I'd love to make a bug report but either the log file is huge, or the log server crashes.
I've tried reinstalling, repair tool, clearing cache, driver updates, running eve in admin mode, and compatibility mode.
win7 ultimate 64bit i3 530 @ 2.93GHz 4 GB ram nvidia 9800GT
I wouldn't really care all that much but I keep ****ing losing my god damn drones and it gets really ****ing annoying to buy stupid ass drones all the ****ing time..... (yea losing drones is pretty much the worst thing that can happen to me in this game so far)

Is there anything specific you do that causes a crash? Are you more likely to crash while in space versus a station, for example? Getting LogServer data would be useful. Run it, and every so often clear the log entries (Tools -> Clear All Logs or use the shortcut Ctrl + Delete) so it doesn't crash on you. Post any lines from the end of the log that look like warnings or errors
Did this recently start happening, or did it begin since the last patch?

I believe it is most common in missions, although I could just be remembering it that way because of the losing drones bit. it is usually in space but sometimes in station (I think).
running multiple clients it usually only one will crash.
ah well if I can clear log server lines I guess that would help. guess I'll try for that tonight.
and I want to say it has been happening ever since I got my computer with windows 7, around March.

hmm I'm getting this error A LOT!
ExeFile CRT invalid parameter handler: <none>:0 in <none>
Expression: <none>
those 2 over and over
my initial suspicion is that I get it when I'm sitting near an acceleration gate. hmm I warped out of that area and stopped getting it. although it doesn't seem to be causing a crash.

Edited by: Vmir Gallahasen on 10/11/2010 06:12:37 Do you still have crashes if you reduce your eve settings (especially shaders and shadows [edit: sound too])? Do you experience crashes on warping in to the mission (as stuff is loading) or randomly during a mission?

ok, this is getting stupid. 12 DC's in 6 hours and no sign of any improvement. I've run ping tests, tracert, checked, double and triple checked my net connection. I've messed with my router, my pc and my wi-fi usb stick. The only thing that cuts out is EVE.
Will someone from CCP please respond to atleast one of these damned threads and give us some hint that you are even paying attention.

Im working on an idea that I think might actually provide a solution. I have spent the last few weeks looking into this issue and running every test I could think of. The one thing that everybody mentions is some level of packet loss to the EVE server.
I was messing around with my router when I came across the option to manually set the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit), this limits the maximum packet size that the router will transmit to any given IP address, whether it be through a game client such as EVE, or any website accessed through a browser.
Numerous cases exist where the user has had connection issues due entirely to the fact that their router was attempting to transmit too large a packet of information and this resulted in overly long ping times with the net result that the packet was lost.
Now in the case of normal websites this results in abnormally long load times, or an inabilty to access certain websites, and in the case of EVE it results in DC's. Im currently attempting to test this theory whilst running various analysis programs to test the health of each packet as its sent.
I'll get back to you with my results in a few hours.

Edited by: Aeronwen Carys on 10/11/2010 10:24:06 Right, I've now been running my test for over an hour, during which time I would normally have suffered slow downs on websites and atleast 4 DC's on one or both of my EVE accounts so I'm hoping I have actually found a solution :D
This solution requires access to your routers software so im not certain it will apply to everyone with this issue, but here goes anyway. Most routers have the ability to set what is known as the MTU, or Maximum Transmission Units. This allows the user to define the maximum size of the data packets that your router will try to send out.
Now, when a packet is sent out that is too large it seems that it cannot be read properly by the intervening systems between your router and CCP's servers. This, from what I can determine, is one reason for packet loss and as we know packet loss with EVE leads to DC's.
Obviously not all routers are the same so this may take a little extra work on your part, but for my router (Huwaei HG521) the optimal setting for MTU is 1400. My suggestion for people with different brands of routers would be to start with an MTU of 1400 and steadily increase it by 10 until you find the most stable set-up, details of how to alter the MTU of your router should be freely availble through the magic of google and/or your router manufacturers booklet/online guide.
Please note that I am by no means a proffessional and the alterations I have made are to my own property and done at my own risk, so if you try this and manage to somehow blow up half your neighbourhood, I take zero responsibility :D
I will add that I have tried every other method described on these forums and many, many others. I came by this solution by way of blending ideas from most of those other sources, adding a dash of my own inability to leave things alone and just "HTFU". Everything is stable, I have suffered no packet loss, no abnormally large ping rates and more importantly, no DC's whatsoever from EVE :D
To those of you who try this, I really hope it works for you :D If not, keep plugging away and we'll find a solution for everyone eventually, just hang in there.
EDIT: I am aware that not everyone uses a router/modem and I am currently looking up the methods for altering the MTU within Win 7/Vista and XP, I will post again with the relevant links and how to guides just as soon as I find some :D

disconnects != crashes (on a side note when I was getting lots of disconnects I got a new router and well I don't get disconnects almost ever now)
oh and hai cutter
back on topic:
I haven't really played with the eve settings as it didn't seem there was any problem with load on the gpu/cpu/ram. and the crashes mostly happen in the middle of a mission, and sometimes elsewhere.

Someone else is having disconnection issues also, and they are connecting via a USB wifi device as well. Perhaps that is the issue?
That other player had no issues when they used a wired connection. Can you try that and see if your problem stops? Link to the other problem thread ----------

Umm not being nasty here but don't mess about with MTU unless you actually have some idea of what you're doing. IF you don't understand what it says in this (and all the subsections) : MTU/fragmentation linkage then don't bugger about with it. Really.
A lot of this stuff relies on ICMP which most consumer routers and pretty much ALL windows default installs block some aspect of. It can and does result in sites/services becoming totally unavailable - XBox Live is a good example as if you set the MTU too low then the Live service simply won't work.
tl;dr setting a local MTU/MSS is a pretty bad idea unless you KNOW what your upstream supplier (ISP for most) is doing. PMTU should work but again most consumer items are cr*p in networking terms and that breaks things in amusing ways.

You'd be surprised, I think. Middle of a mission is where the game is doing the most StuffÖ (audio and graphics wise) and so has the best chance of getting an error if a driver is to blame.
Just give it a shot and tell us what happens

The eve-client keeps locking-up/crashing on my very often (just did it two times in 5-10 mins).
(I am on a Mac)
I tried to reinstall, reinstall the patch, delete the pref folder, run the repair program, and still it crashes on my all the time. Not very playable.

I've been getting rampant and random crashes lately as well. No other game on my system gives me CTD's, and it's only been a problem in the past month or so.... a few months back I didn't have any trouble at all. It doesn't happen at any particular time either, I could be mid warp or sitting in a station and I'll get a sudden crash. I've tried disabling sound and turning the graphics to minimum, still crashes. I even formatted my PC recently and went back to Windows XP (64 bit), still crashes. Very very frustrating.

I'm being crashed so hard that I'm actually butthurt. And that normally takes a lot. No other game with the problem, xbox live is working for my friend in the house fine so it's not the internet. I've tried different accounts, reinstalling eve, updating drivers, using a different machine in the house. I've tried everything I could, so the only conclusion I can come to, is that it's not me, it's eve, possibly. Though not all players are experiencing it, it seem a lot are. After LITERALLY 1 minute of playing eve, it drops me. Eve has become unplayable.
PS. just a small note, I wish we could turn back time to 2003/04 where there were just a small number of us eve players, and there were no fancy capitals, and the server simply, worked! Companys now seem to get ahead of themselves and realease unfinished games, broken patches, and basically just suck. I don't know what happened to the good old days but ccp please get your **** together. It would be nice if they bothered to reply to threads as well, or even my petition.

I have the exact same problem, I also have Win7 64bit. To me it happens with 2 accounts, in space as well as in station. I understand the drone dilemma, I have it too... It all started; for me anyways, with the release of the 3rd update to Tyrannis 1.2 on Tuesday. Since then constant disconnects and quite unplayable. Go on, there is nothing to read here... |

I'm having this problem too. The game disconnects (reboots eve client automatically) every.... 5 or so minutes. Doesn't matter what I do or don't do. Started right after downtime today. Was completely fine before downtime, and now it's messing everything up. I haven't changed anything, or installed anything recently. I can be afk traveling, sitting in a station, flying around, chatting.... nothing changes. I still disconnect.

It seems the disconnect problems originates with Win7 64 bit. I am running 2 clients on same machine disconnecting simultanously. And here comes the fun part - a corp member runs 3 clients; 2 on an XP machine and 1 on a Win7 64bit machine. While doing some ice mining, we dc'ed within 1 minute - 3 times, but only his Win7 client dc'ed - the 2 clients running on his XP machine stayed online. I am sure it has something do do with a Win7 recent update. Have tried all other suggestions found via forum and Google - no cure... So convinced what should be looked for is a Win7 update messing with internet flow. Let's continue the quest...

In PVP it's just unbearable, like crashing every 20 seconds, in a station or warping around it still crashes but infrequently. It also causes the computer to BSOD sometimes. I've reinstalled eve probably 3 times and reinstalled all my drivers and still no fix. I'm also on Win7 x64
