Captain Die	Posted - 2010.12.29 11:40:00 - [1] As the title states, I'm having trouble deciding on what I want to fly. I'm mostly torn between the battleships of eve. I'm not a fan of drones as my main dps. I'd rather be using turrets or missiles, so the domi is out. Turret type doesn't bother me. I like to armor tank but will shield if the fit/ship appeals to me. I plan on soloing and making a living in lo sec. Questions to you: 1) as a battleship pilot, is it possible to do solo gank and run type tactics? 2) What have you found to be most effective in applying dps to smaller targets? (I have a feeling its drones) 3) what is your favorite t1 battleship to fly? a) what is your favorite battle to fly over all?

Never heard of an armor tanked tempest. Have the fit?

Unfortunately, Plates will decrease your speed/agility. So if you're looking for hit'n'run you may be better off shieldtanking it. There is 1 of those neuts available for 75m and I've yet to see the digital, but there are buy orders up for 85m and 150m.

Some BS cannot, some can only gank on stations, others can do hit and run. 2) Heavy neuts disable most small stuff, warriors eat up frigs. Usually guns will miss frigs unless the pilot mistakenly gives you 0 transversal. 3) Probably... a armageddon? I don't really enjoy battleships, but geddon is cheap and high DPS output. Utility high is good for remote reps. 4) Macharial. Moves like a cruiser, hits like a battleship, tanks like a battlecruiser. You need a deep pocket though.
Sean Faust Gallente Point of No Return Waterboard	Posted - 2010.12.29 15:42:00 - [16] 1) yes but you have to be VERY selective of your targets. 2) drones and smartbombs are the only DIRECT way to apply DPS to smaller targets unless they fly stupidly. However, if you work some magic with neuts, TP, and web, you can be able to hit them with your guns. 3) i don't fly BS because of their overall lack of speed/agility and how they struggle with smaller targets generally. But if I did, it would be the minmatar ones. for station games, however, i would choose the geddon just because you can get an immense HP buffer out of it while still putting out nice DPS. and the fact that any other BS that can match its combination of tank/DPS costs 2x as much if not more seals the deal. a) if cost were not an issue, i would fly a machariel just because it's the only BS that can match the speed and agility of cruisers, and i hate flying slow pigs of ships.

Granted, it does take alot of skills to get it working right, but it is, imo, one of the best BSs in the game. Dirt cheap to, I picked one up for 45 mil. Great being able to roam around empire rapidly searching for wartargets.
