Dear CCP,
I would very much like for Spacemas the new shiney ORE ship, The Noctis. Any word on if it would be included in the November release with faction ships in the market and the ::gasp:: fix for rockets? Or will it be in the incursion patch/expansion with all the dirty sanshas?
I have been a very naughty boy this year and that is exactly what warrents great rewards in this coming Spacemas season.

We are deploying the work we have done since summer in 3 releases; the 1st one in late Nov, the 2nd one in mid Dec and the 3rd installment in mid to late Jan.
The 1st release contains a collection of player requests we have been working on alongside the main expansion features and that we could easily extract from the expansion code base.
The 2nd release is a Christmas surprise; new development we decided to dive into but something players have requested. The Christmas surprise will probably be delivered in two parts...
The 3rd release are then the main features of the expansion, including but not limited to the new Character Creation, the Incursion feature, and a big iteration in Planetary Interaction and EVE Gate.
The Noctis is going to be a part of the 3rd release.

Selective quoting and elementary logic fail, my dear.
To qualify for the 1st release it had to satisfy four conditions: be something (A) players had requested, (B) we had been working on since this summer, (C) that was ready for deployment now, and (D) we could easily extract from the expansion code base. The Noctis does satisfy (A) and (B) and (D) but not (C), but I'm going around asking people.

It's rocket science. And the model actually have been ready for, what like 6 months, just needs new textures since Primae..and just the new stats like you said.

Also, kudos on surprising the player base for Christmas. I hope the forum mods will be on that day though, for the troll posts on the day that it comes out .

I, for one, am disappointed that Incursion kept being suggested as "Coming out in November." It's not. I don't care very much that you're releasing some codefixes and a few nifty features that were thought of years ago and took this long to implement. I care that the game has progressed very little since Apocrypha came out. I care that the actual core content of an expansion is being released at the very least two months after it was "supposed" to.
I care that I'm not getting a Noctis salvaging ship, either, because I was really looking forward to that. Also, WTB sov structures that don't take 45 minutes for 75 battleships to kill.

I think you should get laid - honestly. In my opinion Incursion looks like a damn good expansion. And who cares how many years it took to implement, be happy that it's finally here. CCP can't grant everyones wishes.
Whine about micro-transitions instead. |

Rocket fix is the 2nd expansion, and the only thing in it :P
Serious guesses? T3 Frigates? (please!) T3 Modules? API for contracts? Different Icons for BPO/BPC? API for BPO/BPC ME/Stats? Sort by meta level? Corp/POS UI overhaul? POS Dead Horse suggestion? (OH PLEASE CHOOSE THIS ONE!)
There's so much to chose from!
Also, I've noticed the trend to, not just in this thread, of people going OMGWTF DELAYING RELEASE! We won't have it! New content NAOW! Just a month ago it was OMGWTF CCP! you release content before it's ready! EXCELLENCE FIRST!
Personally I think the people complaining about the later release date now are just trolling and should be banned from the forums. I'm among the group that's disappointing not to have a new salvaging ship ASAP, but I would rather see it released late then before it's ready. For those that didn't read the latest Dev Blog
Quote: But CCP delivers Two EVE Online expansions a year! That is our Deliver commitment. However, we also have a commitment to make them Excellent. In this case, we've chosen to Deliver parts of the expansion in November and December, and the two key features in January with Excellence to respect both commitments.
I don't think I've ever been happier with a single paragraph. While deadlines are important (see Duke Nukum Forever for examples of what happens when you don't have them), they shouldn't be an excuse for pushing out half-assed, half finished content. Keep things realistic, and most important, Excellence!

Its more than that. Retexturing and Rendering can be a painful process. They're adding BPC's BPO's to ORE facilites (Thats more work than you might think) you also have to make sure of the stats of the blueprints to be online with ships of that class. And in this case when creating a ship designed to take the place of destroyers it has to above all else be done right. To do everything they've done since they've announced (which wasnt all that long ago in terms of something like this) If they've got the thing ready to launch by November it's a pretty big deal. Jan's more in line with what i had been thinking for that ship to be honest.

The dev blog from CCP Zulu has the details.
In addition we are changing the real missiles used by fighter bombers into missile effects (it's mentioned in the dev blog as "fighter bomber missile visual effects changes", which is only a part of the story), which will be a huge anti-lag boost for large fleet fights. This should hopefully be the final nail in the coffin of the unholy trinity of Dominion lag (and if you guys would also stop using Drakes it would be really appreciated, kthxbye).
Then I talked to a lot of people on Friday to find out the status of the Noctis and it now looks likely that it will be included in the 1st release.

Originally by: CCP Zulu November release (Precursor?)
We have a few options for contained changes we can put out in a beefy mini-expansion in November that may include (but are not limited to):
* 80 new story line courier missions * Rocket balancing * Tech 2 ammo balancing * Adding faction ships to the market * Fighter bomber missile visual effects changes * Anti-aliasing support * Window resizing, camera offset * Meta-item indicator icons * UI optimization to contract delivery filtering * Cargo can now be dragged to hangar by dropping on Neocom * Toggling probes in overview * POS gunners now receive notifications about control towers under attack * Sorting deliveries according to distance in jumps or regional locations * Unique icons for Microwarpdrives and Afterburners

Ferox and Eagle are fine, it's hybrids in general that suck. Rails should be the highest damaging long ranged turrets like blasters are for short range (just about). I mean they suck to fit on any ship that uses them, they use both cap and ammo and they fail to hit the broad side of many barns as it is already, wheres the harm in actually wanting to give people a viable reason to fit them over tachs and 1400s?

No, I checked today and the fighter bombers will not be using real missiles anymore. Instead they will be using a damage effect and the visual effect will be like a missile. Originally the plan was to use a turret-like damage effect and damage calculations but after a review it was decided to go with a missile-like damage effect and damage calculations.

Yes and no. It's on our roadmap to take a look at missiles and what we did for the fighter bombers would serve as a template or a starting point but overhauling all missiles is both a huge balancing task and we would need to come up with solutions for smartbombs and their interaction with missiles.

I would imagine that changing missles as described would make it problematic for SBs to destroy missiles, so they would need to come up with a way to maintain that if possible, or somehow rebalace missiles.

Probably not, and I haven't seen anything other than the one Firewall video, but if that is indeed the only counter then it may be the next big strategy if larger alliances pick it up. Yea, that's a lot of if's and basically I admit I don't know what I'm talking about, but it does work, and changing that may break the only defense people see against them, causing emo rage and tears.
It'd be better for CCP to actually plan ahead and not jump right into this.

Maybe smart bombs shouldn't be the counter to missiles? (as in that should be thrown out the door altogether) Maybe something like more,... I don't know something to shoot them down? come on we could call them... I don't know, defender missiles?

I would imagine that changing missles as described would make it problematic for SBs to destroy missiles, so they would need to come up with a way to maintain that if possible, or somehow rebalace missiles.
They could make defender missiles to actually work ?
Oh and the patch sounds intriguing :)

Read from SC that SISI have new characters boxes with the option to use an auto-name generator and you also finally able to space out the middle name properly (e.g "Ivan The Terrible").
So do existing players get options to append a surname or petition a spacing change? |

I've been out of Eve for a while taking a break. So in coming back I needed to get updated on what is going on. Now I'm a beta guy, so I've seen CCP evolve as a company and our beloved EVE as our pleasant addition from the first days of Eve. I have to say that I cannot remember seeing so much feedback to the user community than what I'm seeing from CCP Explorer in this thread.
CCP and Explorer "Thank You!", for posting consistently with pretty good responses to user's questions. It's good to see and helps keep the anticipation going on the upcoming expansion releases.

Play it safe: expect to be disappointed by the "surprise" now so that if anything other than a high resolution image of Oveur's **** greets you at the login screen after the update you'll have reason to be merry this Christmas.
... Not that I'm saying some of us wouldn't think of that as an acceptable Christmas bonus anyway.

Highly doubt it. It takes months to model and texture something like that. Also, it's probably and most likely only going to the winner and not as a new ship for everyone. It would throw the balance completely out of whack, they would need to introduce 3 more Battleships. .................................................................. Yeah, sure. Did you ever use a 3D package to create something? I can tell you that an experienced modeller and artist will need roughly 2 weeks to get a ship from draft to fly around in space. At the same time another guy in game design can take care of the balancing. So you need around 5 people to get 4 new ships within 2 weeks.

Yeah, sure.. you might want to skill up on reading:
Originally by: DA:EVE - Create a Starship Contest The 1st Place winner will have their ship added to the premiere space MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game), EVE Online where countless pilots will build and fly the winners' creation.
Source: http://news.deviantart.com/article/128272/ 'countless' = everyone that want's.. not just some in between
Also, CCP will create the 3 missing ships for Amarr, Caldari and Gallente or the design moves into one of the factions, that don't have a BS yet or can use one more. Where is your fantasy? New Eden needs a Public Feature/Idea/Bug-Tracker |

As for the modeling and texturing comment, that was based on CCP's own words back when people wanted the Naglifar changed to have an additional turret on the model. :/
You gotta think, their resources are used up and things get planned way ahead of time.

It can be easier than you think. They can introduce it as a faction prize for the next tournament that is unlikely imho or they can use it as new model for Tempest/Maelstorm.
