
For example, completing a mission causes several windows to raise themselves into the front: the Assets-window for when a mission item was taken out of the hangar, the Journal for completing the mission and for getting LPs, and the People&Places window for the change in mission bookmarks. They all raise themselves into the front, while only one can be on top, making it a bit of a mess (in this case).
It would be helpful if one could have an option in the settings to turn of this automatic behaviour off so that one can decide for oneself in which order windows appear on the screen and without getting them reordered. --

Edited by: Reddx Panther on 02/10/2010 11:57:15 Edited by: Reddx Panther on 02/10/2010 11:56:28 Well I daresay you guys need to be more thorough about release quality. It took me less than 15 mins to find out about the following issues and I am not a professional tester that has access to dev details about what has been done.
- Overview shows a lot duplicates and phantom items since patch - Open windows grab focus and maximize at odd times (e.g. char sheet pops up and maximizes when i turn on sensor booster, wtf??) - Fleet chat is broken as text/member list is gone after minimizing/maximizing and needs scrolling in both chat and member list to recover - Change on drag and drop anchor on icons is a very unwished for feature and makes handling stuff even more fiddly
I'd love to see this fixed in todays patch, but from what i can see the overview code must be a true hackers nightmare and very resistant to improvements.

I started EVE a year ago with Apokrypha. Since then, the stability and usability of the frontend/UI of EVE has constantly deteriorated.
This patch is just a highlight of a series of failures with regard to the improvement of the UI. It started with Dominion where e.g. the Drone-Window does reset each time the drones are deployed the first time when undocked and in space. This "feature" prevents that the status of the expansion bar for the drones is not remembered. This is only a example with a minor effect. But it shows the direction in which the game was developed.
Instead of making the gameplay more fluent and convenient you have proven with this patch that the opposite is the case.
Perhaps you should consider that the user sees only the UI and nothing else. It seems to me that you forgot the importance of the UI.
There are plenty of improvements possible. E.g. the warning window when an item is disassembled serves absolutely no purpose to me (when rigs are affected a second warning window appears). Why is there not a setting where this warning can be disabled? Same applies to the new introduced warnings when a market order is put in which is above or below a certain average price. As this setting might be valuable to new users, the more experienced are annoyed by the fact, that EVERYTIME a market order is changed (and even by 0.01) this warning pops up. Do you think your users are keen on klicking away useless warnings??? Why isn't there an option to disable this warning?
A field for improvement would also be some of the waiting periods in EVE. Why is it that one has to wait for 30 seconds when changing a ship in the hangar?? This period could in my view easily reduced to a more appropriate value.
Next improvement would be to make it possible to view fittings of all ships in the hangar, not only the ships which is active. VIEW! ONLY VIEW!
There are plenty of further improvements which could be done to the UI. In my view the improvement of the UI is much more important than the introduction of new features like planetary interaction (which is also a field of massive bugs).
You may understand my disappointment on the development of EVE in general (of which this patch is of course a new level of failure).

I noticed there's a new filter in the LP store, if it was already there, my bad. Here's my feedback anyway on that ridiculous feature.
Buying stuff in big quantities in the LP store is grueling, you click accept, the window refresh and you lose focus on the item you want to buy again. With the filter you can manage to display only the item you want to buy so you don't have to scroll each time anymore. That's the only thing that this overcomplicated filter achieves; getting rid of the scrolling. The dumb thing about it is that you still have to click 50 times on accept if you want 50 batch of ammo.
Why the hell can't you make the LP Store like a real store ? You add a quantities column, you add 2 more columns: LP Total and ISK Total for each row. Big total at the bottom and checkout button. 1 simple click to buy everything you need ! Numbers display as red if you can't proceed, displays as green if everything is fine, you need only 2 simple filters: affordable only and show all. You don't need more filters because we will scroll down the list only 1 time to add quantities...
Your improvement is ridiculous.

Thursday patch broke a lot of things for me, from sounds to chats, from windows stacking / resetting to overview symbols. From loot windows always appearing at the center of the screen to "show info" windows also appearing everywhere but where I move them. From missing UI modules sounds to market edit boxes.
Today's patch fixed the following:

I posted in the trolling thread, thought i would do the same here.
Fixed
* Corpies now correct colours
* Fleet window now behaves in regard to its size
Still unfixed
* Window pinning prevents window stacking from working.
* Skill queue window goes to back of stack when apply is pressed.
* Certain stacks will randomly switch between tabs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHwn2NfzUko
* Windows still fail to open in correct place pinned or otherwise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBwaVFev72k
* Windows still sometimes disappear for no obvious reason, only to reappear for no obvious reason.
* Module activation sounds
* New glitch where mouse gets stuck to top of screen when trying to select tabs at top of screen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3y5LtNtHr4
Im sure there are others not relating to UI, but if you could fix those or give us an idea when they will be fixed, i would be very relieved.

I've mentioned some bugs in the issues thread. Now for some feedback.
Why do you bother with a QA team?
Most of the bugs being reported are so obvious that you just have to open the client to see them. We aren't talking subtle obscure bugs here. Windows move around randomly and won't stay where you put them, window focus has a mind of its own, drag and drop is just awful, almost any involvement with entering money amounts is broken.
All of these faults have been noticed within 5 minutes of login in by the players... they really *are* that obvious! Yet your QA team apparently thought this build was good to go!!!
tl;dr: Sack QA dept, Test before release.

It's actually window locking that does this. If you turn off "Lock Windows When Pinned" in the General Options tab then they'll stay stacked. Of course that means your windows are no longer locked and can be accidentally moved/resized/etc.

Edited by: JC Anderson on 04/10/2010 04:29:18 I discovered something new in relation to the LP store bug since the last patch. I thought the vid might actually help CCP in figuring the problem out. The link is at the bottom of this post after my description of what I discovered.
In the video note that for the Navy Caracal it says the required items are 1 x Heavy Missile launcher I
And the Navy Raven's required items are listed as 1 x 200mm Railgun I.
I bring up the market window, while keeping the LP store window open and purchase "ANYTHING". It doesn't matter what item you buy as it doesn't change the end result.
As soon as you buy "ANYTHING" you can see that the required items section in the LP store suddenly corrects itself.
Note that the problem returns once you close the LP store window and open it again.

In my ~9 years of playing MMOs I am hard pressed to remember such a small* patch fscking so many things up.

Yes, it's quite worrysome.
The only times we had such issues with patches in my company was when some disgruntled employees were deliberately sabotaging our products.
So, CCP are delivering self sabotage grade patches, I can't understand why.
They were not even "forced" to release these patches with a deadline, they could have kept it on hold till it was actually ready. As of now, instead, it takes 2-3 minutes of playing the game to discover so many bugs that it's IMPOSSIBLE that QA ever checked it. Heck, it's impossible that even who wrote this code would not notice the bugs, they are just eye popping the moment you enter in game.

Is there any way I can roll back the optional patch? Duplicates from the 1.1 patch were annoying but refreshing took care of that.
The optional patch introduced some crazy stuff with stacked chat windows. I went to resize local and the chat windows took over half my screen. The only way to get them back to rights was undocking all of the stacks and redocking them. Trouble is everything was grayed out and darn near impossible to see the tabs.

Modules not lighting, guns not going off. Double click approach not working, control click only taking the FIRST click and after that you have to go do something else. So if you get hit with ECM you have cannot control click more than once, which means kiss your ship goodbye.
The entire interface has totally failed. Roll it back and try again!

This patch pair has fixed most of the annoying problems for without introducing any big new ones, at for me. I no longer get crashes on gate jumps, and when I quit the game it no longer hangs the computer. Its wonderful to have EVE working again.
Windows: I never pin windows, so I do not get that issue. The only new issue is wreck windows always open screen center, not at the location I moved the last wreck window to.
My modules light, my guns fire, double click navigation works, control clicking multiple targets works.
I Like this patch, and surely do not want a rollback. But for those who pin windows, CCP please fix that bug.

oct 5th As im very critical of things when they go wrong in this game im also willing to praise ccp when they go right. Pi when starting pi the extractors correctly are marked in yellow to id the ones you have started and the ones you still have to start remain neutral till started. The issue of exporting processed goods from the launch pad no longer gives you an error message saying you have nothing to export. It now correctly exports the processed goods to the launch pad.
As in all things a lil better communications would have gone a long way, in the first two failed patching attempts.

How come those bugs weren't investigated when they were reported on the test server?
/me looks at question that hasn't been answered yet while 2 'optional' patches have been released...
Make that three patches.
--Submit your bug reports via mental telepathy this will streamline CCP ignoring them.-- |

Agreed,
we should not be forced to be their beta testers.
CCP, HONESTLY, just use the OLD code base, give us ONLY the working align to bookmark, and drop the rest.
Please drop the 50+ regressions we have seen with the new 'code base', and just use the old system+align to bookmark UNTIL SISI has it figured out ok?
Prime Beta testing eve since 2002Ö

If CCP want to know how deep they fell into the hole, they only need to look at PLEX price dynamics. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Is there some dedicated thread aimed towards or informing about patch #4 ?
http://www.eveonline.com/patches/optional/?from=188432&to=190430 reads:
== snip == The first THREE Tyrannis 1.1 optional patches have been removed from the server and all fixes are now included in this THIRD patch. == snip ==

Wow, 7 whole pages of feedback and CCP hasn't replied to ANY of it except a couple of people in the first page. I suggest everyone start posting their "feedback" in the "issues" topic where CCP is "slightly" paying more attention. CCP, if you are actually reading this: WAKE UP!!!
Seriously, just do ALL of your customers a favor and ROLLBACK this mockery of an update (1.1 in its entirety), hire an INTERNAL (no outsourcing crap) Quality Assurance department, and at this point of 4 optional patches which STILL have not fixed all the damage caused by 1.1, PROVIDE COMPENSATION! I will NOT renew my membership (and I suspect MANY others won't either) until ALL the 1.1 issues are CONFIRMED FIXED, someone at CCP APOLOGIZES, and accounts that were active when 1.1 was deployed receive some time of SIGNIFICANT compensation. You're lucky you're not based in the United States, otherwise you'd be getting sued right now.
