Quote: Mass-mirroring Wikileaks
Wikileaks is currently under heavy attack.
In order to make it impossible to ever fully remove Wikileaks from the Internet, we need your help.
if you have a unix-based server which is hosting a website on the Internet and you want to give wikileaks some of your hosting resources, you can help!
Please follow the following instructions:
* Setup an account where we can upload files using RSYNC+SSH (preferred) or FTP * Put our SSH key in this server or create an FTP account * Create a virtual host in your web server, which, for example, can be wikileaks.yourdomain.com * send the IP address of your server to us, and the path where we should upload the content. (just fill the form below)
We will take care of all the rest: Sending pages to your server, updating them each time data is released, maintaining a list of such mirrors. If your server is down or if the account don't work anymore, we will automatically remove your server from the list.
Our content is only html/css/javascript/png static files, so we don't require much resource to host it.
The complete website should not take more than a couple of GB at the moment (with base website and cablegate data)

Espionage is a violation of a law in the US and the guy is/was an Australian living in Sweden so the 1st amendment doesn't apply.
And I'm pretty sure CCP doesn't want that kind of political site linked here

Geez, you people had to drag legal microscope into this.
It is far more simple. Mr. Assange has an agenda. Apparently he did not realize that other people have agendas too. Now we will see whose agenda has more support.
So. Drop all the legal terms and definitions. This is simple team sport. Him vs. us.

Thats what i think. Americans have a double standard for 'freedom'. You have freedom aslong you do what your US overlords want you to do.
I am not a fan of Wikileak but i see that the USA starts to fight against the free world.

State sponsored terrorism is tricky tool and in this particular case is probably unnecessary. One estimate I have read said that only 10% of documents in this latest batch is secret stuff. The rest is just confidential, the sort of stuff that everyone knows, but does not mention in polite conversation.
I am reminded of 60 Minutes report about Ikea in Russia. In the report former CEO said that when they ran into problems in Russia, they wanted to meet with Putin, they were told that the fee is 20 mil USD. This latest release of Wikileaks is full of stuff like that.

I really cant back my government(USA) in their fight against him. the amount of effort they are putting into this shows they have lots of dirt they want to keep hidden. and the most desired to never be seen dirt is usually things that should never have happened in the first place.

You really do not need to back US government. There is so much dirt in the cables, that plenty of other governments around the world will take care of things.
Just take Russians for example. Regular intimidation and execution of their own journalists. Assassinated that dude in England a few years ago with, get this, radioactive poison! I mean wow! Stuff right out of Ian Fleming novels.

I still dont really understand why it is apparently so good that someone leaked secret information that doesnt benefit us in any way but only ruins the effort of diplomats and causes unrest. Really the goal of peace in middle east doesnt come closer when you tell Iran that the Saudis rather see Iran as a big light emitting parking lot.
I am all for the exposure of stuff like torture, Elvis still alive, ET locked in area 51, or Elvis torturing ET in area 51. But this is information that should not have been published, only reason it is, is that Assange is apparently an attention ***** or he has a personal vendetta against the US and i wouldnt want to have that crap on my servers.
So what seems reasonable to me: The person who leaked it should get anywhere between 10 years jail to life sentence, you must have a pretty good reason to leak state secrets, and just randomly uploading hunderds of thousands of documents is not a pretty good reason.
Assange is declared persona-non-grata in the US. In the end i dont think the broke any laws, but that doesnt mean you have to welcome the person who is publishing your secrets on a massive scale. A nice added touch might be if the CIA registers wikileaks2.com and starts uploading confidential data of whichever country assange is in at that moment. Assange should all be in favour of that, if he isnt a hypocrite.
