I've seen references in passing to ISK value of LPs. Is it possible to trade ISK for LPs? If so, how does one do that? [Resolved: That any further use of the term "YARR!" will result in loss of 100 million skill points and confinement to a newbie ship for one year.] |

E.g. 10m isk + x LP at LP store -> item that sells on the market for 20m isk. You just found a LP selling rate of 10m isk/x LP |

The only way to get isk for your LP is to get something with it and then put it on contracts.
There are some players out there who will buy your LP from you, but they do that by giving you items to trade for something they want from the LP store, and then paying you an agreed isk value for the LP you sent. Or some variation of this process that minimizes risk to each of you.
There is no direct isk to LP conversion, and the numbers people give are extrapolations of what they use their LP to sell on the market. (And most people have no idea how to properly value their LP, even when they're spitting numbers about it.)

A mechanic for selling LP directly for isk would be nice. Suggestion: Remove the "new topic" button from everywhere apart from the list of topics section within a subforum.
That'd save those with chronic hand/eye coordination some face. |

It would...but it'd also defeat the purpose of LP in the first place, which is to drain isk from the economy.
(Even if it still increases the wealth in the economy...)

Not in the manner I mean. As it stands I have to figure out how to spend my LP. If we could sell LP to other players, who then figure it out, no new isk would be generated. It would (a) save missioners work in figuring out what to spend LPs on, and (b) create a niche job, i.e. people can investigate the market, and find out what stuff's hot, then buy LP from people. You can sell LP directly by sharing the mission reward with the other player in a fleet. They just send you the money afterward/before/whatever. Some risk involved, but not much.
Oh yeah, about my sig... you have now read it.

This just makes you sound realllllly lazy. Do a little research and its easy to figure out what to grab with you lp to make the most profit.

I won't argue about that. You should see the amount of LP I have ;p Suggestion: Remove the "new topic" button from everywhere apart from the list of topics section within a subforum.

I always thought it would be interesting if LP could be put on the market. Kind of like a stock market/ commodities market for LP.
Never really given too much thought to it though. I'm guessing there are reasons it doesn't exist.

I've started just burning my LPs on Caldari Navy missiles. Heavy missiles and cruise missiles, EM and kin types.
I suppose if I get back into frigates or similar eventually, I'll also start spending LPs on Caldari Navy standard missiles and maybe rockets.
The trick is to have a large supply of non-CN misisles in the hangar, in one's mission station. IIRC it's 5000 units exhanged at a time, so have them in multiples of 5000.

When people gain a large number of LP with a given corporation (i.e. millions of LP), they'll sometimes go onto the sell forum and offer to sell those LP for a set price per LP, all in one go. Basically, a buyer can pick which items he wants from that corporation's LP Store, he'll supply and extra ISK / items / tags to cover additional costs for the items and then the person selling the LP will cash in the items for that person.

This is usually done to raise standing with the corp. But sometimes the LP has considerable value in itself (particularly, for pirate corps).
