I was thinking about all the wasted SP I have in skills that I either have no use for or don't want at all. Then it occured to me that EvE is probably the only game I can think of that doesn't have a "reskill" option of some sort. I know you can change your stats once a year and that is great and all but what if we had an option to "buy" our SP back and redirect it into what we want? Lets say every 1000 SP costs 1 million ISK. Make it expensive to do but not SO expensive as nobody could use it. Then all that worthless SP could be put into skills I need or want to use now. I don't personally think this is too far out there as to be viable. A lot of the higher skills have a LOT of SP in them. You wouldn't see people...at least not many...respecing entirely. My 37 million SP pilot would cost 37 BILLION to respec. Lets say I didn't want Heavy Missile Spec anymore. It would cost 1.28 Billion ISK to drop it from Level 5 to untrained.
Does this seem like a fair and good idea? Or is this something that would ruin the game?
Another + to this is the economy. This would be one of those things that would take money OUT of the game completely and help with economy balance.

I like the idea. Eve takes so much time to be able to do anything, and it has a steep learning curve so of course newbies are going to waste time training stuff they will later realize they don't want. I guess that might make it less of a RPG if you're not locked into your choices. But meh... its a game. Games should be a little forgiving. I also think you should be able to train all three character slots simultaneously though, so, I'm a bit of a heretic.

I agree. Allowing people to buy a re-skill is microtransaction area a lot of the Playerbase is up in arms against. Please read some of the many threads and the recently released notes from the CSM meetings with CCP to see why things like this are probably a bad idea.

I sense....faildari pilot who wants to respec instead of retrain for better pvp (pvp alliance, caldari char...been there, I know the pain). X-train like the rest of us have done or started to do.
Many of the pita 5's have really lon trains that scream "are you sure you want to do this?". You said yes I did when you put them in your clone. Made your bed, lay in it lol.

Learning how to ride a bicycle and suddenly forgetting how to do that should in no way help you in instantly learning how to draw manga.

That's reMAPPing, not reSKILLing, dingbat It's more like "hey, I realized I like drawing more than driving, so I'll pay more attention to drawing lessons than driving lessons from now on".

Agreed. Remapping for plex, why not reskilling for plex? All those ignorant new players who think mining is a good source of income .. it's really sad if that can't be made undone.

having reached 120 mill sp i know i have tons of skill i never uses. however i would never want to have em replaced. why should mistakes in the past not have impact in the future ??? the other day i booted diablo 2 up again, and to my disgrace i now saw that you could find eccense at all the high bosses. this you could mix in your cube and have all your skills reset. WHAT A JOKE. i uninstalled imidietly. if same **** happends in eve theres only one way for a lot of players.. uninstall.... live with the skills u trained damnit. who knows one day u might need em again anyways.. ffs i have skills inserted that are not even in the game.. alot has btw.. it only proves your oldschool... and as such an hounour. and would we really want caracters all trained in a perfect way ? im sure we all have some skills wich proves we once were carebears. so ****ing what.. a converted carebear is more lethal than a true pvp player because he knows the value of hes ship and therefor look after it more probely. j/k
but i say no to this silly idea.. and hoover my finger ower unsintstall button lol

Why not introduce buying plain skillpoints at the same time, just to bring the absurdity to its peak? Lets say 1 plex per 10 million sp?

You don't have any. SP are never wasted, and even if they were, it's a good thing that people have to live with their choices and not chase the latest FOTM.

Think before you train something... I think everyone has a couple of skills they hardly use or don't use at all. So? You picked it yourself so you can either live with it or biomass yourself (in game ofcourse...)

Ah the pain....it HURTS
1. I think the guy who said "you can, it's 2 PLEX" wanted to introduce a stealthcriticism about MT. At least that is how I understood it.
2. OP: WTF? If you want to relocated skill go to another MMORPG. Did you read only a few of the threads where the posters where willing to hang anyone at CCP for introducing "PLEX for Remap" and now you want to introduce even MORE Microtransactions? even for SP? You should really try to "interpret the mood".
Anyway: If it does not seem obvious why its a bad idea (most of the same reasons why Micratransaktions are seen a bad way to do things in Eve already) then all hope is lost. Btw: Most skills have a use und you may be happy to have them at some point. Even Mining Skills on a combat character or whatever. But I got a "Skills under Level IV are ugly" fetish anyway so even may stepchild skills I never use should be at least to IV...

I had some extra RL cash, so I went to shattered crystal and purchased a time code.
I took that time code and turned it into two PLEX's and sold them on the market.
I took the isk and bought a Zealot (fully fit 135mil), some minerals to build fighters and I'm sitting on the rest of the isk now.
I performed a micro-transaction.

Eve is a video game not RL try and and the distinction
It's going to happen anyway it does not matter how many people whine, cry or threaten to quit. It's CCP's game and they will do whatver they want. They are a business and money talks. Plus World Of Darkness, Dust and eventually EVE 2 must be costing them a fortune.
Looking forward to skill remaps, buying more skills and skill speedups and whatever else they bring. $$$

It's a truly awful idea.
However, if CCP decides that it has some commercial merit, then it will happen sooner or later.

1 million ISK to get rid of that embarrassing level in Mining that the old tutorial automatically gave my otherwise pure PvP character? Yes please. I don't even want the SP back, just give me a way to get rid of them and I'll be happy.
(Though more seriously, it will be a cold day in hell when you get 1:1 SP transfer. Try 50% or less, and you might not be quite so crazy.) -----------

No you didn't. You just made a standard trade.
Nothing was spawned, nothing was added, nothing was removed, beyond what the standard mechanics of trading does (i.e. some ISK was flushed in taxes and fees). CCP gave you nothing. No mechanics were bypassed.

This. Eve has enough camping as it is, the last thing we need is Bloodknights camping the graveyard in capital ships waiting to pop everyone who gets a res.
