Or give players the ability to deal with them. Inhibiting their ability to detect in local, capacitor draw for any non-covops cloak....many ideas posted already. If the bots were vulnerable, the players would gladly assist you in dealing with the problem.

Give me a module that instantly jumps me to the location of a reported bot, protection from concord, and I will rain down great vengeance upon them.

I understand that it's sometimes difficult for CCP to distinguish between individual botters and obsessive (but real) players. However, in cases like this, in which there is so much overwhelming evidence, they should hold the alliance responsible.
Surely it will be much easier to recognise alliance-wide botting patterns than individual behaviour?
Alliances need to behave responsibly. If they can't do that, a warning and then, if they continue, a ban of the alliance (i.e. them losing their 0.0 space and all that), and their members returned to NPC corps. That would make a lot of alliances think twice before engaging in this kind of repuslive behaviour.

Are all these kills your own work? No

I know macros little a bit so it may not very hard for me to catch some of them.

It is probably not that easy, Mining is all the same routine anyway,.. So hard to tell one from Another. And also.
I bet some people, like myself who would never Macro anything in any mmo. Turn chat off. I frequent Recruitment/Troll channel a lot and need my breaks from EVE chat here and there, Even while mining.
And i am sure there are other things that could make it hard but am no pro in any of this so yeah. Should have some kind of tool that beeps the person to make them chat, if no chat pop and Ban.. Something though cause id be ****ed if i was mining with chat closed (tab) and bam got booted while rocking some Music.....
Anyhow in Lowsec if we see Macro users we just pop them.

Edited by: Rian O''Shea on 16/12/2010 12:32:01 EVE is a very fragile game, most of the serious business stuff is boring, tedious and done in the background. A large portion of the player base keeps playing because they can buy gametime with ingame isk, would this not be the case EVE would not have these subscription numbers. I wonder how high the percentage is of "not really playing, just training skills and buying a plex with my easy earned isk, hoping for the game to become fun again". Similarly, a large portion of keeping things going in 0.0 relies on cheap&easy minerals and ice.
The result is that IF CCP would actually, properly combat botting then a lot of people would lose their easy income so they'll stop playing as they suddenly have to actually PAY for EVE. And if ice and minerals take more effort to amass then 0.0 empires will start to crumble, there's lots of very boring and tedious effort needed to keep 0.0 alliances running and no one really wants to do it.
In short, the game would lose immediate customers due to having to pay for the game and it would lose more customers longer term due to 0.0 folks who stopped bothering. Mind you, these are "normal" players doing small scale botting, not RMT or the like and I doubt CCP is that brave to potentially lose those.
The ones who do it on a completely different level (RMT and alliance-wide setups)will bounce back if/when hit, the average Joe won't. Mind you, I'm not advocating botting on any level, just being realistic.
--- The whole problem with the universe is that fools and fanatics are always certain of themselves, but wiser people are full of doubt. |
