Richard,
If they are not there to protect players, then why did the guns fire on my when I attacked a player from a different corporation? He was not in the NPC corp and I was using projectiles so I shouldn't have hit the station, unless if misses can hit untargeted objects like stations.

So just to be clear. You said Sentry Gate guns in systems >= 0 not just >0?
So effectively no camping jump gates in empire controlled space. Does this effect corps at war or can two corporations in a declared war attack each other at jump gates?
I hope you are giving players reasons to go into non empire space otherwise you just turned this game into a mining sim and taken all the risk out of the game.

I don't much care for this solution at the moment. Go figure :).
It's not that I enjoy sitting at a jumpgate waiting for people, but rather we don't have any real alternative.
What you are doing is pushing all the pirate corpse into one big fish tank causing us to feed off each other. While I'm sure many would be completely ok with this, others like myself are not.
If you are going to force us into non empire space then you need to provide more content out there for us as well as a way to make a living by pirating.
There needs to be more stations run by NPC pirate corps where we can get missions. Have the most profitable trade runs send the players into non empire space.
I find it odd that a game that advertised piracy as a way to make a living, is slowly phasing out all our options.
At the very least, give us some idea of how you envision us using piracy as a profession.
If you need players who pirate for a living to bounce ideas off of just ask. I'm sure there are plenty who would be more than happy help out. Myself being one.

Ambush where? There are already guns around everything that isn't a rock.
Feel free to give suggestions. The more dialog that occurs the better.
Despite what many people may think, most pirates want this game to succeed and that can only happen if both sides are listened to.

Here's a hint, where do miners spend most of their time?
In their pods? =) Yeah, I hear ya on that, I cut my teeth on miners in *insert secret location*.
The problem with that I fear is people will start to accuse us of dropping extra rocks to cause lag ;)
I just have a bad feeling all pirates are going to end up in some kind of anger management sector of space where we all knit mittens together and talk about the good old days.
Guess I'll just have to play the wait and see game for now.

I hope the dev's do some tweaking to the routes between systems then.
If we are going to be basically locked out of Empire space, then we need a way to travel between all of the non empire controlled areas. Otherwise we're stuck.
I could be exaggerating a bit there but you get the idea. =)

Yeah, already doing that and I still am forced into .5 from time to time.
As long as it turns out to be the exception to the rule I'm ok with it.
