Just tried setting graphics to Optimized for Memory. Ran fine for about 3 mins then wepons/ship stopped responding and CTD, followed by eve reloading as per a log out.
Is anybody from CCP reading this?

Here's what I'm getting over and over since the 17-Jan-2011 release:
Faulting application name: ExeFile.exe, version: 6.40.21.9061, time stamp: 0x4d26e887 Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16559, time stamp: 0x4ba9b29c Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00038c19 Faulting process id: 0x1254 Faulting application start time: 0x01cbbc065cb737c0 Faulting application path: D:\Games\CCP II\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll Report Id: b3875e40-27f9-11e0-87dd-00044b04cf00
I'm trying to collect log files and run the clients with the /minidump option but when I get the crash - there is no option to save any dump. Yes - 64 bit Win7 with 2x GTX260 in SLI latest Nvidia drivers 266 (I think) AA off in game, post processing also off, other options enabled/high.
Sounds like a bad Win API call to me as ntdll.dll is part of the kernel...maybe something that's passing the wrong type argument for 64 bit? Maybe trying to cram too big a number in too small a variable type...sometimes? I dunno just a guess.
As with other posters some CCP feedback would be nice...oh hell how about just saying you read the thread ?
Glad you guys don't build cars :)

Had originally crashed in space. Every time I tried to log in, I would crash a few seconds before I landed on grid from the warp in. This happened for at least a week. Amazingly it is working fine tonight. Still have some wierd mouse flicker though (especially noticable on character select screen)

Since last week, EVE keeps crashing for me frequently, too.
Win7, 32bit
It seems to crash whenever I do something with the different dialogues/windows. It almost always crashes when loading wallet history, when loading market data for an item, when openining skill queue manager (sometimes even when opening character sheet), when joining a fleet, when opening the broadcast options window, etc...
So always when a new window opens or I try to interact with one in some way, it crashes. BUT: It's not reproducable. Sometimes it won't crash, but in 4 of 5 cases it will crash. Seriously, the game is unplayable this way...

win7 32 bit I update orders all day in jita, well i try to, because the client crashes every hour or so when the memory gets close to 2gb size. Also every market order refresh or item history etc seems to increase the size by at least 1mb

I play on two comps.
Windows 7 64Bit Ati 5870 gfx card- crashes every minute or so. My mac book pro, never crashes.
Reading through the thread it looks like a lot of users with win 7 64 bit are facing the issue. Reinstalling later today to see if helps, found a nother similar thread about a dll file (_trinity.dll(?)) that could be corrupted. So this time I am keeping a backup of my eve installation...

This issue is really starting to get on my nerves!!
One day will run for hours + hours trouble free. Next day, DC's every 5 minutes or so!! Then perfectly fine for another week! No pattern, no specific part of game, absolutely no changes to my PC. Every single other indicator of how the internet connection is performing shows no problem when the drops occur (speedtest, pingtest, pingplotter etc.). All too often Pingplotter will show "destination address unreachable" at the last hop to CCP server but usually I can play through dozens of these instances without a problem. Look at the pingplotter chart at the time of a drop out and all is fine????
Forget wasting your time with the suggestions posted: cache, repair tool, SFX, graphics settings, re-install client, etc. etc. I've tried them all and it makes no difference.
Looking at the number of people who seem to have the same issues I'm convinced that it is not related to my PC/internet.
It's making the game unplayable and no fun + I'm sick off losing millions of ISK in drones and generally p**ssing around having to deal with drop outs!
CCP deal with this issue please - it is clearly a fault with your servers / game! At the very least acknowledge to us that there is an issue. We are after all paying you for this service!

I have a similar issue here. I upgraded to Win 7 32 bit a month ago. The game always crashes and restarts about 5 minutes into game play. It is generally stable for the rest of the night with a possible crash to desktop every two or three hours. I saw a work around listed in another thread, can't find the thread now. I start the client and let the client sit for five minutes before logging in. That seems to fix the crash early in game. I've tried to cache clearing, drivers etc. route with no success. There are no log files available.
Win 7 Core 2 duo 4 Gig ram nvidia GT 240
Any ideas would be helpful.

My clients are closing at random. I can have 2 or 3 clients open at a time and 1, 2 or all will close at random. They can be in space, in station, warping, standing still and in completely different parts of the universe and one or all will crash randomly. Not having issues with any other games or applications online or otherwise.

Edited by: Jadawin Khanidi on 14/03/2011 20:11:12 After months or even a year without any crashes I have been experiencing infrequent but numerous crashes over the past weeks. Sometimes one of my three clients survives, other times they all die. Behaviour is that the client becomes unresponsive (trying to chat produces an error sound), and shortly after that the client closes and restarts.
Yesterday three of my corpmates had several crashes too. So this is definitely server-side. Oddly, yesterday I was unaffected.
Today the worst happened: I lost all clients in the middle of a pvp fight. Only reason I didn't lose ships (only drones) was that my opponent had no warp disruptor.
The fight was in a w-space radar site, so there was no gate or wormhole-jumping involved.

So last night I decided to enable AA at 2x, and sure enough game crashed 3 times in a span of 15 minutes.
Win7 with 32 bit. GFX drivers current. Would like to see CCP recommend a GFX card, as I suspect my 9800 just can't handle the Eve AA.
EDIT: Went to Nvidia control panel, switched from app controlled AA to override and have the Nvidia control AA, hanven't had a crash yet, at least on 2x.
Seems to have worked for me too. No funny stuff today. ill run a couple of missions and spam the market tomorrow and see. That is usually when it really crashes (good thing i fly my tanked to hell domi these days or i would have lost several t3s by now)

I had another "crash" yesterday and it is now obvious that this is not really a crash of the client but a network problem. The client restarts, as it always does when it loses connection to the server.
After the last incident yesterday I could not reconnect to the server for about 10 minutes (Status: Unknown). I could also not connect to eveonline.com. But all other sites (I tried about a dozen) were working and as fast as always. So my connection was not generally faulty.
I'd still think it was a temporary problem with my provider if not for the threee corpmates who had very similar problems and live in another part of the country.
I'd like to hear if this is a known and recognized problem with networking, so I can expect the situation to improve. Because if nobody has acknowledged a problem it's probably not going to go away...

I'm starting to have this problem as well. I have it installed on a computer at work so in down time I can dork around. Knock on wood (I just did), no problems at all on that computer. My home computer (the better one) took me 4 days to find a "work-around" to get past the splash screen finally. After about an hour playing I get d/c'd everytime I try to do something with the market. If I get past that then I have the D/C happen at portals (or gates) or whatever they are called here.
Since the splash screen thing was Vcredist_86x and that is something that tells the game to run. I'm figuring changing the settings or something with the video card is causing my problem. Could be packet info or something like that, but no issues with WoW or other games.
I did see a post that you can change the amount of RAM the game has access to which will improve performance, but I'll be damned if i can find what the guy was talking about to change it.

So these crashes happen with both Win7 and Win XP but not on macs. What updates were issued by Microsoft that are common to both Win7 and Win XP? Also, those with Win XP crashes, do you guys have 32bit or 64bit versions?

I've recently started having this problem too. My client will lock up in that everything keeps moving, but will not respon to commands. There is no noticable loss of framerate, and I can still use evevoice normally, or at the very least listen in. I've even heard people talking about me having disconnected...
After a couple of minutes, the client disconnects.
This happens whether I am using an alt at the same time or not, if I am using an alt, then only one of my clients DCs and the other stays functional. One client has has sound enabled, the other does not, and either can crash.
It seems to have started in the last week and has happened during incursions, both at safe spots when gathering fleets and in combat as well. There have also been 'mass-disconnects' where several people drop connections simultaneously, or within minutes of each other.
Now that we have added NPCs that do large amount of damage, full ewar and scrams, disconnects are all the more devestating and threaten to make incursions almost unplayable for me.

Same problem as most. Game freezes, sometimes background programs, skype etc still run and sometimes just a plain crash sometimes 20mins into play and sometimes hours. Windows 7 32bit, geforce 9800. PC Runs multiple clients perfectly. Crashes ONLY occur during eve. I have no graphical or lag issues running 2+clients.
Needs CCP to address.
+1 to petition.
