Originally by: Ehrghiez I've noticed that in several topics with plenty of productive out comes, it never ends up that way. I see more bashing and completely unproductive replies than something of use.
Its not so much of a surprise to see people disrespect one another simply because they have the internet and a keyboard, but I've noticed that its far greater within the Eve community than most I have been a part of. Most, not all.
Seriously? I would consider the banter that plays on these forums (along with perhaps EQ2Flames) is the best you can get on MMO-related sites. The only time I've seen people REALLY laid into here is when they come across as a rampant f*cktard.
The HUGE positive to take away from this however is that these forums have got to be by far the best developer hosted site out there. The moderation is entirely reasonable compared with some of the more draconian examples out there. -----

I'm not speaking of in-game terms, just the forums. I am sure in-game is just as bad if not worse. I haven't experienced it within the game as of yet.
Dude, you got it from me in that learning skills thread because you had a faulty premise, a terrible not needed 'solution' and bad facts. You had pretty much everything you could get wrong in a debate, wrong. And then you got indignant and left the thread.
I'd be looking in the mirror if I were you and not get so defensive when people prove that you are incorrect.
And to top it all off you had to come running here whining about people's attitudes.

I think the STO forums prior to its release were hard to beat from the shear entertainment value they offered.
When you get fanbois that will argue that everything is fine when it clearly is not (as in the case of STO) against those who feel they have been short changed in some way. Then the resulting posts can be quite funny. If you are just looking in without getting involved.

Eve forums are buy far the worst for trolling that I've come across. In the past few years I've met alot of people in-game that wont view or post in this forum because of all the trolls, If moderators would step up and issue 48hr bans to posters that are rude and insulting to others, It would be a great start towards really cleaning this place up.

Depends really on which board you go to. GD/S&I/Mission/Ships/Warfare are p chill(in comparison to other MMO forums) with it being some whines and trolling but not much. CAOD and C&P are both probably the ****hole of these forums where all the trolling and flames are at.

Majority of the people on these forums seem to be two-bit trolls, ******ed, people with aggression issues and maybe one or two people who can actually have a civilized discussion without posting off topic one liners, dumb personal attacks and 4 chan memes.

Disagreeing with you isn't necessarily being disrespectful. I, for instance, completely disagree with your premise.
Calling you an arrogant ignorant know-it-all, now that would be disrespectful. In some cases, disrespect is deserved.
Notice, however, that no matter what my instincts tell me, I refrained from doing that? There you go: evidence that your generalization of the community may be false.

Of course, being stupid and not realizing it is all part of the package of being stupid.
If you post stupid things and people call them stupid and explain to you why they are stupid and your response is to whine about the general attitude of the EVE community - chances are you are stupid.
Look at frogout here. He corners the market on ECM stupidity and he is agreeing with you.
Not good.

I've been depressed and surly since I found out my avatar will have to be changed to accomodate the new character-generation system.
This is my third character, and I finally achieved perfection and now....he will be lost forever.
So realize that a lot of trolls are working through personal problems that spill over into forum postings.....
