Hey y'all
I have come to the point where my main char on one account is trained to my satisfaction so I thought I should create an new char on that same account for the sole purpose of flying a Nyx. Im thinking it would be handy to have a separate char "imprisoned" in a SC and not my main.
I havent created a char in a few years so Im kinda lost here. Is there any particular race and bloodline more optimal?
Many Thanks in advancf

Time which would be used up creating the character, naming it, dressing it, logging in it, flying to skillbooks, injecting skillbooks...
All in all, it's cheaper and quicker to train your main to it.

Make it a Gallente alt so you can avoid---Wait, thats a load of crap, the amount of time saved is so insignificant that you don't need to worry about it.
To actually fly the ship though, you need the following skillset or better.
Effectively maxed learning skills, since you're going to be locked in a set of +3's for almost as long as you have it, so you want your attributes as high as possible.
So that means you need:
Capital Ships V Carrier V Fighterbombers V Projected Electronic Countermeasures 4 at the minimum Projected Logistics Module skill x at 4 or higher Effectively perfect mechanic skills Effectively perfect navigation skills Jump Drive Calibration V is an absolute requirement Jump Fuel Conservation V is nice, but not a requirement Generally perfect drone skills is another requirement
There's probably more, but I just can't think of it at the moment. "The point of war is not to die for your country, its to make the other bastard die for his." |

Keep playing your main till you figure it out by yourself.
One does not simply walk into a Supercap.

In the navigation section, you will not need any of the afterburner or microwarpdrive skills. Logistic skills are a bit of a 'meh' for a SC, but for a carrier (Which you should fly a lot before you get a SC) they are a must.

true, but then he has no main anymore. Unless they train (or buy) a sc alt (who can at the bare minimum sit in it, doesn't need weapons and such, just needs the ship requirements) once trained, nyx bought....that main is now glued to that ship till they day it dies or is sold. MOst sc pilots I know...planned and raised an alt when they knew sc's in the future. Or were some ca/plexing fiends to buy a sc sitter (people who sell these...know you will pay for them for the convenience of having your main back, these aren't cheap).
Leaving an unmanned sc floating around in a pos not on the top 10 list of things to do in eve imo.

This and remember that anyone capable of flying a carrier can fly a mom as well that makes anyone in your corp/alliance a possible thief.

Train your main for it then train a babysitter pilot. The babysitter just has the skills to sit in it and you'd never take it outside a POS with the babysitter. That way you can keep using your main but the sc is safely logged off under your control.
There are still risk but it's a quick way (6 months).
Starting a brand new character you can be in a sc in less than 6 months. That includes jump drive skills to 4, and a few other skills like hull upgrades to 5 etc.
Use evemon to plan it and make remap points after ordering the skills by attributes, you get 2 remaps. You can blast cybernetics to 4 within the first 2 days of its life and get +4s in.
Oh look, a Power of 2 promotion..!

EveMon can easily tell you what a basic alt to just sit in it (not fly it or be able to jump) would take. I'm guessing around 120 days assuming optimal mapping that you don't change and +5 implants. Also around 1b in skill books.

I too prefer the sitter option, that way you get the kills and benefit from additional support skills, sitter alts for super-carriers are pretty cheap and quick to train, as you litterally need:
