Introduction:
The first part of this bond will be an introduction to who I am and what I hope to achieve. I started EVE in July last year, when I finally succumbed to internet space ships. My main interests in EVE have always been trading and making isk. As any new player I did dabble in running missions, mining and simply flying around, but I soon retreated into the station and returned to my main interest : Trading.
I started out hauling NPC goods, moved onto regional trading, then into inter-regional trading and finally back to station trading. I learned about all the details specific to trading the hard way, but I did learn them which is all that matters.
I've always been in two minds when it comes down to asking other people to invest in my ventures. Asking other people on board creates responsibilities and adds in a whole other dimension to trading, other than simply buying and selling. The other dimension however is also a boon, seeing as trading is mostly a lonesome activity, that involves telling other people as little as possible about what you' re doing. As such I decided that I would start a bond, if and only if a sufficiently profitable chance presented itself. As things are now, said chance has presented itself and leads me to this board and this specific thread.
In game characters:
I currently have 3 accounts. All three of these accounts are on extremely long skill plans, with ends dates somewhere in 2013. My main (the account with which I'm posting) has the needed trading skills:
- Margin Trading V - Accounting V - Broker relations V - Day trading V
My second character has these same skills, minus margin trading. The third character has not had more SP invested in trading then one would need to just put up the odd order.
Long term goals:
- Amassing as much isk as possible. - Turning my main in a proper PvE carebear. Both to amass the proper standings for an as low as possible broker fee and to combine trading with some actual flying around. - Turning my secondary characters into proper PvP pilots, with the idea of moving to 0.0 when I feel ready. - Adding in a fourth and possibly a fifth alt. Both would be used for production/invention.
Current NAV:
At the time of writing I have the royal sum of 206.224.508 (206 million) in liquid isk. This is the reason for reaching out and trying to find outside funding.
My outstanding sell orders would amount to:
9.750.000.000 (9.750 million isk).
Collateral:
Because of the nature of my playing style: I have no assets that could be used as collateral. Everything I own is used directly for trading.
Business case:
The business case is straight forward and consists of two parts:
Part 1:
The first part consists of me buying directly from the source: Manufacturers. I can buy for a price that's a set amount under Jita long time average and simply sell that for Jita average. This offers little to no risk, the portfolio of goods is properly diversified and will offer a decent enough return on invest for me to pay interest on amount invested and get a good amount out of it for myself.
The size of the funds required would amount to 5B. This is the part where I would like investors to come onboard and supply the working capital.
For this part the worst case scenario would be breaking even. This will only happen if the EvE market would suddenly experience severe deflation. In this case I am able to pay out the interest owned out of my own capital, I cannot see this actually happening though.
The most likely scenario would be a profit sufficient to turn out the interest to investees as well as an amount at least equal to the interest to turn out to yours truly.
The best case scenario utilizes the expected surge in the Christmas holidays, which if all turn out well, will result in a result above expectations.

This part concerns itself with actual trading. This consists of station trading and inter-regional trading. I currently use my entire NAV to wheel and deal my way to greater fortune in this specific area. There are many chances here that I currently can't fully utilize due to not having enough isk. Originally I wanted to make the bond a two-pronged one, with one part of the isk raised used in part and the remaining funds used in part 2. However due to the size of the bond as is, combined with the fact that this is in fact my first bond, led me to not issuing a bond for this part at this time.
The worst scenario in this case is losing around 10% of the amount invested. I do not mind a risk, nor do I mind gambling. This can turn out pretty well, but sometimes Fortuna won't cooperate.
The most likely scenario is how it usually turned for me in the past. I lose out on some investments, break even in others, make a decent profit in the bulk of transactions and will hit it big on the remaining investments.
The best case scenario utilizes the expected surge in the Christmas holidays, which if all turn out well, will result in a result above expectations.
The amount that I could handle without taxing my time and abilities too much, would amount to an additional 10B. I repeat explicitly: As things stand now, I will not follow up on actually finding investors for this part of the bond.
Interest:
The amount I'm looking for is 5B divided in 250m bonds. This means there are 20 bonds up for sale. The offered return is 10%. The bond would run for two months.
The reason for this particular interest rate is twofold:
- The inherent risk of the operation itself is slim to none. This would warrant a low interest rate equal to what a bank would give out. - The inherent risk to a new bond is high. This warrants a significant interest rate.
I feel that looking at the recent bonds, a 10% interest rate would be appropriate.
Exit strategy:
If for any reason I would be unable or unwilling to proceed playing EvE, I will cancel the non-binding contract I have with my manufacturer and continue to sell whatever stock I had left as I would otherwise. After liquefying my stock I will then continue to pay out the bond amount and the interest early, as if the bond had run to maturity.
If anyone wishes to withdraw their isk on an early note this is always possible: If I am informed a week in advance the entire amount will be paid back including interest due over the period that has already passed.
If anyone wishes to withdraw their isk at a moment's notice, this will also be possible. However due to the nature of trade, there will be a 15% penalty on the amount returned to the investor, due to a possible need of a fire sale.
Audit:
As things stand currently: I have asked VV to do an audit for me. I have supplied him with the API keys for my three accounts. As soon as VV has provided his audit, I will edit the OP to include his findings.
Risks:
- Any and all transport is done employing full collateral +10%. All via contracts. - My main will not leave the station for the coming 3 months. Neither will my secondary characters. -The risk of the EvE market collapsing or deflating enough to render the business case invalid is slim to none.
Contact:
I'm online a lot and able to answer questions, should the need arise.

Could you clarify whether you're setting the interest as payable per month or over the total term of the bond? Ie. 10% per month or 10% after two months?

In that case, having already done some preliminary checks of my own, and once I've had a chance to go through VV's findings I'd like to tentatively state my interest for a cheeky half billion.

I guess you missed/skipped over the part where it says I have close to 10B in sell orders. Would my NAV indeed be a minor 200m, I would be rightfully laughed at.

wow i made a complete ass of myself for missing that. also a question: is business done in strictly high sec or do you station trade in low sec/null sec (i understand that you'll have collateral covered but it would change the length at which it would be fufilled)
if VV comes out with a satisfactory audit regarding your characters put me down for 1b

It might be a good idea to have the person his or her self, either confirm or deny the reservation. I have no way of known whether or not you are related to him/her. If however Nouva does indeed wishes to invest, the entire amount of 5B is now spoken for.
I just saw I missed a question:

This operation on my part will be purely based in high-sec. Where my supplier manufacturers his goods is something I neither know nor wish to know.
edit: I just spoke to Nouva in-game. He told me he had problems with logging in to the forums and used these two posters to put himself down for stated amount. As such the entire bond is as of now filled pending audit.

A small update on the audit:
VV asked me to disclose either the API or the presence on Eveboard, of the third parties from whom I'm expecting to buy goods to sell as stated in part 1 of the bond. Unfortunately I had to inform VV and as such the people reading this, that I cannot do that. I am more than willing to allow an auditor access to my own accounts and my own information, however I am not entitled nor permitted to expect my suppliers and potential suppliers to feel the same way. Fact of the matter is, I did ask and got a blatant "No" from my main prospect. I wanted to keep this out in the open and not have VV break the news.

Any auditor asking for API keys of suppliers should not be auditing!!

I disagree on this. The bond is made of two parts, the part asking for money is the manufacturing one. In order to verify the feasibility of the investment I have to preferably investigate the supply chain. If the involved persons don't want to disclose anything, I'll just state so, for Investors to gauge. If they prefer to cooperate by putting their character skills on Eveboard I'll notice whether they have basic manufacturing skills and in case I'll report that. Every decent corporation demands much more than an Eveboard profile for the smallest recruit, I feel obliged to protect Investors putting at stake much more than that. - Auditing & consulting

Audit report for Corcyrus Endymion business proposal
This is Vaerah Vahroka's analysis as of 2010-12-14 18:00 EvE Time.
Tools used EvE Wallet Aware jEveAssets EvEMeep EvE Asset Manager EvE Income Analyzer Eve Trader - New release by Femaref
Forewords about the Audit
Corcyrus Endymion is an high sec trader. He has good and even excellent standings with some NPC corporations as well. He has a business plan to be executed in two phases and he wants to have the first phase funded by public money.
Generalities
Main character for this proposal is Corcyrus Endymion, along with two other accounts. There are several trading alts, few with trading skills trained to V as per the prospectus above, others with right enough skills to put up orders with no special fees nor margin reduction. The characters have a vast amount of SP invested in learning skills. This confirms the Investee statement about the very long term training plan. The trading characters have the stated skills or better. The main character, Corcyrus Endymion, is a July 2009 one with 14M SP. He has the stated skills to V and also come contracting capabilities. Corcyrus Endymion may also PvE with ships up to battlecruisers, fly industrials of multiple factions, mine, refine, salvage.
Involvement in other business
None at the moment.
Business Plan Analysis
The Investee did not send the Auditor a preview about his business prospectus, though a discussion thread introduced the investment.
The plan disclosed the past and present Investee trading strategy.
The business plan is composed of two phases: an agreement to purchase items off manufacturers for subsequent resale and a regular station trading activity. The manufacturing part is the one the Investee is reportedly raising public money for, the Auditor contacted the Investee to have verifiable references to such manufacturers in order to check their skills. Unfortunately they would not want to disclose their identity, however the Auditor could take an independent deduction that confirms those people are indeed manufacturers. Since it's pivotal to the bond success, the trading part has been analyzed as well. Due to the strict time constraints imposed on the data gathering, the results are exact and give a picture, but don't pretend being of statistical grade reliability.
The trading strategy has been verified being the one indicated by the Investee. He trades a limited but changing basket of products at any given time. The Investee could achieve an apparent 29% profit in the last two weeks. Before that date the data is fragmented at best due to API limitations and in the worst conditions it shows a low of 7.72% profit. The profit ratio has been pushed to the high by the top sold item but the API dropped the purchase order records. Without the purchase records, such item has to be considered an unverified outlier and therefore discarded off the statistics. Considering the other top turnover items that have been both bought and sold within the API covered period, the overall profit drops to 10.89% in a week. The available data are not enough to reliably predict the sustained rate of profit.

It's possible to speculate about the current performance being repeated in the future, expecially since this is Christmas plus game expansion time.
Adopting a simple compounding formula:
MC = P * (1 + R)^ N
Where MC = matured capital, P = principal, R = rate of interest, N = rates in a month
and conservatively assuming the worst weekly performance of 7.72%, a principal of 5B would mature into a capital of 6.732B. The resulting monthly performance would be about 34%.
Adopting a worst case, diminishing returns formula where N halves at each week (simulating the increasing difficulty at earning more capital), 5B would mature into a capital of 5.723B. The resulting monthly performance would be about 14.475%.
Therefore, compatibly with the current limited data set and those formulas, it's possible to determine that the offered 10% interest rate should be covered even in a mediocre scenario.
The factors above, the lack of collateral, the lack of a RL exit strategy and the lack of statistically reliable performance data push the Auditor into classifying this business as very high risk. The offered interest looks comfortably in line with the kind of risk the Investors will be subject to.
Graph about the available daily activity of the Investee:
List of the top 15 sold items:
A word of caution: the apparently very high profit margin items (where the green bar is about as long as the yellow bar), in reality are items purchased before the date covered by the API and therefore have a cost set to zero.

Collateral and exit strategy
The Investee did not offer collateral nor RL exit strategy. There is a good will statement about recovering money to the Investors in case the Investee decides to abort the investment.

Business impressions
The business is pretty straightforward: the Investee buys wholesale a basket of items off manufacturers or off the market and resells them for a margin.
The business, as long as the Investee keeps working like in the past weeks should earn a minimum of 14-34%.
Positives The Investee has the character skills to confirm his claims. The Investee net worth is about double of the requested capital, the Investee is comfortable dealing with the involved amounts. The Investee could sustain a turnover of 4.5B in his best day before receiving money for the bond. The Investee accepted an audit. The Investee does not move inventory across space, so the risk of losing it to a suicide attack is reduced.
Negatives The Investee did not provide neither collateral nor RL exit strategy. The Investee transactions only go back to some days, therefore it's not possible to perform a dependable analysis. The Investee lost more than a billion in hauler ganks / attacks (including low sec) in his early days. Despite the Investee stopped hauling goods and now uses third party couriers, it's due diligency for the Auditor to report about this.
Conclusions
Due to the lack of collateral, RL exit strategy, and inherent risk at trading, the Auditor classifies this investment as very high risk. Notice how "high risk" is not a negative judgement on the business plan or kind but a statement about possibility of losses being real (the failed bond would be an example).
The Investee seems competent (skills wise and player wise) enough to deliver on his statements, his business is in a growth phase, his API records show he's currently operating as he stated.
Basically, the Investee looks like with the ability to successfully honor the bond. Notice how an audit can only evaluate the ability or potential of an Investee to succesfully honor a bond / IPO. The Auditor suggests perspective Investors NOT to invest their full capital on this venture but to offer what they could eventually afford to lose.

First off, thank you VV for taking the time to do this audit. It's basically a shoddy pay for a time-consuming job and I appreciate you finding time within a weeks notice.
As to the proceedings of this bond: If there are any questions or remarks raised by this audit, then feel free to ask them. In case there are no questions, I would like to go ahead with the business plan as stated in the OP. My aim is to start in earnest the 17th of December, which means I would like to receive the funds before this date.

Thank you VV. Audit would suggest that no basic untruths were told in the run up to this launch and confirm a decent level of competence. More importantly I guess there's now a list of alts which can be chased to the ends of the earth should you do a runner.
Not sure why you'd want to do a runner back to a cleric/templar? on Aion or a ... orc Warlock?.. on WoW tho :o)
Anway, at this stage it's a straight gamble and undoubtedly high risk; some further rummaging of my own has confirmed pretty decent history, so I'll take the risk.
500m sent to Corcyrus Endymion, journal entry "Bond Launch" @ 09:41 game time.
