Its more than that. Retexturing and Rendering can be a painful process. They're adding BPC's BPO's to ORE facilites (Thats more work than you might think) you also have to make sure of the stats of the blueprints to be online with ships of that class. And in this case when creating a ship designed to take the place of destroyers it has to above all else be done right. To do everything they've done since they've announced (which wasnt all that long ago in terms of something like this) If they've got the thing ready to launch by November it's a pretty big deal. Jan's more in line with what i had been thinking for that ship to be honest.

So not only is the Noctis a dedicated salvage ship, but it also serves as a magic 8-ball when spun in the hangar?
Interesting choice, CCP. Not what I would have gone for as the role bonus, but it's certainly novel.

I wonder if there's anything substantial in the 1st 'release' which isn't actually bugfixes and some UI improvements??

The dev blog from CCP Zulu has the details.
In addition we are changing the real missiles used by fighter bombers into missile effects (it's mentioned in the dev blog as "fighter bomber missile visual effects changes", which is only a part of the story), which will be a huge anti-lag boost for large fleet fights. This should hopefully be the final nail in the coffin of the unholy trinity of Dominion lag (and if you guys would also stop using Drakes it would be really appreciated, kthxbye).
Then I talked to a lot of people on Friday to find out the status of the Noctis and it now looks likely that it will be included in the 1st release.

Originally by: CCP Zulu November release (Precursor?)
We have a few options for contained changes we can put out in a beefy mini-expansion in November that may include (but are not limited to):
* 80 new story line courier missions * Rocket balancing * Tech 2 ammo balancing * Adding faction ships to the market * Fighter bomber missile visual effects changes * Anti-aliasing support * Window resizing, camera offset * Meta-item indicator icons * UI optimization to contract delivery filtering * Cargo can now be dragged to hangar by dropping on Neocom * Toggling probes in overview * POS gunners now receive notifications about control towers under attack * Sorting deliveries according to distance in jumps or regional locations * Unique icons for Microwarpdrives and Afterburners
Rocket balancing!!!!!

I could rant here. I really could. But it isnt worth my time. CCP wants us to stop using the drake? Perform the nerf the entire game is expecting and relegate them to the Myrmidon's status as a useless battlecruiser.

Ummm, according to Chronotis, they are launching real missiles again. http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1401431&page=6#163 Or is it using missile damage calcs at launch now and not running missile flight simulations?

Will you eventually do the same thing for drones too?

And the rest of the missiles too. I mean why ask alliances to not use a perfectly good ship because of missile related lag when they could just apply the same fix to all missiles?

Ferox and Eagle are fine, it's hybrids in general that suck. Rails should be the highest damaging long ranged turrets like blasters are for short range (just about). I mean they suck to fit on any ship that uses them, they use both cap and ammo and they fail to hit the broad side of many barns as it is already, wheres the harm in actually wanting to give people a viable reason to fit them over tachs and 1400s?

No, I checked today and the fighter bombers will not be using real missiles anymore. Instead they will be using a damage effect and the visual effect will be like a missile. Originally the plan was to use a turret-like damage effect and damage calculations but after a review it was decided to go with a missile-like damage effect and damage calculations.

Maybe the same theory and practice could be used to 'fix' the Drakes... Just sayin...
