Hey CCP,
Your PLEX for Pakistan program ends today. Maybe add a news item as a reminder to people who didn't get their donations in yet?
Speaking of donations, weren't you supposed to accept PLEX contracts at least every 24 hours? My 3-day contract just expired, unclaimed.
My suggestion is that you extend the donation drive through the coming weekend and add some publicity to it. That may save your face for this time.
Sincerely, Barbicane |

There is a news item on the issue.
CCP didn't want your PLEXs anyway.
The donation drive has been going on for a long time, so I don't see the purpose of an extension. People either already donated or they didn't and aren't likely to.

Interesting, the news item wasn't there when I decided to start this thread.
And there has been very poor publicity for the donation drive. I'm sure they could do better. I will contract my PLEXs again if they extend the drive. Don't have time now.

Yes. It was, but you were probably too busy trying to sniff your own farts (why else was your nose so high in the air?) to see it.

F*** Pakistan.
If you start a JDAM for Pakistan, I'd be happy to donate.
Add up all the taxes I've paid since '01, and I've certainly bought some Ratheon products for good ol' Uncle Sam.
Again - F*** Pakistan.

This makes me sad
Instead of posting ignorant hateful posts about killing thousands of innocent men, women and children suffering in Pakistan, could you please just JDAM yourself?
I know this is the internet, and we are all big tough guys behind our computer screens, but really? Is this what it has come to?
I am not donating either, but that's just because I'm having doubts the money will actually go to the right people.

Edited by: NewGit on 07/10/2010 03:34:08 I spend most of the year (in fact, most of the last 7 years) working in a place not far from the Pakistan border. Where I am now, we have been subject to rocket attacks on a (very) frequent basis (409 attacks in 2009 alone). Where are those rockets coming from ? Pakistan. Where are the people firing those rockets being trained ? Pakistan. Where are they getting the materials and training to make the IEDs ? Pakistan. Where are they getting support and safe havens ? Pakistan.
After the major earthquake a few years ago, billions in money and aid flowed into Pakistan, and had pretty much no effect on the population, or their outlook towards the west. Their government can barely control a small portion of the country, while the rest is pretty much like 0.0 space is in EVE. Replace "Alliance" with "Religious Leader(s)" and "Corporation" with "Tribal Elders" and "Pirates/Gankers" with "Taliban/Al Qaeda" and you have basically 2/3's of Pakistan covered (minus the spaceships of course). The other third is more like low sec.
Of course, they have being doing quite well at extracting aid from the west. Just have to mention that "without more money and military aid, there's a risk our nuclear arsenal could fall into terrorist hands" and the money flows. Just mention that "they are our partner in the war on terror" and the money flows.
But, where does all that money flow to ? I can pretty much guarantee that very little of it goes to the people that need it the most, and it never will.
Off to enjoy another wonderful day in a place that is, if anything, even worse than Pakistan.

Actions have consequences. Shouldn't have created the Taliban if you didn't want to deal with them. Now you have the pleasure of dealing with your own stupidity.
Welcome to the real world, where killing civilians, imperialism and the creation of a fanatical army to fight a proxy war comes to strike you for yet another victorious defeat.

While NewGit's post may not be convienient to your own worldview, but it is civil and they highlight the widely held concern that any money donated may very likely not go where it is needed. It may even be used to inflict harm upon people trying to help victims of the disaster and even the victims themselves.
Derp!

And how is the political situation in pakistan any of CCPs problem. They saw a crisis, saw a way they could try to help and carried out that way using the same methods they used on plex for haiti. Anythign else is just pointless pixel*****ing which has no place in the discussion.

It is worth pointing out that this isn't the first time that floods have happened.
It is also worth pointing out that hundreds of millions of dollars were gifted last time, both for immediate aid and for future flood defences.
What happened to the flood defences? You may well ask. Flood defences around govt (military really) buildings/areas were certainly done. The rest? Well you can see for yourselves.
Personally I won't participate in this in any way other than aid packages - where I live (Leicester) has sent a lot of tents, blankets, practical stuff. Why? Well Leicester is the first city in the UK that has a majority non-white, non-christian population. Everyone who knows the area KNOWS not to send money as it'll disappear into a thousand corrupt pockets. Hell even the people who have only been in the UK a few years (from Pakistan) say the same!
Do NOT contribute money directly to Pakistan or to UNICEF (its the same thing in this instance). If you want to do something then find a muslim charity who are buying aid to send, not money.
Really. Don't send money.
