Just to be clear, http://lperegrine.deviantart.com/art/Sansha-s-Hellhound-182608966 would be a legal entry?

Originally by: Linna Excel Cassus, it would be good to consider for future use at least. Some of the ship designs I've seen in EVE would be a little in drawing form without using extra drawings for some of the intricate/hidden areas. An .obj file would be something for them to look at in 3d and get a good idea of what was going on. It'd be in scale and easy to work with.
BTW, there are free 3d art programs out there.
What free 3D art programs might there be? I have some ideas i think are good and i would like to build on.

I used Google Sketchup for the Lammergeier but it doesn't have an inbuilt renderer but you can export the different windowed views as jpeg etc at whatever resolution you want... and then you can paint over the shaded 7th view in a program like GIMP (though I have Photoshop Elements 7 so I'm happy using that).
You could try using Blender for your 3d but I couldn't get the thing to work on my Windows 7 64 bit system

Thanks for clearing that up Spitfire.
Wings, blender and maybe silo (I think) allow for 3d modeling and are free.

Originally by: CCP Spitfire Hello everyone,
To answer some of your questions:
Q. Are 3D models rendered in line view for the 6 views acceptable? A. Yes.
Q. Is having darkened areas to show depth acceptable? A. Yes, as long as you provide 6 clear views of the ship plus a color render.
Q. Are plain grayscale renders of a 3D model allowed? A. Yes, but the renders should show detail clearly.
Hope that helps.

I love the detail on Peregrine and the stylings of Sinister are very cool. I'd love to be flying Peregrine around lol.
I also really liked the ships Fujin and Lammergeier.

Is there a link to where we can see ships that are already submitted? Or is the gallery not going to open until after the 21st?

This facebook thing is a real turn off. I foresee a Like-spammage with little or no connection to beautiful artwork.
Anyway, I am in the process of reworking my old submission that can be found here. Added some textures and yada yada and now looks like this.
I'll probably drop the whole comic thing as it was not only semi ugly but also possibly a rule breaker. An isk for your thoughts?

I really like it, it looks great and yeah I'd drop the comic thing for submisssion ;)
My Critique: The style doesnt really seem Amarr to me. To me it looks like a mixture of Caldari with minmatar solar panels and some Amarr aspects and amarr paintjob. I think if you want to get past the first selection you need to adhere more to certain style conventions of the races, for example only Minni ships use solar panels afaik. ___________________________________

Thanks for the critique! It's supposed to be a Minmatar cruiser reinforced with stolen Amarr plates. But it might deviate too much from that aswell... I'll see if I can maybe add a more Matari touch to it. =)

I would suggest that even if it's preferred to have a public vote open to non-players, it would be a good idea also to do a player-only vote, perhaps using the forum voting method used for the recent crowdsourcing. If it's secondary to the official contest, maybe include some modest in-game rewards for the winner(s).
Additionally, it looks like (if a Facebook account is needed for voting) you will want to include a mechanism to allow Eve players who do not wish to create one to vote.

My impression was that we won't see anything until they select the semi-finalists. Bit odd that there wasn't an 'entry successfully submitted' page or email, though.

Originally by: Dragunov Vio when i see some of the designs of these ships, the understanding of spaceflight dynamics that i have yells out " YOUR DOING IT WRONG" ships must be centrally balanced, or compensated by thrust, half the ships in eve would either subtly fly in a curve rather then straight, or curve around rapidly and lose the plot.
but then my awesome detector goes "OMG INTERNET SPACESHIPS!!!1!"
Newton doesn't apply to Eve.
And as much as I love the Caldari Battleship, the fact that it is symmetrical really bugs me.

I have to disagree. There are too many non symmetrical ships in the game, it's cool... but it gets old after a while.

Its all well and good most of the designs are warships but has anyone concidered doing up a design for a 100K CU Freighter. It may not be glorious but it would be the most usefull ship I could see being added. We have warships aplenty but a medium weight frieghter with some medium and low slots is what an industrialist like me would like to see.
