It is an idea I have been toying with for some time, but have always been to busy with RL and corp duties to actually set the thing up.
Have you seen mining buddy? I wonder if this sort of thing could ease your math load, and every member of the fleet using mining buddy would have an exact figure of what they have earnt during the op.
Take care and fly safe 07

i just checked loot logging in fleets, looks like ccp fixed...
Loot log is now accurate in mining ops down to pilot/oretype/quantity mined during operation. Tested between two separate corps, orca croporate hanger accessable by fleet members, etc...
no more ship-to ship transfer logs, etc.... nasty stuff.

Oh well, I can't say that the first open mining op was a tremendous success as only one hulk pilot showed up, but still, it happened. We mined about 2 hours in company which is more fun (and more profitable) than mining solo.
NEXT MINING OP WILL BE TUESDAY DECEMBER 7th at 20:00 EVE TIME if you wish to join sign up in the Minnie Miners mailing list

Hey thanks for taking the time to setup a mining operation like this. I might swing by that area of space and check it out.
Take care and good luck on your next op.

You have my full support. Currently I'm in a WH, when I get to Hi-sec, I'll give you a buzz. I also have one Orca that is not doing anything, and I can fly it (53.74% mining boost ATM).

The second open mining op took place yesterday and saw 2 hulks and a retriever joining the fleet. Not a huge fleet I agree, still a step forward. We spent a bit more than a hour mining and then a couple of hours doing lvl4 mining missions.
NEXT OPEN MINING OP WILL BE SUNDAY, DECEMBER 12th, at 20:00 EVE TIME

OK, so you do not know when Hulkageddon is. You are speaking of a mining op which is not going to happen during hulkageddon anyway. You are speaking of miners who will be free not to mine during Hulkageddon. You are speaking of people that you do not know and that you did not take even 1 minute of your time to know. In general, you do not have anything concrete to say.
So, what is the point of your post apart showing your paranoia?
Gee the most annoying part of organizing these mining op is facing people like you, that never make anything, never have any initiative, are never constructive, but still do not miss a chance to criticize, blame, accuse .... (and on top with no supporting information or fact at all)

Good Luck on your endeavour SAV. I have offered Orca bonuses (my two hulks mining away as well) to newbies on many occassions in Hisec belts and grav belts I scan out, but to no avail. ZERO takers! Not sure why I bother anumore so do not be disulliosned by the poor response. As long as those 1-3 keep coming back you will slowly grow your op.

ZERO takers!
I see two possible reasons: - Miners are too paranoid to trust someone offering something for free - Most Miners actually are bots that don't care about bonuses.

When i was mining in highsec (5-6 months ago) there was a guy offering free orca boost. As there where always 10-15 miners i was the only one accepting (and thanking). They repetetly came looking in the belt i was mining in, to see my hulk go boom. Ofc never happend.
IŠm sure they never heard of the "lofty scam" which is gone since ages but they must be afraid of "something". Asking in local why they donŠt join gives multiple funny/silly/rude answers but nothing "valuable".
As i was on my alt i was very thankful for the boost, and did give iskies as well to the booster. Keep it up, one day you will find someone joining.

Yesterday we finally had what can be called a fleet. The open mining op saw 4 hulks, a covetor and a retriever joining the Orca and mining away for 3 hours. We first took advantage of a mission deadspace pocket full of pyroxeres (nocxium being traded at 400+ isk) and then we stripped a belt in Metropolis 0.5 space.
NEXT OPEN MINING OP will be FRIDAY December 17th at 20:00 EVE time. To sign up join the Minnie Miners mailing list.

In the EVE mail window, at the bottom of the left column there is a "mailing list" button. If you click on that (right or left, I do not remember) then it allows you to join in-game mailing lists. The name of the mailing list you might want to join is "Minnie Miners".

My buddy and I intended to do some mining tonight. We are both around three weeks old. Is there a requirement for skill-points, ship fit-out, or anything else that we'd need to know before joining? Tonight is the 17th and 2000 EVE time is what time on the East coast of America? Forgive my naivete. Btw, he's in a miner-osprey and I'm in a retriever? Procurer? One of the two. Dunno..LOL!
I think I just answered my own question. EVE-time is GMT and NY is GMT-5 so 2000 is, in actuality 1500 for me...which is 0200pm...a half an hour ago. Ooops! It looks like I'm late. Sorry for wasting your time. If you're going to be mining later tonight like 2400 EVE time then we'll be able to join you

The problem your having Savoian, is the mining profession itself is worthless unless you have a miner/builder. Mining is not a good way to spend your time if you are just selling the minerals. Basically a can is 27500 * 60 is 1,650, 000 isk. But the rate at which a miner fills the can, will slow down there isk making potential depending upon skills. a good hulk pilot orca boosted bringing in lets say 1732m3 a cycle which is 5196 let say every 138 secs 2.3mins. so every 12 mins the pilot makes 1.6 mil isk? and in an hour he makes 8 mil isk plus or minus ? that is alot of time gone for very little isk.
Remember you are competeing with missions and the game is all about making isk. for a noob this might not be a bad idea, but they make more ninja salvaging which takes less time. And for an experienced hulk pilot this is definetly not worth it. So there your delimma. The idea is not bad, its the strictly mining profession that is. There is no isk in being just a miner Contact me Ingame I have a better Idea that might just work though.

hm, funny, sitting in my hulk with no fleet boost I've got a cool 1710m3 per minute. I really hope a "good" Orca pilot can give me more than 20 m3/cycle.
Haven't been mining in a few days (yay trying to get 0% tax for a new NPC corp ) wonder what the new fleet skills will bring to the table...

The next open mining op will be tomorrow Thursday December 23rd at 20:00 EVE time, and will be the last op of the year. Once more, to join please sign up in the Minnie Miners mailing list.
To answer some of the above questions/points:
- there are no skill or ship requirements. Last time we had a mining fitted Megathron joining, I doubt you can be more weird than that :-) Still, I pay isk/m3, so if you are not skilled and/or in a non efficient ship, you will just earn less isk
- mining is not terribly lucrative, I agree, still it offers some advantages: 1) while mining you can chat with other people 2) you can activate the strip miner cycle and go afk for up to 10 minutes while the thing works for you 3) rocks rarely shoot back and it's hard to lose your ship

BUMP Quick update: the operation of December 23rd has seen 14 pilots joining to strip a pyrox field in a deadspace pocket and then an entire belt in a nearby system. We then had the first operation of 2011 last week .... with only 2 hulks and 2 retrievers joining.
Next operations will be announced through the Minnie Miners mailing list.
