Give us watered down Jove ships with the explanation that since the empires have achieved T3 the Jovians gave some of their old ships to show that even their oldest ones are on par with current technology. Lolwut: "Yes, you kids don't know how lucky you have it. These days noobs get given free tackle ships for PvP but back in the old days the only tackle ships we were given were our pods. The only sad thing is we never get to see any of the artwork that was included in the game. We know that jovian stations were modelled and skinned but we can never fly around one.
There are tons and tons of weird ships that somehow ended up in the game that we never see: like the one that looks like a dung beetle.
Every pilot needs to to stuff like go see the monolith in Dead End and the EVE wormhole in Genesis. There are lots of art assets in the area like wrecked stations and junk floating in space near gates that you never see out in 0.0. I'd like to see more of it. Its the explorer in me.
I've seen a monolith appear in a sanctum once since i've been playing eve. I've never seen a "This sign has sharp edges" sign appear yet. |

They seemed to deal with people accidentally shooting each other during incursions fine however. I nearly put my hobgoblins on the person i was supposed to be repping numerous times and am glad they implemented the safety catch. |

The Jove is CCP's last card, call it an Ace or the most valued card on the deck... They will only use it if there will be the need for it, like in a desperate attempt to call players to the game (in case subscription would be in dire need) or some marketing campaign aimed at bringing in more players. As it appears so far there has been no need to use such card, so it will remain as always, unused... |

I hope they use the Jove card sometime.
Maybe not all at once, but a slow build up... First release some content and the rest maybe in an expansion.
I always thought CCP's last card was the EvE gate re-opening and humans from earth coming in. |

As I remember things, going right back to the start of Eve. The Jove were intended to be the 5th player race. The plan was that you couldn't role a Jove character, but your character would eventually evolve into a Jove by following a perticular play route.
I think it was one of those thing that probably looked good on paper, but which never got followed up on, especially as CCP realised just how good players can be at pushing the game past its limits and using game mechanisms unexpected ways, and by unexpected ways I don't mean just exploiting the game. Players are very creative in how they use their tools.
A nice idea that never came to be, but what was left is a damned useful tool for the Dev's to use for testing and the like |

TBH lore wise Im expecting the Jove to have ceased to exist as a biological race and transfered their consciousness to sentiant machines, much like the one described in Templar One. Their experiments on other civilizations could be an attempt to use cloning-like technology to return to a biological race again. In any case they have been provocing attempts at their discovery since I started playing and an item that keeps people interested in the game with virtually no effort is not someing CCP is going to mess up by answering any real questions anyone will ever ask.

Pretty much what she said. Pulling the Jove card is a one-time trick, and I may add that it's a deadly one. It's the kind of thing a company does when it's desperate and only aims to die a bit later after losing all hopes to survive.
A mistery resolved is the same as a nullsec conquered: a colossal pile of nothingess, the culmination of a struggle "to do" by achieving the ultimate "nothing left to do".
Adding the Jove to EVE will be the last thing CCP does before EVE dies. To die is the first thing EVE will do if the Jove ever are added to it.
So in a way, I hope the Jove are never added once we get WiS, or just come ASAP whenever CCP abandons WiS. CCP Unifex: -á"lurking single players (...)-áare the majority of characters on Tranquility"
...And so now we know why CCP hasn't done anything for soloers since Apochrypha. |

Frying Doom wrote:Marcus Harikari wrote:Don't sleepers have something to do with the Jove? Given the current evidence available there appears to be strong historical and sociological connections between the Jovian and Sleeper societies. The attempts to find a cure for the lethal Jovian Disease forced a separation of the two groups, where the Sleepers used their expertise in virtual worlds to prolong the grave state of depression caused by the disease. To find a permanent cure, the Sleepers went on a quest to reconstruct their corrupted DNA; the cause of the disease. For this they needed unmodified DNA from other ethnic groups which eventually lead to the eradication of the Yan Jung Nation. Unsuccessful in solving the DNA mystery with specimens from New Eden alone, the Sleepers constructed huge Motherships and star gates to take them far beyond New Eden into w-space.There they continued their DNA research on the Talocans, a race untainted by the massive radiation emitted by the collapse of the EVE Gate. Seemingly, this research was either unfruitful or is still ongoing thereby making the final fate of the Sleepers unknown. Source: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/The_Sleeper_-_Jovian_ConnectionThe spring expansion 2009 "Apocrypha" introduced Sleepers as inhabitants of the newly introduced Wormhole space, though at this point all interactions with them appear to be with drones rather than manned vehicles, leaving the ultimate fate of the race unknown Source: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Sleeper
I bolded everything that is either flat out wrong due to recent PF or needs a source badly.
Also, maybe Jove space opening up could be done a right way. What if that isn't Jove space? What if that area is the one way out of the New Eden Cluster to a whole NEW cluster of stars? What if "Jove space" was a temporary settlement which actually belonged to another ancient race? We don't know if New Eden really ends where the map shows. For all we know, the Jove are the gate keepers...or perhaps the wardens?
Just my two isk.
