Here's a quickie of a Brutor female.
Again the creator is much improved. I'm starting to believe it might be on time to be released sometime in January. Still some ways to go. The character is more "lively" in the latest iteration of the creator and this makes modeling a bit harder as character moves just as you're trying to get the small detail to somewhat where you want it.

Edited by: Barbelo Valentinian on 17/12/2010 21:05:07 One thing I'm curious about, if anybody who's been playing about with this can answer.
You know how the old system had lots of whacky bits and pieces (weird sunglasses, odd clothing, strange shiney makeup, weird backgrounds, strange implant thingies, etc., etc.)? Will those types of options still be there?
It would be a shame if the models themselves look great but you can't make them ... well, EVE-ey, anymore, i.e. if they just look realistic but don't have that EVE-ey character the old stuff had. *****

I did like the previous Intaki model more than this third iteration.

Unfortunately we lost the functionality making the eyes smaller or bigger in the second version and it has not returned since. I would also like to rotate the eyes a little bit.
They also keep tweaking the base models so that what might look good this round will not necessarily be when it hits live.
This and this are still my favourite Brutor female models and I don't think I can quite get there anymore... These are from the first version.
Also the Gallente males will not be able to keep their very youthful looks anymore. They will look considerably more manly now. In good and in bad ways... |

I have been playing around with the creator and somethings are good but there are some glaring problems still - the Bangs for females looks terrible. There are no tatoo's or implants. (Can't imagine No implants or eyepatches for those Achura men) Clothing almost all looks the same from race to race and is very limited. No fun clothing either, thigh high boots, hot pants, mini skirts (they don't have any dresses for that matter) mesh shirts, fishnet stockings all non exsistant.

Lol, I was about to make the same note on that pic myself, but someone beat me to it.
The women still look like men, it seems. Hence, I am still kind of disappointed, though we'll see once I get my hands on it....

So, I tried the new character creator (I didn't get to try the previous iterations), and there are quite a few things that need modifications etc before CCP should release it. I did see a video of one of the previous iterations and thought that the dial system was much nicer.
One good thing before I start though: I liked the scales and the dials for the muscularity, weight and complexion :)
But, now onto the bad news :( 1) I think everyone's character will basically look the same with this new creator. I have multiple minmatar characters and a caldari, and the clothing options are not different enough to be able to make a noticeable race difference. I think I saw maybe 1 unique shirt and one unique pant for each race, that's it.
2) The whole archtype thing kind of failed again. Not only do two of my different race character have practically the same clothes, but extremely similar faces. The only facial differences were the eyes and the skin tones, one which needed to be accentuated by adding scarring.
I wanted to recreate this character as is, but without the minmatar corn row crown (hair), correct complexion or shirt options, this has been made literally impossible, which saddens me since it took almost 2 years to find another character design that looks anything like her.
3) The option selection system needs to at the very least have a text box that will let you select the number of the characteristic that you like instead of having to run through all the boxes each time to find the single one you liked that was at the first spot. (Ideally, make the boxes faster to scroll through as well.) Trying to go through the 70+ options for the backgrounds, as well as the hairstyles was painful.
4) The graphics jump between the current game and the new character creator (as well as from the medium graphics setting and high graphics setting in the creator) is far too wide. The high graphics setting causes basically a session timer every time you try to anything, and even sometimes when you don't. I changed it to medium graphics settings, but that leaves you having no idea what your character actually looks like. It won't take me hours to perfect my characters because I need them to be perfect, but because the load times are horrendous between changes, even with the resource cache in use.
5) With the sculpting feature, half of the areas appear to not actually be affected by dragging the mouse around (shoulder/arms, lower legs, certain facial areas). Paired with the loading times between changes, this is rather frustrating.
6) For the portrait designing section, it would be nice to see the head orientation and eyeball placement widgets on the right to return. I don't want my characters' eyes to be directly in the middle, I want to be able to move them to wherever for making the portrait, and trying to correctly position the head without the widget was an exercise in frustration when trying to figure out where the left/right and the any direction editing points were.
It's a nice idea, but I still think updating the portraits isn't needed, and WIS, I think is a waste of time. It's a space sim (if that), not a person sim.
TL;DR: New creator is too laggy, not enough options for clothes to show any difference between characters and the scuplting/portait design is difficult to use.
