So, back in the afternoon CCP says. Any takers we will be able to log on in the evening time? Night?
My own guess is it will be up by about 20:00 UTC. Just basing this on historical events, that being the majority of the patches for Tranqulity
I think its good though, better slow and do it right, rather than on time and problems with the game.
What are your opinions. -------------------------------------------- When there's a will, there is a way. Always. |

ok time to setup minimum 5 days learning que then. Fully expecting ccp to mess up this patch as usuall and couple days of unprecedented unstability shall ensue in galagtic proportions.
Seriously looking forward those learning skills sp => cut my current plan step in half time. And new atributes + bossible remap to speed up rest of it even more...
Planning to buy minmatar carrier as next ship

Edited by: Balcanis on 15/12/2010 10:34:14 Can't wait to get rid of the Learning Skills. However, I would like to know how will they distribute the new attributes points, general default setting or the CCP is going to give us a Christmas Neural Remap? Now, that would be very nice
Anyways, I have full confidence in CCP guys, so altough there might be issues and might come a little bit later than expected, I'm 100% they will resolve them ASAP. Deploying and implementing new platforms and technologies in general is never problems-free so give them a break.

The devblog already addresses this. It's 12 static (not remappable) points added to all attributes to replace what the learning skills would have given you if they were maxed.
I do agree that the delay is justified. Do it right or do it twice. Doing it twice ALWAYS takes longer than doing it right. - I blame stompy for any confusion I might have caused. |

Can't wait to get my learning SP back. Some of us were "determined" to level them all the way. I thought of it as a mini accomplishment. Now I'll get 5.3 mil SP to play with?? Thank You CCP Santa!!!

Typo? Or has something about drones been fixed in the Mac?
All Tech II drones have been upgraded to Mac OS X Snow Leopard. In the final patch of Incursion, they intend to upgrade all the remaining Tech I and faction drones to Snow Leopard as well.
Hopefully this will reduce the number of drone-attacking malware incidents.
Cheers,
Callin
Along with the Mac "Upgrade" in the spirit of usual CCP and Mac issues the drones will now no longer deploy as they will have interface problems between yoru ship and the drone.
However, with this move away from Windows, the drones will only work on about 5% of your targets. P.S. I am now running "Neutron Blasters Ultimate" on my Megathron.

Although it is a VERY welcome change, it's no CCP Santa giving you anything. You earned those points by already training them! Change or not, you would still be benefiting from them.
Im always up for a set of discretionary skillpoints I can distribute. Glad they allowed us to do that with what we already own.
Learning to learn was a bit silly to begin with and tied up new players in redundancy for a long time which can be very discouraging for new people discovering EVE for the first time. Perhaps they will find renewed interest as noobies get into desired ships faster.

I would have been an '05 character instead of an '09 had I understood the screens and what you were supposed to do better the first time I tried the trial. I messed around on screen for a couple hours got nowhere and gave up. Four years later....I knew someone who was playing and had help getting started. $14.95 x 12 x 4 x (number people felt same way) = -$$$$$$ for CCP.

Yeah, that was my case too. I first started the game in 2006. or 2007. can't really remember but I left it after one or two months. I can't say it was only due to the Learning Skills, although "learn to learn" was a little confusing at the time. The second big factor was that I had trouble finding the right corp. I was very lucky this year when I started again. I joined the corp full of active players that were more than willing to help noobies.

The big thing was the screen and lack of instructions of what to do. I didnt even know you could join a corp or how to for that matter. Whatever happened to the good ol days of boxed games with instruction manuals....

Technically you're correct but my point was that CCP Santa was giving me back those points that I spent time on when I didn't have a clear plan laid out. Now that time I invested was not completely lost.
Next time I find myself wanting to fly a ship or use a module that I'm lacking the skills for, I can insta-learn it by applying points from my Xmas stocking stash.

True, true But, now I can't really imagine not be able to login to EVE and play a little. I am a huge fan of all sorts of games, but now EVE is the only thing of interest to me I always loved the games without the actual ending and the games whose system depended much on player(s) actions.

Edited by: Hykke on 15/12/2010 12:04:24 So what's the status CCP? Is the deployment on track, or have you hit any problems so far?
Personally I think there should be some hourly status updates available during upgrades, CCP should have the manpower to provide us with information... EVEN if the status update is a boring "Still updating database, no problems so far"
(It's better to prepare us for a delay now than wait until 5 minutes after you were supposed to go live)

I'm not sure what your question is.
The learning skills are going away. All points will be reimbursed, you can dump them into whatever other skill(s) you want.
Skills that are not learning skills is staying the same.

Kazikai,
It is only the 'Learning' skills that are being abolished. All the other skills will remain the same. If you happened to have trained any skills from the 'Learning' skill point tree then you will be able to use the skillpoints you have trained from them on another skill set. Maybe re-asign them to gunnery, trade, Industry, spaceship command etc, etc.

That picture predates the ship date of the iPad by a good 6-8 months easily, came out late last summer IIRC.
