Ok... wasn't sure whether to post this in Out of Pod or here... but it is related to EvE...so here it is placed.
This weekend, what with my wife going to visit her parents soon (yay?) I decided I'd try out EvE on our 50" Plasma using HDMI at 1920x1080 res, in preparation of moving my gaming to the living room.
Dear lord... even my wife said it look so amazingly real and just... wow.
It made spinning my ships in station a joy to behold... my Tengu's gun-metal look just looked awesome and the light effects, just mind blowing... I did an exploration site, and the gas clouds, ships and generally, space itself, just looked awesome.
Makes me wish there were 24" full HD plasma monitors... because the true black of a Plasma on full HD is just amazing. Seriously, if you can, get a look at EvE on a 50" full HD Plasma, you'll blow your mind.
And my wife told me not to get ideas... hehe... getting a permanent 50" Plasma monitor... <drool>
Kudos to the CCP art department, fine work, fine work. The only negative (and likely easily resolved) issue was the font size (normally play 1680x945)

It's not the size of display that matters... you can use a wall projector if you want that. It's the colour depth and amazing graphics that you get when playing on a Plasma screen.

Ok, Ok. I'll screenshot from both normal LCD (PC) display and from Plasma. I'm intrigued as to whether it truly saves what I see on the Plasma.
Will do so in about 10 hours (work...)

I fail to see how anybody not playing on a plasma will be able to see the difference in the screenshots you ask for...

Bloody good point. So... just get EvE on a laptop, take an HDMI cable with you, and head off to your local electronics store and ask to try it out on a demo screen. :P
Saves me time. Thanks Hamatitio.

Guys... the thread is about the Picture QUALITY, not the size...
i.e. Plasma looking awesome compared to LCD... and no screenshots can show this as (kindly pointed out above) you'd still be viewing it on an LCD/CRT...

I agree, those big TV's have such awesome blacks it's... awesome. Haven't played Eve on it, but you can tell even by watching TV going from a tube to a HD TV.
Screens won't show it, because it has to do with the thing showing the image, not the image itself.

I play mine on the most ghetto LCD allowable by law, and it still looks great.
I have seen it on a high end PC with a 20 something inch very nice monitor. It looked absolutely incredible.
I would imagine on a 50 inch HD plasma it would be like taking 3 hits of acid and getting a hand-job from a Swedish hooker. Or something similarly as exhilarating.
Wow my spell checker corrected handjob.
Imagine how cool that would look on 50 in HD. The little red squiglley would look like it was real.

I have news for you mate.
HIGHER RESOLUTION = HIGHER QUALITY.
So guess what? resolution corrosponds to better quality. Get your head out of the sand you tit. You are trying to tell me that by stretching an image that I see on a single 24" screen over 50" it looks better? Same resolution over larger area = less ppi = worse quality not better.
Get a grip.

No, you get reading glasses. I never ones said that SIZE is what I'm pushing - yes, I mention the size of TV, but that's it. I'm saying that PLASMA technology >>>>> LCD/LED. Get it? Yes? It's the colour depth that is superior. Comprende?
Same resolution, same size - Plasma looks far better than LCD. That's what I'm saying...
Ai caramba.

Yes, Higher Resolution = Higher Quality and more details, but the colors will still look bad if your monitor isn't very good. Brannor is talking about the color quality, not the amount of details that only resolution can improve.

This.
You are still looking at a stretched out image. Colour doesnt mean anything. Its like taking a photo taken with a 1 MP camera and blowing it up to a 50x50. It will look like garbage. You can spend all the money you want on an expensive photo development to make it look nice but in the end its still bad quality compared to the original image.
Blacks on my screen look just fine. And I sure as hell would not trade a deeper black for a terrible ppi ratio.

size isn't everything. there are some pretty poor 24" screens available out there.
I've got two very good 24 inch screens and a 50 inch plasma and most stuff looks better on the Panasonic plasma tv simply because the screen and backlight is better despite being 200 pixels smaller on one axis.
the new Panasonic tvs also have some features on them which not even top end monitor have which affect lighting and colour depth.
it really depends on the quality of the screen. and no lcd will look as good as a half decent plasma screen.

Brannor is right, But to appreciate what he is saying better, it is best to realise that with plasma technology, each plasma subpixel (R,G or B) *emits * light whereas with LCD, each subpixel is an LCD segment which blocks the light coming from the backlight to varying degrees.
This means when the LCD is blocking the backlight light 100%, as in a pure black pixel, there is always *some* leakage. Plasma can provide perfect black, as it is not actually emitting any light, vs LCD which cant help but leak light for a black pixel.
Plasma contrast is simply superior to LCD; LED backlight or not.

So you're saying he is totally wrong and his eyes are lying and it doesn't really look any better.
