I am wanting to bracnh out into PI but dont have a clue where to start. My Advanced Planetology is at 5 with the remaining at 4. I have watched video's on Youtube and also browsed these forums but it still seems a nightmare. Does anyone have any step by step guides that are easily followed?
Thanks

There are a lot of guides out there on how to PI, easily done on google; I can't be bother to link them sorry. However, I will save you some Isk before you start building all the wrong stuff in all the wrong places. First of all work out what you are going to do with PI. Are you going to extract stuff, or make stuff? Mostly players will say refine stuff so it take up less space, and then sell it. However if you check prices you will find that often the Raw materials can be sold for the most amount of money (Felsic Magma for example). So check which Raw material or Processed material sells for the most, and then just do that (if you are just going to extract stuff). While you can produce some refined commodities on a single planet, obviously everyone does that and the price the stuff sells for is easily a half or third of that of stuff where you have to ships things between planets. If you want to make stuff, then either go for stuff like rocket fuel that is used by player POS which seem to sell relatively well; or if you are determined to produced Specialized commodites (and spend a month training for that), for God sake work out what sells first. Some stuff goes for about 900k isk, while Sterile Conduits goes for about 175k ish. Having built my entire production line to make Broadcast nodes and finding that they only sold for 288k was not exactly the highlight of me eve career :) Added to which, changes in PI is probably going to make it easier to for the big boys with multiple accounts and multiple alts alot easier to flood the market with high end stuff; and I'm sure that price will drop as a result. But don't let me put you off PI. 15 mins with a coffee in the morning all week, and then an hour or so when I have got a bit of play time, easily brings in 10 mill a week, which means that is three hours less mining I have to do (win-win).

Reading all the guides is great, but there is something to be said for jumping in and doing it for yourself. To this end I would recommend getting on the test server (sisi) and playing around. This way you won't be wasting millions of "real" isk when you realize your setup is completely wrong.

You could just even play with a basic one on tranq, its not that much of a cost.
