CCP, here's another glorious opportunity from which you may profit. Oh wait, I mean donate minus a nominal servicing fee, of course.

I hope PLEX prices go up to 1bil a piece.
That would be hilarious to watch people whine about it.
Or better, the whiners quitting eve.

If you think CCP isn't benefiting financially you're sorely mistaken. Removing liability from the books equals profit!

In my country the recipient of charitable donations can claim back the tax I have paid on the donation, which can result in them getting twice the money I have donated. This is the main reason that I don't donate to the PLEX for good schemes.

The real issue here was when CCP bowed down to pressure and did the plex for Pakistan. While it was just the Haiti disaster, they could mark is as a "we'll help when it's unimaginably bad". Now if they don't help other places, it comes across as a "why are you deeming place X to be worthy and not place Y".
The genie is out the bottle and unless they revert back to helping no one, they are going to be pressured to help everyone.
I suppose this must be my sig. I'll do something cool with it eventually. |

I think it is safe to say that CCP will get bored of this whole "donate" things pretty quick, frankly I am......they have government's that manage their economies, let them look after themselves, it is called natural selection

Edited by: Florio on 18/10/2010 12:34:17 I would be highly surprised if CCP made any money for the PLEX to Pakistan or whatever. The tax relief probably works something like this (this is UK tax to the best of my knowledge): CCP normally pays tax on all revenue it receives; CCP get an exemption on any revenue it then passes on to a recognised charity; thus CCP does not have to pay tax (the "tax relief" people are getting worked up about) on the PLEX revenue that is given to charity.
Therefore CCP do not make any money from the tax relief, they just don't have to pay tax on the extra revenue they generate from PLEX-for-good sales where that revenue is given to charity. CCP are getting the same profit and same tax burden whether PLEX-for-good are purchased or not.
Having said that, and perhaps an accountant could clarify, it may be that CCP pays less tax if enough PLEX-for-good were purchased if it reduces the overall turnover into a lower tax bracket. So, and this is speculation of course, if PLEX sales pushed CCP into a higher rate tax bracket then converting those sales into charitable status may move CCP back into the lower band. I'm really moving into conjecture there though lol.

There is too much ISK in the game.
Plex for charity, Plex for remap and whatever the future Plex things will be is a way to remove it.
I, for one, approve of this.

It has not yet. It needs to though... Maybe we can use the plex for that to hire Randy Marsh to sink it? California = Quebec

I was not aware that you had to help all of a country with charitable donations. I will have to stop giving to The Govan Buckfast Collective if that is the case.
