I accepted four identical courier contracts from Josameto to Jita (2 jumps) paying 30M per delivery. Each contract had a 1 billion collateral, so 4 billion total. I'll let you guys figure out from the screenshot whether I should actually complete delivery.

Sadly, I am unable to click on that.
I really wish I had AC's link guide handy
edit: found it
How to create a hyperlink by Amarr Citizen 155
Step 1: Copy the URL of the webpage you wish to link to.
Step 2: Type the text you wish to display in place of the URL. In some instances this might just be the hyperlink itself (as seen in the example at the bottom of this post).
Step 3: Select the text you just typed by placing the cursor in front of the first letter, holding down the shift key on your keyboard, and tapping the right arrow key on your keyboard until your text is highlighted with a light shade of blue (the color could differ depending on your computer specific settings).
Step 4: Click the icon that looks like a globe with a chain link on it. You should now be asked to enter the URL you want to link to. Your URL should still be ready to be pasted from step 1. You can use the shortcut keys CTRL + V on your keyboard or right mouse click (secondary mouse click for some, COMMAND + V for MAC users) and select the paste option.
Step 5: Click OK or hit your enter (return) key on your keyboard. You have now created a hyperlink to another webpage.
In the below example, replace the * with a [ and the # with ]. Doing so would give you the actual code created.

OK, think I made the link properly this time.
I'll save people the trouble of doing the math. It's 60 billion (that's with a 'B') ISK worth of megacyte assuming a sell price of 2600 per unit, 64 billion at a sell price of 2800. In case you've forgotten, there was a 4 billion collateral on all that megacyte.

I know you've been having some success with couriers for awhile now, but you really ought to buy a lottery ticket IRL with that kind of luck. |

That's what, 5.5 GTC at today's rates? Roughly $200 USD. **** it, if I found a courier goldmine like that as a new player I'd dump $200 in instantly.
That, literally, would be all you'd ever pay to play eve on 4 or more accounts until you got bored and quit the game.
Pro tip: it's the equivalent of $1.25 a month.

I don't think most people realize just how hugely profitable the ninja couriering business really is.
An abbreviated history of my time in EVE:
My first week of EVE I do mostly salvaging and ninja salvaging. Pay is pathetic. I notice that there are some nice reward courier contracts available, like 3M for 5 jumps, which seems like a lot when you only have 25M, but on a trial account you can't accept contracts or fly a hauler. So I pay the $20 and activate my account. That's been the only real-life ISK I've spent on the game.
ISK income for the first month or so is poor, maybe 20-40M a day salvaging while doing the occasional courier contract. I can't accept a lot of contracts because I lack the ISK for the collateral. At the time, I'm unaware that you can safely look inside courier packages, because when I asked in chat someone said it would fail the contract. It's not for a couple weeks after I start couriering that someone tells me that right-clicking a package and selecting Open is perfectly safe to do.
My first big score is a little over a month into the game. Even though I had been peeking inside packages, I hadn't found anything worth stealing until then. I accept a contract a few jumps out from Jita with a 8.5M reward and 400k collateral. When I accept the 394k m3 courier, I can't actually fly a freighter, but decide to risk it since worst-case it's only 400k down the drain. Turns out to be pretty much a full POS. True Sansha laser batteries, enormous stacks of isotopes and ozone and robotics. Tons of various arrays and what not. My take after selling all the contents: ~800M. A day or two later, I accept a 250M reward courier contract with a 200k collateral. 9 jumps from Amarr to Jita carrying 39 melted nanoribbons worth 190M at the time. Guess the guy didn't bother to read which field was the collateral and which was the reward. That one definitely got delivered. Along with the money I made from rewards from other contracts, I have enough money to pay for a PLEX and a freighter alt. I paid 1.5 billion ISK for a 4 million skill point freighter alt, which is fairly high on ISK/SP, but I was willing to spend extra because I desperately wanted to be able to do the large haul couriers. I was seeing some ridiculously good reward contracts, like 70M for 4 high-sec jumps to Amarr which I couldn't do because I had no freighter. Plus I wanted to be able to peek inside some of the huge m3 contracts with low collaterals and see if any of them were worth failing. So about 5 weeks into the game I have a 2nd account with a freighter alt on it.
Sidenote: I use the in-game notepad to keep links of every great contract I complete or fail, along with the amount I sold the contents for, but the recent 1.12 patch broke all the links so it makes it more difficult to recall everything since I'm too lazy to go through the contract histories of all my alts to find the contracts again.

(previous post continued...)
Soon after getting my freighter alt, I pick up a Parses to Jita package. Don't actually need a freighter for this one as it fits snugly inside a Bestower. 300M collateral but turns out to be over 800M inside. A few days after that, I pick up an Orca for only 50M collateral. Guess they forgot a zero. Other people just can't be bothered to check contract prices, like the guy who put 2 Navy Domis in a 600M collateral package when they're selling for 380M apiece. At the time, I'm still limited as to what I can accept because of a lack of ISK, but I steadily build up my money. Occasionally I hit dry spells were I don't find anything more then 50M under-collateralized for a week, and other times, like one particular weekend, where I make 900M on Friday, 800M on Saturday, and then 1.1B on Sunday, almost all of it from stealing. It all depends on luck and doing lots of contracts. I'd say I fail about 10-15% of the couriers I accept. I calculated that over a 10-day period around the beginning of my 2nd month, I was averaging 450M a day in the courier business.
Just over the past week, I've picked up a Drake for 1M collateral, a 3xCCC-rigged battleship (Megathron IIRC) for 10M I sold for 130M, a 1-jump shipment to Jita of dozens of cloaking devices undervalued by 60M, 21M worth of pyerite for 1000 ISK, and I'm sure plenty of others that I don't remember now. I had my biggest payday (until obviously this megacyte shipment) several days ago, when I accepted a 1.5 billion collateral package that had 3.18 billion inside. The morning of the megacyte, I accepted a courier to Jita to Hentogaira (11 jumps), 15M reward, 5M collateral. 175M worth of carrier drones and repair systems. Never even had to leave Jita to make a handsome profit.
In recent weeks I've also gone into the trading business, mostly T2 ships, to help supplement my income since ninja couriering isn't exactly steady income (though it averages out nicely). You can find some great deals if you look around, particularly in low-sec. I'd buy out all the great values in a region when I was passing through, and then collect the ships over the next few days when I passed nearby in my freighter doing courier contracts. I carry around my T2-cargo rigged covert ops transport in my Obelisk by making a private item exchange contract to an alt of the Viator, then the alt creates a private courier contract to my freighter char, which is accepted and promptly failed so as not to clutter my contracts window, and then I simply break open the package whenever I need my Viator. With a 11k m3 max capacity, it can safely move T2 cruisers out of low-sec back to my freighter which then lugs it the rest of the way to Jita.
Of the 20 or so billion ISK I made prior to this 60 billion megacyte contract, I'd say about 80-90% was made from stealing the contents of packages. When calculating whether it's worth pilfering a package, I almost always use the Jita buyer prices, except for NPC-sold skillbooks.
In conclusion, I'd like to make a special thanks out to the American education system, teaching our youngsters that 5 + 5 = 1. Without it, I wouldn't be the multibillionaire I am today.

Ermmm ... the cheer section does realise that this is theft, right? There is no difference between stealing from a courier contract and scamming a bond or loan. Yes, the mechanisms are there to place adequate collateral for courier contracts. But such mechanisms are also there for bonds and loans. If you want to say this is a legitimate tactic then you can't really criticise anyone for scamming an unsecured bond. After all, the investors could have only invested in secured bonds ...
tl;dr the people losing out here are suffering for their own mistakes. But their mistakes are mistakes because there are thieves who would take advantage of them.

He calls it ninja couriering. It's an apt description as it's entirely akin to ninja salvaging (i.e. expressly allowed by game mechanics but the people losing out call it stealing). I'm at a loss as to why you saw the need to make your post.
I believe the cheering is because this guy is taking advantage of the rich but stupid.

No, sir. Mistakes are mistakes cause people are sleeping on their keyboards. Scammers and courrier ninjas are like sharks in oceans, they eliminate weakened preys. Market is a giant experiment about natural selection. Thus, this guy is a hero, cause he oneshot some lazy trader, making more space for younger and more aggressive ones. -------------------------------- Fulbert. Miner - Industrialist |

It's confusing because this thread is in MD, home of the rich but stupid.
Usually you would expect this sort of post in C&P.
(but safe for the Technetium/PLEX threads MD seems to be pretty dead anyways)
