Professor Tarantula Hedion University	Posted - 2010.12.07 20:45:00 - [1] This image has recently been making the rounds in game, and seems to be something from multiplicity. There's lots of very interesting things about that picture, most of them pretty cool, however one thing casts a dark shadow over it: in the lower left, "Plex Credit". You've all said you're ok with PLEX being used for vanity items, but did you think it would go this far? And certainly, ib4tl. And i'll probably be taking a little forced break from posting. I still don't like the idea of any kind of "PLEX Credit" either, but I also dislike reading into stuff before it's been released/announced. Who knows how it's going to change or what's going to happen. Now, by all means, let the threadnaught continue (at least until CCP Adida finds it )

You have noticed the part about: Customization - lights (interior, exterior) - engine trail - base paint (primary, secondary)- damage - rust, ecc. ? It is exactly what it was proposed by the CSM: plex for vanity items. You customize how your ship look and you pay in plex.

It was directly mentioned by some dev at some point, custom paintjobs as vanity items, so yes, I did think it could go this far, but I hoped not. It is certainly sad that it would, though. That is dev time invested in something that will be paid in addition to what we pay now but stolen from dev time paid with regular subs. Also I hate being charged on top of a subscription fee that is certainly not among the cheapest ones in the industry, is EVE in such bad shape that this is needed for it's survival? Is EVE failing as a business? If not, there is certainly not a single valid reason for this to happen (outside of greed). We are already paying a substancial fee, is it needed for us to pay more?

Photoshop ruined that for me The UI up on the right looks like that of the old Character creator before it was polished up (the wheel of colour specifically lookin' like the wheel of hair colours. The "Ship Customisation" bit on the left, the bit under that, is from the new Character creator also as you go through the stages it moves to the next circle thingy. Nice shop though and a worthy troll for once

Alternately, these are real screenshots of works in progress, and he had a meltdown over stuff that he thought should be free that was only going to be available as part of microtransaction deals. Assuming they could be sold on the market, each would cost 360 isk, and 1800 plex credits would be 648,000 isk. Making my ship look cool for less than a million isk? Maybe.....
