Hi folks ~ I've been playing EVE since last July after being referred by a co-worker that played for 7 years but quit a few months ago. I'm actually about to quit playing as I can find little to do anymore. If anyone can suggest anything it would be appreciated as I did used to enjoy the game daily.
~ Mining isn't for me. I figured out how to make ISK by using the market and can make enough in 2-3 days to buy a PLEX so I did reach free play. ~ While my skillpoints are at 7mil every single Corporation I had applied to (about 30) simply denied my request to join with no explanation. ~ I started my own corp and have invited friends from College. Every one of them quit in the 1st month claiming it was too hard because the learning skills take so long. ~ At this point there's really nothing to look forward to because the skill training time takes too long. A week to learn Interceptors to get a Crow? Nah. That's crazy and too boring to wait for. ~ I can fly a Covert Ops cloaked Buzzard and scan out pockets very easy. Problem is that the best ones are on 0.0 and there's no way to get anything but a Buzzard in and out, so no way to transport rare ores. ~ Trained for a Stealth Covert Ops Bomber only to find out they can only be used in 0.0 so that was a worthless waste of time. ~ Have ran a lot of missions but lately I can not find any agents to work for. I read that the newest release had a lot more missions but I can't find them anywhere near where I dock (Jita 4-4). ~ Raising my security status is insanely hard. I can sit around in 0.5 space and blow up rats all day long in my Caldari Navy Issue Hookbill with Rockets (yes, Rockets!) but my security status only goes up by like 0.04 for 15 minutes of kills? If a 5.0 security status would be considered $5, that means I am making a quarter of a penny per rat kill? So I would have to destroy 2000 of the things to get to 5.0 Security status? I don't think so, another wastre of time and boring. The salvage loot is only worth what I can make on the market in less than 1 minute of price changes...
So, am I missing anything?
As far as "Give me all your stuff" nope. I've tried to give all of my ships to real friends, but they don't even keep playing for a month. If I do quit I'll just give everything away at Jita, which seems to be a fun idea actually. But it kinda sucks to have spent so long playing only to discover that there's not anything apparently fun to do.
Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks.

Eve is pretty dull yes. I like dull things and it beats WoW.
However, if you can make a plex in 2 or 3 days; then get your mad trading skills on and buy a specced char from the char bazaar.
assuming 1 plex in 3 days then 360mil * 10 = 3.6bil in one month or 7.2 bil in 2 months; you could buy a decked out combat pilot faster then you could skill on up?
Personally, I just like to pi and invent as I don't have the time with wife and kids for playing like I used to. This style of play is the only MMO accessible to me these days; also I can visit the forums at work. I just don't have the 5+ hours to sink into a game each day anymore and eve caters for that.

First, if you need a corp, mine is hiring and you meet the requirements for it easily.
Next, your friends want instant gratification and on the 15th learning skills get removed so feel free to mock them.
As for interceptors thing, dude a week is nothing try waiting 3 months to get all the skills for a marauder =P
- cov ops bomber and ship - You can use a bomber anyplace, only the bomb launcher is in 0.0, it is still a great glass cannon which can be used in low sec.
-> Mission - LEAVE JITA 4-4. Try eve-agents.com to find an agent near you, but you need to leave jita forever.
Sec status, if you want to pirate / pvp / gank, you need to get the social skill book, connections skill book and fast talk skill book. those will help raise your sec status higher.
Honestly I dont know why people wouldnt take you, the ability to use a bomber and bomb launcher is a great asset to any 0.0 alliance.

I agreee. Mining does suck. That is why I have a second account that mines while my main account does other things. that doesn't mean there aren't fun things you can do.
As far as the corps you are trying to join but keep rejecting you. It seems you are trying for those 'popular" ones or the ones that are huge and well established in a system. Might need to set your sights lower. Look in the recruitment forum and see what is there or post your interest in joining a corp and what you are looking for.
Yes, the learning skills were a pain, but tell your mates the learning skills are going away in a few days. Maybe they will come back.
There are hundreds of agents to fly for. I can't believe you can't find one to fly for. You maky have to choose a different NPC corp to fly for...which may mean you will have to start over with lvl 1 agents and work your way up. Attaining 5.0 status isn't hard to do. Takes time though. The higher level mission you do, the faster it goes up. Belt rats aren't the only way to raise standings either. Doing missions and getting the storylines will do it as well...and possibly even faster as the storylines affect multiple factions.
Don't knock salvage. Granted salvage in lvl 1 and 2 missions are pretty crappy, the salvage still adds up. Lvl 3 and 4 missions aren't bad at all.
Don't give up yet. There are some nice changes made recently and more to come.

I still don't get why someone who was getting bored would have kept training the learning skills to begin with instead of taking a couple months to train some frigate and cruiser skills up to functionable levels.
If you had perception and intelligence to 4-3 and the others just to 3-0 you might have "wasted" a month of potential training in the first 3 months but you would have had plenty more to do...
..and you play games for fun... by the time you quit or lose interest you won't be thinking ... wow, I could have had 1 million more sp if I had trained learning skills a month earlier ...the same way you wouldn't have thought ...."wow, i wish i had started the game a month earlier so I could have had 1 million more sp when i quit today"

You need to go try shooting at other players. Maybe it'll be the spark to keep you playing. Try it.
PS whoever told you bombers can only be used in 0.0 is an idiot. Bombs can only be used in 0.0 but fitting a bomb launcher means you compromise other parts of the fit. Simply fitting torpedo launchers is a lot easier and actually results in more DPS. Bombs are all about alpha damage rather than sustained damage.

First my question is why the hell do you want a 5.0 sec status? You do realize that other than access to hi-sec that sec status doesn't do anything?
Anything over -2.0 is fine for high sec life. If you mission somewhat consistently and are not pirating/suicide ganking then you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
If you got isk to burn try RVB, We always want more pilots (particularly rich ones who won't whine when they loose a ship) and have pretty much 0 requirements (IOW we won't reject your app.
The problem you are facing is that unlike most MMO's EVE does not have any predefined career paths. It really is a very open system. The unfortunate side affect of which is that lots of people end up in your shoes with no real idea what to do. So pick something new and try it.
I highly recommend RVB I originally joined planning on spend a month or so getting a little seasoning. That's turned into over 6 months of almost straight PVPing and a directorship in what I consider one of EVE's most unique institutions.
I didn't join planning on moving into a leadership position it just worked out that way. That's the sort of thing that can happen in EVE.
Another upside to doing a run through RVB is that it will provide you not only with PVP experience but with some killboard stats that people can look at when considering your app. While many people downplay the importance of Killboard stats the reality is that it is a major part of your resume (particularly if you are apping to PVP centric corps).
As it stands now you've got a negative K/D ratio. assuming you've been apping to PVP centric corps it's little wonder that people have been denying your apps.
Hell you've already figured out the hardest part about EVE, how to fund your fun. now it's time for you to start having some.

If you're making a plex every three days, you can afford to have a lot of fun in this game. Buy +5 implants and once the +12 attributes buff starts you'll train skills very quickly. After or during the skill-training, buy a pimped out PvP ship with this 360m per 3 days you're making. PvP is fuel for fun.

Buy and use 3 plex on main, keep skilling up and take a break from the game. Just log in to fill skill queue. You dont have to give all your stuff away or anything silly.

I'm honestly doubtful this is a recoverable situation but what the hell...
- Go for mining if you have something to watch on TV or some reason that you can't put full attention on the game.
- Corps will insta-reject applications that come out of the woodwork. Join the recruitment channel (you'll find it in your Chat Channels list) and initiate conversations. The channel often sees adverts from hiring corporations.
- Run into a low-sec system and destroy someone!

- Your learning skills will be reimbursed in the patch coming at the end of the month. Since you got a bit of time to spare, finish those up (to get raw SP faster) and when the patch comes in, invest the reimbursed SP in the ships and modules you want to use.
- Waiting a week to fly a tech 2 frigate is common. T2 frigs are in almost all aspects more powerful than their T1 variants. 2 weeks for cruiser, 3 weeks for BC, 4 weeks for BS.
- Do not expect to ever max yourself out. The skills system is designed in such a way to push you to specialize in some shape or form. Flying the biggest and scariest ships in the game is intended to take months, and are expected to be flown only by a handful of pilots who represent the pinnacle of an alliance's achievement.
- Run to wormhole space. Try to stay alive as long as you can. Remain there a few days or two, find another wormhole and then see where it leads you.
- Take chances, make mistakes and get messy.

Hi Julian - Thanks for the suggestion. I looked up the corp you suggested to find that you are not a member and even your EVELeaks site is not working.
Seems to be the EVE Doom in progress here. Nothing to do, dead links. Actually in truth it's called Entropy which I am generally a fan of. Just sucks to see a game that had so much potential with well, nothing to do.

Thank you kindly for your reply. I did not know that I could buy a character. I see them on eBay every day (search EVE paperclip on eBay) but did not know CCP allowed buying a character.
I can afford it no problem but is seems like cheating and degrades the value of the character I created.
It seems that this extremely long training skill stupid bull**** that CCP has set up is what is destroying what could be a good game.
I don't want to just go buy a character. But excuse me, where are they for sale again? :)
Thanks

Thank you kindly for your response. I checked your Corp and can not join as I am a Caldari. You have the best Security rating of anyone I have seen and congrats on that. You can not top 5.3.
As far as my friends wanting "instant gratification" that's not actually correct. I invited a group of people from the Texas A&M University and every single one of them said that the game was a money sink hole because training Learning to Learn was a waste of time so every single one of them quit during the trial.
The CoVert Ops Bomber is useless as with the core drain you can't fit any weapons. So yeah, you can fly around invisible no problem, but you can't do anything.
Your reply was the kindest and trying to be the most helpful and I appreciated it.

Anyway, just wanted to know if there is _ANYTHING_ at all fun that people can do in this game.

Hey thanks.
There is no way on God's Earth that I am going to mine, as stated I can make $300 mil ISK a day.
Maybe that is the problem and perhaps I have actually "won"?
I just wanted to see other aspects of the game. Seems there are none available to me.
So, I can make so much ISK that I play free. What now?
I see nothing to do in this game.

-Learning skills are being removed next week, bring your friends back (now they will all train as if they had maxed learning) -you can do some solo PVP with frigates or cruisers (not SP extensive) -find guys that WILL let you join, usually this work best when you try to kill them in low sec then they go "hmm you got spunk, come fly with us" -You miss understand the sec grind mechanics, you only get credit for the biggest rat you kill per 15-20 min (not sure on time frame), this means you were only getting credit for one. The good news is that this rule applies per system so if u fly to 15 systems and kill one rat each you'll gain sec 15 times faster -EVE is a sandbox and it is what you make it, if you sit waiting for the paint to dry then thats all it'll ever be, try doing other things so that by the time the paint IS dry you'll be like "wow that went fast" -for mission try looking up the mission/agents area of this guide and use the info their in combination with this to find ones nearby -stealth bombers are still great in places other than 0.0, just use torps
and as i saw someone else say, use your awesome money from marketing to get some implants to train faster, train cyber 5 once and load in a set of +5s

Hey thanks for your suggestions.
I have Cybernetics up to L4. But to get to L5 it says that it will take 28 days. That is total complete bull**** and there is no way that I am going to "train" some "skill" for 28 days. I will have lost interest in the game in that month. And the learning skills take so long that you don't even remember what they were for. Now I see why EVE is failing.
I loved this game so much because the graphics are so beautiful, but unfortunatly I have a limited amount of time, skill training takes way, way too long and I am just not going to play that.

Originally by: Xercodo -Learning skills are being removed next week, bring your friends back (now they will all train as if they had maxed learning) -you can do some solo PVP with frigates or cruisers (not SP extensive) -find guys that WILL let you join, usually this work best when you try to kill them in low sec then they go "hmm you got spunk, come fly with us" -You miss understand the sec grind mechanics, you only get credit for the biggest rat you kill per 15-20 min (not sure on time frame), this means you were only getting credit for one.

Its not EVEs fault you can't take only a year out of 27 to train the basic skills newbie, EVE isn't making you train all of them for 1.3/3 of your life. Just only one year then you can train a spaceship command skill.

If waiting for skill training is your main problem and you can afford a plex every 2-3 days you can make a sum to purchase already trained character here: Character Bazaar
Originally by: Keith Deteisrich ~ While my skillpoints are at 7mil every single Corporation I had applied to (about 30) simply denied my request to join with no explanation.
Corps usually reject random in-game apps. If you haven't had an interview with one of their recruiters or tried to contact CEO or a director in corp at least to have a chat first, then of course you'd get rejected. Here is recruitment forum, try talking or pm'ing recruiters first and applying if recruiter invites you.
Originally by: Keith Deteisrich ~ I started my own corp and have invited friends from College. Every one of them quit in the 1st month claiming it was too hard because the learning skills take so long.
Learning skills will be removed soon (Dec 14th) may be you can re-invite your friends then.
Originally by: Keith Deteisrich ~ I can fly a Covert Ops cloaked Buzzard and scan out pockets very easy. And what's wrong with 0.0? You can take your stealth bomber, go lurk around a bit see if you can find a gate camp to bomb. There are many stealth bomber guides written and posted on this forum as well as YouTube videos on how to pvp in them.
Originally by: Keith Deteisrich ~ Raising my security status is insanely hard. I can sit around in 0.5 space and blow up rats all day long in my Caldari Navy Issue Hookbill with Rockets (yes, Rockets!) but my security status only goes up by like 0.04 for 15 minutes of kills?
If you pvp in 0.0 space or in a wardec then you don't lose security status. Try out factional warfare perhaps. You can sell your character also and let someone else raise its sec, make some money via trading, combine it and buy yourself a better skilled pilot with positive sec status.

-The game isn't failing, to you personally it might be but subscription numbers keep growing (see the latest quarterly economic newsletter) and have been since EVE started in 2003 -What do you mean "limited amount of time"? are you going to die in the next 6 months or something? If you mean play time in a day then that doesn't effect the skill system at all, it trains whether your logged in or not -Regardless of the two points above, I can see that this just isn't a game for you. It takes a lot of patience but we all did it too and you don't see us complaining, we relish in watching the timer count down, it's like waiting for Christmas every time :P And we busy ourselves with activities while we wait. That's the beauty of the system, you don't have to grind up the progression of your character, and in fact that's the whole point of other games. This game lets you do whatever the hell you want while your character progresses. If you have nothing to do, then your doing something wrong
And don't take rejected corp applications too personally, quite a few of them have strict rule on who they let in or not. Simply find one that isn't as strict or take the route of making them like you enough that they make an exception (obviously easier said then done ik)

Well...
I can tell you that I consider Eve as an "alongside" game. I play other games while my Eve skills run alongside and I log in whenever I feel like it and do stuff. What you want is instant gratification and action. Eve is meant to be played for a longer time and over time you should have developed an idea what you want to do and achieve in this game. Some people play this purely as a economic simulation, others want to kill as much people as possible, many just play casually and do their missions and other pve stuff.
However this game is not like WoW or other mmo's where you log in and have a questline to follow or a raid in a specific instance to get better items or stuff like that. You are supposed to make your own goals there. If you cannot come up with a goal for you or find the possibilities boring which this game has to offer (and it offers a lot) then you are wrong there as you already recognized probably. Edited by: Chuc Morris on 09/12/2010 10:03:14 I'm playing since almost same time than you and to be honest i understand quite well what you mean.
You train to train things absolutely time useless and for months like learning: "learn to learn" wauuuuu Then you start missioning and there you go, but once you're at lvl4 and that you've done 999¦ times the same missions you cant do lvl5 or is just like throw you isk in little cans and name them "free candies".
Pvp? well looks like the first one who brings two rr is the winner, can't find this interesting or amazing, nothing compared with the concept of big fleets and big fights.
Atm i still play because i made my self a few palls over here and that they play at same time zone. We are all in npc corps because we didn't found anything interesting than "give your api and how much you have in your wallet", dam those guys are psychopaths or mad about "spies"
Still looking the fun for a few times but certainly running in the same direction than you, stop throwing money out the window for a game with a great potential but where is nothing fun to do or the only things to do every one claims being "ultra fun" are mining scaming or ganking.

Most corps don't accept random applicants - look for corps actively recruiting or start chatting to people in-game.
(Likewise alliances won't accept applications from random corps)
Originally by: Keith Deteisrich ~ I started my own corp and have invited friends from College. Every one of them quit in the 1st month claiming it was too hard because the learning skills take so long.
As already said, those are being removed soon - invite them all back.
Originally by: Keith Deteisrich ~ At this point there's really nothing to look forward to because the skill training time takes too long. A week to learn Interceptors to get a Crow? Nah. That's crazy and too boring to wait for.
Huh why sit and wait? You play the game whilst skill training happens in the background. You can switch between skills as much as you like - so run the long-term goals when you don't have a quick-win short-term goal.
Originally by: Keith Deteisrich ~ I can fly a Covert Ops cloaked Buzzard and scan out pockets very easy. Problem is that the best ones are on 0.0 and there's no way to get anything but a Buzzard in and out, so no way to transport rare ores.
Look for NPC controlled null-sec, not PC controlled null-sec. Yes it can be hard to get ships in and out, but if you have ISK to burn - so what if you lose a few?
Originally by: Keith Deteisrich ~ Have ran a lot of missions but lately I can not find any agents to work for. I read that the newest release had a lot more missions but I can't find them anywhere near where I dock (Jita 4-4).
Dock somewhere else. I've based myself out of 4 different regions in 18 months playing the game.
Fast Talk (if you don't already have the skill) allows you to raise sec status quicker. Once you're positive though there's little extra to gain.
Originally by: Keith Deteisrich So, am I missing anything?
Yes lots. What interests you?
Do you want to get into PvP? My best suggestion - which has already been suggested is to go join RvB, whilst they don't actually directly teach PvP you can pick up a lot from being in the corp and taking part.
Eve University does teach about all aspects of Eve, and whilst some of it may not be that interesting, they do run some PvP-based stuff.
Finally there are other corps and alliances that run PvP training courses. You pay them, and they'll take you out and show you the basics.
Do you want more PvE content? Try scanning in low-sec the sites are better with a medium level of risk. Again PvP will happen in low-sec so I'd suggest that at least learning some basics will help you avoid trouble even if you don't want to fight.

Get yourself out to 0.0 there are plenty of corps out there that will hire you.I would. Empire is for suckers leave it as soon as possible you might also consider wormholes they put a whole new slant on the game and require a completely different mindset. eve is a slow burn time intensive game i'm afraid.I have been going at it for 5 years and still find new and interesting stuff to do everyday sometimes i sit and think goddamn i am bored then something else comes along a new ship a new set of idiots moving into local space that require blowing up etc.
Don't give up on it it really is the most fulfilling game out there if you just be patient and have the mindset that you won't get everything right away.
RvB and factional warfare are fun for the quick reaction fast fix pvp if you want something a little more meaningful move out to 0.0.
gimme a call i'll fly with ya :P

Keith,
Sounds like you've made up your mind about Eve already, and just want to vent your frustration. I hope I'm wrong, though. Tbh, I've yet to find a game that can offer so much diversity as Eve does. I see you've tried mining and you don't like it. That's fine, I don't like mining either. I agree that running missions gets rather dull, too. Grinding standings is exactly what it is: a grind. You're making good income from the market, that's cool. That is a skill I don't have. Allow me to point out a few other things you could try in the game:
1) Join a corp that is part of a 0.0 alliance. See the recruitment section in the Organizations forum, there are plenty looking for new players. If you're serious about wanting to join, I'm fairly certain you will be accepted. The game in 0.0 is quite different from the game in low- or highsec. Not "just" pvp, but pvp to gain space or defend your own. Politics, if that fancies you. 2) Or how about science and industry? You could skill yourself to build ships and modules, or maybe implants and drugs? 3) Instead of a 0.0 corp, maybe you could join a corp living in Wormhole Space? This gives a great PVE experience, as well as being quite profitable. Living in WH space is completely different to living in empire or 0.0.
Just 3 examples of stuff to do, and you can do it while training your skills... no waiting. Although industry does take skills.
I'd advise against buying a highly skilled character, and instead use the time you have while training skills to set goals for your own character.
By the way, if I may ask, why did your coworker (the one who played for 7 years) quit?

Thanks for the well described suggestion. I actually was invited to join a group from Chicago (same time zone) and the UK whom live in 0.0 with their own player owned station just under 30 jumps from Jita. This seems it would allow for a good range of play time with my own online schedule, I can get there cloaked no problem yet bringing in the heavier ships would be a little iffy.
Your description of how 0.0 is a different game sounds like something to jump right into. I really don't care if I lose a ship here and there since the ISK issue seems to have been won.
Why did my friend that played for 7 years quit? I don't actually know for certain. I worked with the guy for a few months, then hosted a 50th year anniversary Sci-Fi convention with him and he was playing EVE in the office non-stop during the event. I was like WTF is that? So signed up, got to enjoy it, ran a bunch of L3 missions with him destroying some and particularly one of the highest ranked rats, like every day for weeks. Then suddenly he was gone and I got an E-mail saying he was bored with EVE and done. That's pretty much it. He offered to give me all of the stuff in the Corp hanger but I declined as I have all the ships I can use. He later said he could not afford the $15 to get back online and I offered to give him a stack of PLEX but have never heard anything back since. Now that you mention it, I will check and see if he's interested in coming back. I am pretty sure he doesn't know that the Learning skills are going to result in a skill point "bank" in fact I am not sure if he knows Incursion is out yet.
Anyway, thanks again. Cheers.

Yes, I have read the responses all the way down to this point and there have been some damned good ones. In fact because of some of the suggestions I have decided what to try. You are correct that I have not responded to some really good ones and it's not that I have not read nor appreciate them, I just had a limited amount of time yesterday due to work. Well, sort of like today. I do plan on getting back on here tonight and reply to as many as I can.
As far as pretty much mastering the ISK thing as a side note I used to work as a stock broker, day trader in fact so the day trading on here is not much unlike Nasdaq. It can easily be manipulated at some point when you find -it-.... Yet I can say that it is -thruthfully- difficult to find what to do with a large amount of ISK. That's due to the fact that the training skills churning is IMHO total bs. I have L5 implants and can't use them as my Cybernetics is at L4 and it would take 28 days to get to L5. that is absolutely stupid and there should be some way around that.
Anyway, thanks for another well thought out response and do know that I have read, appreciate and respect the opinions and suggestions that everyone has provided. It has helped greatly and I hope to get a chance to respond to each person as I do know a person trying to help was at the keyboard behind every response.
Cheers.

Hi there - I am not quite sure what you mean here. I do have two kills, 13 losses sounds about right as I know I have lost at least 7 Ravens, including a Navy Issue.
As far as fitting the ships it's a little ironic that you looked me up on Battleclinic as at some point I started using Battleclinic to fit ships (like at Raven #3) according to the best specs. So.. Yeah, I already am using those fittings.

Looks like a major troll but just in case it isn't:
EVE is a sandbox. You can do anything. Find something you enjoy, be it market trading or PvP. You go find the fun, not the other way round in EVE just like in real life.
There are a lot of recruiting corps, check the recruitment channel and forums.
It honestly sounds like you've done nothing but mission running (and if you've lost that many ships at it you fail at that as well) and are expecting people to just randomly come up to you and offer you opportunities. It doesn't happen that way, you occasionally randomly run across opportunities but most you make yourself.

You could be in a corp in 5 mins or so in the ingame recruitment channel.

Unfortunately I can not access the HELP or RECRUITMENT channels in the game as and ISD is harassing me and blocked me from both.

This guy is a ****ing troll. Most of his reasoning is fatally fallacious, and when cornered by the sound reasoning of the good Samaritans posting here, he immediately changes his position. Post *anything* in the recruitment forum and you'll have posts upon posts asking you to join their corps. Likewise with the recruitment channel. Congrats on extracting 3 pages with your garbage. Now please leave.

"That's due to the fact that the training skills churning is IMHO total bs. I have L5 implants and can't use them as my Cybernetics is at L4 and it would take 28 days to get to L5. that is absolutely stupid and there should be some way around that."

Originally by: Keith Deteisrich Hi folks ~ I've been playing EVE since last July after being referred by a co-worker that played for 7 years but quit a few months ago.
Thanks.

Hey folks ~
Quick update and once again Thank You for the input.
I did take suggestions and have these two things to report;
~ PvP is awesomely fun. Using a cloaked bomber I managed to destroy like 18 ships in one night, in fact stayed up all night and had to call in to work. Now THAT is fun! Problem is that I have since found out that I was in a "Rookie" system and that's against the rules, I think? Anyone have a link as I can't find it in the rules anywhere.
~ My Corporation now has like 9 members, as since I was denied to over 30 Corporations I decided to have one that accepts new people. It's working and these people are online 24 hours a day mining and running missions and getting into interesting trouble. I've done little but to provide them with massive overkill security. Issued some awards, they have brought in new members. It's really cool to watch.
So, that's keeping my interest.
People have provided really good advice and that is what I wanted. My 1st (well actually 3rd, but 1st planned) pVp kill was so exciting that I could not click the mouse in the correct order. Ever been there? I think a LOT of people know what I am talking about. After half a dozen I got to be more relaxed and focused on the skills of well, PvP.
But I have to admit I am still pretty bored.
What else is there that I am missing?
Thanks again.
Keith
PS: For those calling me a troll, get a life. :) I've invested in (2) Manticores and had them shot down on PvP 1 in every 9 kills in the last week; null http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/combat_record.php?type=player&name=Keith%20Deteisrich
Isn't that sort of good?

My two Pence worth to go with all the other helpful advice form more experience players then me, is to set a long term goal to your Eve career, and have a series of mini goals between you and your main objective, and slowy work towrds each one.
It's what I'm doing in a 13 phase progess career.

I feel your pain, I used to be like you but without the mass isk making. I know people that have joined our corperation that just salvage the stuff i leave behind when ratting to make isk as they cannot PVE due to skills.
Im a regular player, i play after work for about 5-6 hours and during this time im really busy doing the following : - Ratting (easy 100m an hour) - Joining fleet ops - Solo roaming - Sorting out logistics - Finding out awesome stuff i can buy :D
To be honest ive got to the point where to train a skill it takes 15+ days for any of them with +4's in, but i don't even realise the time fly by cause i don't play for skills, i play for ISK and PVP. Skills are minor in this game when you have the basics sorted out such as : Can fly a PVP ship fully equiped (tech I or II) Can fly a BS/BC to PVE
Once you have them two things all other skills are just bonuses
About sec status, it means nothing, i can get to 5.0 from 0.0 in null sec in a week if i hardcored it, but unless you leave JITA 4-4 there is no reason to gain sec status.
So after all this, what have we learnt?
Join a 0.0 corperation/alliance and watch the whole of eve come to your door with tons of extra stuff to do...

I've seen the characters for sale on eBay and it seemed off that people were selling a paperclip with a free character. So the Bazaar on here is where you can buy one?
To me buying a character sort of defeats any sense of achievement cause the killboard stats go to that character that someone else created, instead of becoming successful on your own.
Another dead end.

Skillpoints are an asset, just like isk or ships. Some don't like the idea, but trading up to a higher SP character (and skipping years of training) is a good idea. It's a way for newer players who are driven or skilled at the game to gain the one advantage that is toughest to get; skill points.
If you buy a character with your own isk you are very much successful on your own. Reputation is an asset too like any other, and a 10m SP character won't be losing much of it ;)

That's an interesting way of looking at it. I wonder if you can buy a character on here and redo the avatar and rename it yourself? Now I can see that putting a personal touch on it and from that day forward any achievements would be yours I suppose. Just not the past of the character.
Well, I've got just under 9 million SP which doesn't seem to amount for much ability. I'm really surprised that someone could spend 6 months of real game play and still not be able to do much of anything.
So maybe just buying a character does make more sense.. Still kinda seems like cheating though...
