Probably half of large successful corps(maybe 1/3 maybe 2/3) are run by normal well balanced people. But psychosis + bravado can take you a long way in EVE indeed. Wherever you went - Here you are.

Few realize the responsibilities that a CEO has, because they have never been CEO. They've been directors and think that is the same thing, but in most cases I really doubt it. If you have members that support the corporation and together help create the atmosphere that is desired (usually set by CEO-guidelines and a shared agreement) and everyone agrees to mostly follow those guidelines, then it is easier. However as the corporation grows larger, and with recruitment, it becomes more and more of a chore to deal with things like that. I know some CEO's just ignore deviants and 24/7 solo-players, but doing that can lower morale if it becomes known that certain members won't help out/participate/support their corp at all. In some sense I can understand how it can be required to be a bit psychotic/insane to be a CEO, because under some situations I've been there, and it has got all to do with human relations. If the chemistry isn't there, if you do not have do'ers in your corp, if several people are singlemindedly occupied with playing as if the corp is unimportant; then it becomes a chore. Sometimes it is because of a bad CEO, sometimes because of how individuals treat corporations and playing this game (eg. as if it was a single player experience). After a while members build up a resistance to "being instructed what to do and when", and it becomes more and more difficult to get through to some members. If you have a system of delegation and it's not only you barking out orders (multiple channels of influence is important or eventually you will be filtered out by some or many). If you do not have a system of delegation, then it also will lead to the cessation of cohesion in the corporation - because some will adhere to what you are doing (low participation) and some will simply be "AFK" because they :cba:. Which probably will result in a CEO that starts yelling and barking and being generally psychotic. I think people should love their CEO's more.
